Customer service in my opinion is a big one. I always shoot my customers with a text like “I’m just waiting on your food and I’ll let you know when “ and when I get the order I tell them I’m on my way. Also after you take the photo I also add to them “ enjoy the rest of your day or evening.”
Most of the time they respond like “ok or thanks “
Just letting them know gives them a peace of mind.
Most time I get bigger than expected tips 🤙🏼
I agree with customer service being such an important skill to have in this area. People appreciate a human touch so to speak so being kind goes a really long way.
I took the time to text my customer informing them that I was in traffic but not to far away! Later that night I received a $14 tip!
@@tacowboys6890 I generally let them know if it’s a longer wait, and that I’m sorry for the delay. They pretty much always understand our time is important and tip me huge for it!
I do the same thing if I find myself waiting on an order and have another one in the car ready to go
I absolutely hate doing stacked orders 🙄 I rather focus on one order so I don’t get any complaints and the customer’s food stays hot. I’m a quality over quantity type of person. This method has been working for me and I make more money not doing stacked orders believe it or not. I’m a diamond driver with high ratings. I only do stacked orders if it’s slow or if the money is worth it.
Yep I agree. I've gotten bad ratings on UberEATS all because the next order took forever and and the first customer food get warm plus the additional time they're waiting on you. So yes depending on the pay and miles I may take it but even that is tricky now that Uber doesn't show 2nd restaurant anymore...smh

I prefer to do stacked orders within reason. I like to communicate with people so that they know what is going on. If they are a part of a batch I will let them know that I will be a while and to help me get to them easier I will ask for their adress as well as ubereats doesnt let that stay on the screen
The number one mistake in food delivery right now is Drivers accepting orders that pay less than six dollars. You’re hurting yourself and everybody else out here… Stop doing it
What’s been happening to us lately is users are putting a fat tip on the order and then removing it after we drop it off. They are getting smarter about manipulating the app to get you to do the pick up for nothing.
It’s all about $ per mile and how much time, rather than just the basic amount. I’d rather do 1 mile for $6 than 8 miles for $7

@@KOMEDYQUEEN that’s how I started noticing what was happening. I started taking screen shots of the requests and then later would match them to the payout. The amounts were $1 - $5 difference. The user has up to 1 hour after delivery to edit the tip. They are definitely removing tips after you drop the food off.

I would add that 'looking presentable' is part of customer service...Not every delivery is a no contact delivery to a porch...You will have to go inside office buildings, hotels, apartment buildings, etc, plus upscale neighborhoods...i have a collection of solid-colored button-up shirts (w/ breast pockets for phone) bought at thrift stores for $4 or so, plus khaki shorts/pants at the same prices...Clean shoes are a plus, too...
I also use a sub-compact for food delivery, not just for the gas mileage, but for the "parkability" that allows me to squeeze my 12' long Fiat into spots cars 16'+ can't to be able to park closer in dense areas...I can also do U-turns on a dime that save me the time that translates into more money, especially during prime-time like the dinner rush...

you're really lucky. there are no quests and no surges more than $3 and $10 is just unheard of in my area. all towns are not equal.
I live in the Denver metro area and in the area I deliver (a suburban area) we will occasionally get a $1 surge, but 99% of the time the surge is only down town and I've never seen it over $3. It's all about the popularity of the app in your area. I would love to see a $10 surge! I'd even deliver downtown for that kind of money.

Auto excepting also takes you out of navigation so once you clear the offer if you can you also have to hit navigate again while driving. Here in N.Y. we don't get any bonuses or quests. Boost it always only 1.1. It's horrible here right now.

I rarely get surge bonus offers in the West Valley of Phoenix and have not had quests in months.
For Labor Day weekend they did a "quest" on the holiday. It had specifications your deliveries had to be in Phoenix between certain hours.. jokers quest

What happened to me yesterday and has happened before too is it comes up with an offer for like $20 and it says for example Outback Steakhouse...I was literally driving towards that way and clicked accept. Then find out it is a double order and the other restaurant that comes up it tells me i have as a firsr pick up (which is a whole different direction). I hate this crap!

