There's a better silver sword that you can get in Velen. It's a relic. It's called Maugrim. 130-160. Pretty easy to get It's one of question mark left of Hangman's Alley.
Actually I do have that silver sword Maugrim and it has higher damage mine is 165-201 with 3 rune slots but could only use it at Level 8 which is the bummer, but definitely a sword to get after you hit level 8 but moonblade is great cause you only have to be Level 4 to use it with good damage output and 3 rune slots, thanks again for the reminder about that blade tho I appreciate it
@@Gross126 yes it can vary between levels there are multiple of the same sword in the game that you can find but most of the time if your leaving white Orchard and head to Velen and go for the sword right away it's a level 4 at least in my experience but if you level higher then yeah it can show up a higher level, which isn't a bad thing, just means you should hopefully get to use it longer right lol

I also found another relic sword with 3 slots that filled with 2x 20% armour piercing and 10% damage boost, I've got the full griffin armour set as well but I can't use them yet because I'm only level 9.. 🥳
@@HamboneGaming_ you should. Havent commented yet on amy videos but I dig ypur narration and in depth know of the game and easy to follow explanations. Id watch if you did a playthrough.
Doesnt matter what sword you use early levels on DM Upscaling On, when you put devana rune and get 5 out 5 poison blades, you melt monsters that are 30 levels above you in a seconds, and honestly .. you dont even have to change steel for humans, since Axii - execute kills everything.
I just started a new play through to purge my dissatisfaction with "a few" things the show did. I received a good sword from Trollolollo, I'm pretty sure I was wearing the new elf of a thousand dances set, and it was 10 damage better than anything I had access to and had 3 rune slots. It had one of the alien sounding Deithwein/Gyn'vael names and the model for it looked like the twin to Vesemir's silver sword. I just bring it up because it was the reward for painting the geeky chicken coat of arms rather than killing him.
Damn. It was only 54-66 for me on Death March, which was exactly the same as the one I'd already gotten - Ultimatum (relic). But Imma try it out, it's bonuses look better. Thanks!
Should we go for the early game complete sets (which includes their own silver swords) or go for special items like the Moonsword which is said to be one of the best in the whole game?
The earliest Witcher swords you can get are the Viper swords for level 2. After that, it's the Griffen set at level 11. So early game, ie, pre-level 10 is going to be the Temerian Armor set(you can buy it for 1k from the NPC you and Vesemir save from the Griffen in a cutscene.) At level 10, you can buy the Nilfgaardian set from.the Quartermaster in Crow's Perch. It's. A major upgrade which will carry you for awhile unless you get the Griffen set.
Well I’am a new player and I do appreciate the videos, but to keep things going with what I’ve learned and wasn’t said..... I think the damage is based on the level, the stats are random and can be “cheated” (tried this with the moonblade). My first headhunter sword (and only one so far) is a 49-61 dmg at level 5 but a +35 armor piercing +50% crit hit dmg bonus +6% crit hit chance and 2% dismember.... if you quick save just before opening one of these chests and then reloading it if you didn’t get good % you can always load it and try your luck again. The damage will change too from my experience but only slightly, hence why I think the level you get it at only determines the damage of the weapon. (I personally will save this one and moonblade a little bit longer for the damage and then keep rerolling the stats when I do go for them at a higher level, viper swords are at the same damage right now but they give bonus exp)
Just as an update :) went back to this one at level 9 and got a 80-98 damage at 44/59/6/2. Near enough to perfect for me not to load it again. The sword is now at this level and these stats at level 7.
as nice as these relics can be the randomness of the level kinda annoys me, first time i got a moonblade i was lvl 4 using lvl 1+2 viper swords and i got a lvl 2 moonblade with worse stats so ended up being vendor trash for me
the easiest Relic sword to get is the Lost Vran blade, you get it after you wreck on Skellige, after you speak with the islander loot the ship wrecks. its in one of the chests...
I too used Headhunter and then I got another steel sword in Velen. It is Forgotten Vran Sword at level 9. It has 92-112 damage with 12% critical damage, 4% critical chance, 10% chance to stun and with three rune slots. I was playing as completionist on death march so I levelled quite early.
