TheBatesee! How glad I am to see you make another Cry of Fear video. I saw it pop up right away and actually watched the whole thing right to the end, and it was very enjoyable! It's finally here! Sorry for the wait; it's been a heck of a journey trying to get this big video done, both for personal and computer-y reasons.
You may notice some stuttering followed by a dip in frames from time to time; I've switched to OBS for most of my newer videos, but it flat out refused to cooperate with CoF!
So Bandicam, bless its heart, recorded four hours just fine, save for a few moments where it forgot to record the (surprisingly) abundant frames it was given...

It's great to see you back and playing more obscure games like CoF, Madness and Gris, man, it's an invaluable sort of "safe haven" for others like me who greatly enjoy these gems. God, it's so surreal to see a NEW B8see Cry of Fear video- the original series became something of a comfort series for me. Every time I go watch the first episode for nostalgia's sake I end up watching the whole thing over the next day or two.

You know, I think that you're the only person that I've seen play through this game... respectfully? I don't really know what other words to use. But every other person I've watched, just seems so detached and uncaring of what they're playing, or hams it up for the views with dumbass jokes. You got a really good flow to this style of horror. You grasp most of the context and hidden story-telling really well.
As someone who related to Simon, in an albeit unhealthy way for years, this games holds a special place in my heart. And a very dark reminder of the person I could've turned out to be if I didn't get my life together.
I am the same as you and years ago I felt like I could relate to Simon, though not entirely that bad. I got a bit obsessed with it to the point where I would listen to the soundtracks in bed. And even though we pulled through and improved our lives, it's still the only game I truly love. And the only game I bought the soundtracks for.
Being lonely, bitter, negative and full of self-pity really does change your perspective on life and your surroundings. And even though I am no longer suffering from those negative thoughts nearly as much and nearly as often, it's still a part of what makes me me, and always will be.
Longtime fan so this is a return of the king. Still rewatch your Simon video every once in a while. Keep up the great work!!
Ahh, Cry of fear. One of the last series you played before you took a break. I enjoyed it. Especially that while you uploaded 30+ minutes videos, it barely felt like 30+ minute videos.

I remember always watching "Who's Simon" video over and over again just hoping you'd make more Cry of Fear content, or content in general. I never thought you'd come back to make videos to make more awesome commentaries and what-not. Im truly happy to see you again, like seriously.

Just sat through this whole thing and got hit with a massive wave of Nostalgia after Ending 4. I'm glad so many people are able to recognise Cry of Fear for how great of a game it is, despite its engine limitations it still manages to be one of my favourite stories of all time. 5:08 I haven't watched the rest yet, I don't know if you've learned it later but David is the main character of Afraid of Monsters. It's the previous Half-Life mod of the maker of Cry of Fear. I would say it's still fun and worth a try. You can find it in Moddb under the name Afraid of Monsters DC. You'll need Half-Life on Steam.

Oh gosh I don't blame him x) There's a handful of janky parts that were infuriating on my first playthrough; I guess that's to be expected with the nature of the design and game engine.
That's great that he finished it anyway! It truly is a special game.

Cry Of Fear is a special case in that it's one of the only games that brought me to tears when I played it
I love how much you talk to Simon like a friend, instead of a character you play as in a game
I'll admit, this is late and I don't usually comment, but I'll do so anyway. I just wanted to say, that as someone who battles with depression, self-loathing, and the urge to perform self-harm, I really appreciate how you (Batesee) handle the topic, with actual care and respect for the matter. Furthermore, I must admit I identify with Simon's mental struggles, and your words of encouragement, even though directed towards a fictional character, were honestly quite touching.
In other words, glad to see you're still touching upon this game, and thanks for treating the subject matter with the care it deserves.
This can't be a coincidence... I recently found your old Cry of Fear playlist again and re-watched it multiple times a week, mostly at night when I was going to sleep. Then, all of a sudden you return to doing TH-cam vids (which is, btw, fuckin awesome on it's own and I'm happy you're back) and you surprise us with this gem of a game. I just wanna say it's great to have you back mate. Great video as always
I have seen many, many playthroughs of cry of fear but nothing ever compares to actually playing it yourself. I picked it up last year and even though I knew what was coming up no amount of prep could keep me from jumping. Truly a masterpiece of a game
One small detail I love about this game, when your gun is out of ammo, and you pull the trigger, it clicks, dropping the hammer on an empty chamber. However, unlike most games, pulling the trigger will only make a slight trigger pulling sound afterwards, since the hammer is not cocked. Such a small, unnececary detail I've only seen in like one other game. Most games will either do nothing when you try to fire an empty gun, or (unrealistically) make a clicking noise every time.
Cry of Fear, in one way or another, has shaped my life and my future. You introduced me to it, those years ago. Took me on a nice stroll through Sweden, showed me the residents and fought off those nasties. Now, current era, I’ve met so many friends through the Cry of Fear community that it’s almost mind boggling. Batesee, it’s good to have you back. I know there’s hundreds of comments down here telling you how much they like ya, but, hey. If you decide to click on this while checking your notifications or Email, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all this. Godspeed.
Funny that it's been a year now. Friends remained and friends left. This game is still always going to have left its mark on me, one way or another. It seems like you can never really escape your past, only deal with it or keep trying to run.