I am unable to see boost bonus on my uber eats deliver app, all i see when i go on is just the hot spots where to get some orders near in the zone. my market areas is in Wichita Falls Tx.
All I've been getting in my market is surge bonuses. Haven't had a boost or a decent quest promotion in ATL in the last 4 MONTHS!🤷

Whack navigation in my area is a problem. Tonight they had me driving down a main thoroughfare and telling me to turn left and there was not a left turn. I had to go around the block, park in a tow zone and then had a parking attendant tell me I was in a tow zone. I told her I'm trying to find a specific restaurant and she tells me "it's in front of the plaza" lol Literally around two turns back the way GPS on uber was telling me where it was. Also junk GPS after pick up.

When do the promotions start?
I NEVER take doubles aka add ons. They wanted me to take the add on FIRST. I ended up getting a bad rating or an unhappy customer every time. I decline add ons every time now. One time they tried to ADD ON a Freddy's order for $1.86...0h hell no. So, by me declining them, it makes the rounds, and another driver can have a Chance.
Whatever you said are good, but all contingent upon there are trip requests lol. So many dasher for uber now literally no trip requests.

How do i know if customer put tip before accepting the order?
I haven't received a surge payment in a year, even though it says I will before accepting requests so I gave up trying to intentionally enter surge areas. Anyone else have that problem?
No boost bonus' here in NJ. Barely get any hot spot orders either. I dont see how to get a customer after i already delivered when they send me a message. Any way to get to that to answer the customer on uber eats?
I'm a little nervous as I just got approved to do Ubereats today, I spent time looking for a decent sized hot/cold bag but it looks like I'm gonna have to go with an insulated bag I already have until I can upgrade. Hopefully it'll be okay!
Ubereats does not require an insulated bag. In Canada anyway
Good bags aren't cheap BUT they are well worth it...The cheapies with canvas and foil/foam insulation will rip easily...I have 3 Cambro pizza bags (12", 16", 20") that can be used for various other items...I have 2 vinyl Cambro top loading bags with velcro and 2 zippered ones that are super-insulated...I take a lot of big orders that are going far enough that the extra bags allow me to even double bag the orders going far for EXTRA tips added on to the point the bags have long been paid for by the extra tips themselves...
NOTE: I used the Uber bags and other cheap ones until I was sure that UE was profitable before investing in high-quality bags that average around $60 each with shipping
I've been doing Uber eats for 10 months now here in New York lower Westchester county New York City and part of Connecticut and I've never used a hot and cold bag ever and I could tell you this much customers are really care because most of the time they make you leave the food at the door anyways and in the winter time where it's like 10 degrees outside customers will say leave the pizza outside at the door and I would drive around make a U-turn come back to avenue in the pizza is still there sometimes I will drop off a second order and then pass by the house where I dropped off the first order which will be either McDonald's or pizza or whatever and it will still be there you know until the customers realize that the order is outside they don't want to be bothered with the ringing of the Bell they don't want to be bothered with a phone call it is what it is honestly I'm not against the hot and cold bag but it's only going to help food get mushy a lot more quicker I mean if you have Taco Bell and you keep that insulated hot it's just going to push up sometimes food has to breathe and if you keep it in the back it's not going to breathe another thing is if you're using a hot and cold bag you have to keep cleaning it and many people don't even clean their bags after every order you're technically speaking supposed to clean it after every order and not many people take the time of the day to do so why do I say that you have different terms coming from different places but let's be honest how many people are actually taking a precautions for that to me the hot and cold bag just seems like something excessive.
@@carlosj587 I got two bags but I got a very different problem rn. After doing the thing for about a week, my account got temporarily deactivated because I never addressed the airbag recall on my vehicle, so I had to schedule that a WEEK out, and now I gotta wait 5-7 business days for uber to possibly register that I got it done x.x As far as the bag goes, I heard if customers see it that could help ratings, when I take the picture I usually leave the insulated bag in the pic nearby as well. But I've started making decisions on what goes in and what don't. Though if it's like those orders from olive garden where they put it in a paper bag, I do not use an insulated bag cause that's a headache and pointless, and would likely cause more damage than help.
I have a few pizza bags left from papa John's. I also have a sewing business and will sew waterproof red material over their logo and use those 2 bags. One is a baby bag and the other is regular size. I have an orange pizza bag but no real support on the bottom. I'll put the PJ bag inside the orange one.
Orders piping up when I’m trying to hit deliver or take a photo are my pet peeve. I accidentally accepted a few orders that I didn’t want.
If you don't want that to happen, all you have to do is hit the "stop new requests" button on your delivery. That's That's I do.
Then just hit the button that says issue and then cancel it. When it asks why, there are several opt you can choose.
Where do I find this quest thing
If I get an add-on delivery for say, $3.00, or more, it's really hard to look at that app while driving (safety first!). Maybe I can't pull over, but the add on might look pretty good. What then?

I hate when I’m at a apartment building and I’m trying to look at my screen to see what number it is and I get a order request while I’m literally trying to find someone’s door
I hate apartments in general when I have an order to deliver there.....
Good way to resolve that is hit the button that says "Stop future requests" then after you deliver turn the go button back on.
I have yet to see a bonus or a quest(Las Vegas)
Seems like those surge pay and quest are for drivers not deliveries

The maps on uber eats can be incorrect basically the map will Point to another house and it does not help that when you try to tell the driver that you cannot go that way you just go on this street and then the map will fix itself it's frustrating
Great video. I think that Uber Eats allows you to add a tip up to a week after the delivery, perhaps its different in the UK.
In the u.s it's only an hour after.

I've never cancelled an order. I'm only about 50 orders in but, I've never had a reason to cancel an order. A lot of orders warrant a "not ready" click. Don't cancel unless it's totally egregious on the restaurant's part. Waiting for 20 minutes for that order to be filled is egregious. Even then, it's borderline to cancel. Sometimes kitchens get super busy and orders get lost in the mix. Give them a chance to fill the order and do set a time limit but, give that time limit some flex. If they're communicating with you on when the order will be ready, yeah, let them fill the order. 90% of orders are filled when you get there. As long as they're communicating with me on when the order will be filled, I have no problem waiting. Just make sure you click "not ready" in the app. That lets the customer know their order isn't ready.
You guys get so much better pay per delivery in the states than here in Australia. almost double pay id say.

I agree with "Chicago's Best" comment, but, always be sure to CALL Uber before cancelling so they know. I've made the mistake of cancelling without saying anything, and got scolded for it.

then learn how to only accept good mile/dollar ratio and time/dollar ratio
I have accidentally clicked the add on order a few times and it pisses me off because it reminds me of a spam popup ad. Lol. I actually did a survey for UE and mentioned it.
When I first started doing Uber eats I was very excited about receiving quests because the money is great.
But now it’s been a while, and I haven’t had any quests anymore.

They cut pay for drivers about April 2019. I never got another quest after that.

It crazy that some people are getting that Quest but i never had one before and i made 500 deliveries and I’m averaging 40-50 deliveries on the weekends for my side hustle.
I assume you are averaging at least 8 bucks/p order, right? and l bit you're putting a lot of miles on your vehicle... 300 - 400 mi???

Always appreciate your tips Mike. I've been driving for DoorDash for years and only recently starting multi apping with UberEats. Do the "Quests" show up in the promotions area? That is something I HATE it tries to give me another order for 2 dollars right as I'm getting close to the location to deliver. IT GETS IN THE WAY and a lot of times I"LL ACCEPT IT and not even mean to because I was trying to see where I needed to turn in to the apartment or miss my turn.
I NEVER see boost bonuses only surges. I also don’t always see the surge compensation in my pay details. I am honestly confused and frustrated.