Wow.. For someone who has never played through this game (because it's very spooky for me) your videos were always there so I can experience it with you, so thank you for that. And also like Who is Simon, this playthrough actually feels so compelling to the point where I with you and Simon feel at peace after the ending scene. Thank you for letting me experience all of this.
It’s actually not as scary as you might think on easy mode. You get the Glock pretty early, and it 2-3 shots most enemies.
it is super weird how much I find playthroughs of CoF to be somewhat of a comfort to watch. definitely something in this game touched something in me (although I got one of the bad endings and I'm too traumatized to play again). so glad to see you come back to this, I adore your playthroughs and this game!

Having all the extra weapons in that room feels like a bunch of trophies, a lot of dedication, patience, effort and, by far, the genuine love you have for this particular game.

Dude, I got whiplash watching this, like a serious blast to the past. I hope you do more videos like this. You have no idea how good it is to have you back doing content like this, even some of your newer stuff is fantastic. You have content that goes on for much longer, and while some creators end up dragging it out for long periods of time making it uninteresting/boring, you usually find ways to keep people watching. I'm not sure if it's your voice, the nostalgia from five years ago, but it's refreshing to hear none the less. It's fantastic to have you back.

Whenever you have to reaffirm Simon you sound like you're really there next to him. I thought at one point you were going to break down in TEARS trying to save him. Phenomenal acting even if you didn't mean to act that well!
I remember when I was discovering YT gaming channels and this game was brand new, such memories.
Everyone considered it one of the scariest experiences ever and rightfully so, even I was scared just by watching them play.
Watching this video made me realize that we all need a friend like Batesee in our life, because not only are they kind and open and appear as an all around great person but they also seem like they would be an amazing therapist.

Oh my god, what a journey Batesee, I rewatched this series a couple months back reminiscing on all the good times I had watching all your content, this is brought one big smile to my face, can't stress enough how good it is to have you back
Hey Batesee, I don't know if you'll read this, but thank you. You introduced me to this game a few years back, Junior year of High School. At first I was just watching you play, but then I decided that I want to play with you, in a way. So, I installed the game and caught up to where you were at, can't remember where that was, but I played through the game myself and man, is it one of the scariest horror games I've ever played to this date, probably the one that induced the most fear out of me. I went through this experience with you back then, and I got ending 4 first play through. I personally have never played to get one of the other endings, I can't bare the thought of leaving Simon to such a horrible fate.
In the end, I think this game gave me depression for a couple months, or it left me feeling sad. Despite the 'best' possible ending you can get, it's still sad, and it left me sad for a while, but that's okay, I managed to pull through that part in my life. Honestly, I'm so happy to see you back, I love your videos man, the way you interact with these games makes me gush a little when you have those small cute moments, such as with the ducks back in SCP.
It feels weird, seeing you upload again, but I'm happy to see you uploading videos again, I hope your videos gain traction in the algorithm. Weirdly enough, I'm going through some bad stuff right now at home, and seeing this game show up in my feed again from one of my favorite content creators of all time is a bit weird, timing wise. Coincidence? Maybe, but I think I can push through it, you and Simon have given me quite a bit of inspiration to try and push through, to the best of my ability at least.

Your character vid on simon made me appreciate him alot more then i orginally did when i first played. So to see you return to this game makes me happy.
I love this game to bits and I'll never forget my first playthrough but it so hard to return to knowing I'll have to go through that fucking maze at 1:00:39. This section has given me light panic attacks 2 times over and is the only section in any game ever that's ever made me have to walk away from my PC and collect myself. Its also the only horror game I've played so far that had me completely immersed in the world, there's normally a huge disconnect between me and the game but in COF I felt as if I was Simon traversing this hellish world. I find it truly impressive what this game accomplishes and how it can make you feel.
Hey B8C! It is ever so relaxing to see one of your videos as you've been the tuber/creator of relaxation for me for the past couple years. I sense that not only your way of narrating but also the way you talk like you have experienced similar emotions helps a lot. I recently moved abroad and want to say that no matter how you or someonelse feels, there is a way to fix it. Keep doing what you love and what you want to pursue. Also! As an almost-english major I'm 98% sure the word you're looking for isn't 'euphemism' but maybe allegory. After all, a euphemism (generally) is meant as a more pleasant alternative to a phrase. ...and while, for example, Carcass is a phenomenal personification of how Simon feels about himself, I'd struggle to call him pleasant in *any* context.
I tried playing Cry of Fear, stopped midway through Chapter 4 at the part where you have to use flares cuz it terrified me way too much ;w; something about having a light source you can’t control and runs out quickly while being chased by something just behind the door of the room you left just triggers all my “weeping kitten saying nope” responses.

jacob just trust me when i say this most of the horror in that area comes from mp3 sounds / darkness all you have to do is to push through. if it helps at the last parts of the ventilation stuff theres gonna be a wall with bricks or something that has a jumpscare which has a crawler coming out with a hammer towards you