Don’t pick up fast food orders and also move to a better neighborhood. If you deliver in run down neighborhoods then you won’t make anything.
My market does not have the kind of quests that you have, which kinda sucks. No where near that payout. Dang you KC!! LOL
Never seen anything other than boost (1.1) in my area. I have not seen Surge or quests.
2) my county in Florida is very spread out 20x40 miles. My base drive is 4-6 miles for $2,3 4 deliveries. $ 10-25 deliveries are generally 10-16 plus miles away and take 30-1.20min to complete and frequently stacked.
3) I work full time at office and work same hr 5-10 nearly daily

4) yesterday I tried ur method: only choosing higher value low miles requests. The day bumped 5 trips $24 dlls. Not sure your method works in my area. My average weekday is $36-60 with 95+% tips . In 7 trips $2-3, 2-3$3-6 and 1-$10-20.
I only started this a few months ago and I've never seen any surge prices either (Kansas City metro). The only thing I've seen is the 1.1-1.3x Boosts, which only affects the base pay. So I'm definitely not driving across town to get an extra $0.30 per order. I'm definitely staying in the area where there's lots of restaurants and better tippers. I do get quests, which started pretty decent but now end up being about an extra dollar per order after like 8 orders. It's nice if they hit, but I don't plan my night around it, I'd rather focus on the orders that have the best tip potential.
As a UE driver and a long time Dominos Delivery Driver, may I ask how on earth it takes you 1 hr 20 mins for any delivery? At dominos I've taken triple orders that went to the edge of our delivery zone and gotten back to the store in 35 minutes, 20 mile round trip and 3 stops.. lol
Do you know how the quests work? Are quests a random event or are they reserved for people on diamond status?
I don't think Mike would be diamond status. I'm just starting but to go from blue to gold, you need an 85% trip acceptance, and that's just not a viable way to make money

I am new to Uber eats and have seen 2 quests only so far. First was July 4, 2022 week end ( no brained; Uber eats wanted to make sure they had delivery people for a busy week end). Second was tonight Friday 07/15/22. I am not a diamond; usually gold or platinum.
I really love your tips! I do have a question for you though. I drive in a market where certain areas are Apartment complexes with zero legal parking and I often have to park illegally. Is there a way to review if whether the order is going to an apartment complex in those areas before accepting the order?
On Ubereats, the address for the customer shows on the initial request. Once you take the request, no further information on the customer's location will come up until you complete the restaurant pickup. So no. You don't know until you complete the restaurant pickup. And yes, I hate buildings too 😅
@@mykeemm Exactly. You have to look at the destination and make a quick decision whether to deliver it or not. I have got it wrong before and regretted it due to the area it ended up being in in fact that happened earlier today. It's messed up because of the fact that those areas are like dead zones for good pickups so you have to come all the way back to get something decent and I really hate that

Why I deliver? Because I live in my car and need to pay my bills and keep my car running. Should I divulge THAT? I often get higher than expected tips anyway.

What about when you get to a mall or shopping plaza and you don’t know which store to deliver the food to? And the customer doesn’t pick up their phone or respond to text to let you know where they are… do you just cancel??
In the app you can say that you arrived and it will start a timer, usually about 12 minutes or so that you do have to wait to see if you get a response. After that if still no answer, you are not held responsible. Try to leave the food to the best of your knowledge/what you were given, but if there is no specific address, directions were frankly vague, timer is up, and still no answer from the customer...do whatever you see fit. Toss it or enjoy it, up to you.

yes, it happens. Just the law of large numbers. I have cancelled after dropping off the first order if it doesn't make sense.
Not knowing that your car insurance does not cover you while doing deliveries is a HUGE mistake.
