Kick stand has nothing to do with starting the bike. The kick stand wiring is for the trans meaning it will shut off if stand is down and you put it in gear. Clutch sensor is disabled if it's in neutral. Do not have to pull in the clutch to start it unless it's in gear

Hey TJ, big fan of your work. Got a doozy here I'm hoping you could shed some insight on. First & foremost, this is 99 Shadow ACE Deluxe VT750DC with sawed-off Cobra pipes, stock airbox, stage 2 Cobra Jet Kit. Bike ran perfectly for 2+yrs, had just gotten back from a bikefest about a year ago when this took place...
So as mentioned, about 1yr+ ago, while idling to go out, I go back into the house to fetch my gloves and come out to witness a "much louder than typical" backfire, [more like an explosion], again, on idle, then the bike turned off and upon firing back up, the bike turned but idled poorly and began popping and backfiring every 20-30 secs, still ON IDLE. I might've forgotten some steps I did as I'm returning to this project from over a year ago, but here's what I did, as I'm recalling...
Checked for fuel/dirty fuel, filter, clogged line. Nothing found. After checking spark, and compression [140+ on both I believe], pulled the carbs, gave them a once over, even pulled the jets, gently ran wire through them, popped them back in, same thing. Filter was dirty so after replacing it, I flushed tank with fresh eth-free fuel, found dirty petcock, replaced with a new Honda OEM one, along with both in and out hoses and clamps. Replaced fuel pump as it was rusted out and as I am now fully vested into getting my baby back up and running, I've thus far spared no expense. Which included taking the carbs to a local "specialist"; [just to get a fresh-pair of eyes on them]. As expected, I was robbed, charged me $200 for a "full carb soak" and when I took the rear bowl cover off, there was NO sign of any cleaning. The plastics and gaskets had not been removed. Shame on me.
And, I'm now back to "you want something done right, do it yourself!". So I embarked on a near complete overhaul of carbs outside of separating them [sync'ing them can be a nightmare], got a great deal on a kit online so, I removed carbs, replaced needles, pilots, jets, looked ok, but were pretty worn, so, I replaced these, main and slow. Got a new jet kit identical to the one it was running perfectly with previously, float valves, bowl rings, floats recess calibrated to 7mm, threw on new boots and clamps, cleaned both air cut-off valves and new U-rings. Vac chamber looks good, diaphragms are fine, no holes, checked pilot screws, 1/4" turned out,, getting blue spark, swapped rear plugs to the front, still cold, got new NGK plugs anyway. Got new plug wires and plug boots. Checked coils all testing at or over 4 oHms, swapped these as well, with same results. Got a spare ECU, swapped out, let it run for a few for learning, issue persists. Even checked the battery, seemed a little weak, but I bought a brand new STek AGM at under $30, at this point, why not.
So far everything seems to be pointing towards timing, or valves, [God I hope not]. Perhaps there was a bad mix that caused an explosion so harsh that it jumped a tooth? So before I crack her open and go through needless engine surgery, I'm here to ask, is this, in your expert opinion, possible? Do you have a write-up or video on setting the correct timing/chain, etc.. I can see you have a passion for this platform and have seen most of your posts, you obviously know what you're talking about, unlike the "part-replacing" morons in my area. Been at this for a while now, so your help would be immensely appreciated, brother!
Current Status: Bike powers right up, but only running on rear cyl, with loud intermittent bangs and pops. Front cylinder's pipe, smoking gray/blue when light accelerate, and smoking upon shut off, as if rings were the cause but compression tests pass. Front bowl has fuel and like I said, the spark is good. Sorry for the tome!

I came here because i got honda rebel 125cc and it has no spark. Couldnt solve it myself. Sent it to shop they fixed it and it cost like 100 euros. In Latvia quite expensive since monthly AVG wage is about 500 eur. Then i run it for 1 day and it died again. Basically i turn it on it runs great and while warming up after 1 minute it died. And no spark. Then i took it to another shop and spent another 150 euros and it ran again. For a few days. Until same happened. I came in the morning to warm it up then it died. It's like it ate all the fuel from carb and died. But there is fuel. Thought it's cdi, but if cdi dies it stays dead. As much as i understand i took apart some stuff and checked wires and fuses. All good. (not 100% sure about wires) I am lost. Maybe you can help. P.S. Good luck with your channel! Subbed :)

2000 Shadow Aero 1100 C3 34,000 miles, carbureted... It seems like it's running at half power, takes forever to get up to speed. No backfiring. Spark at all plug wires. Compression at 150 front 145 rear. New plugs, rear left plug is already gas fouled. New fuel pump from previous owner after the bike sat for 6 months. He didn't replace the fuel filter or the secret air filter for the carbs...Battery is at 13.40 Volts revved up. I'm thinking fuel filter and carb re-build... Thoughts? :-) Thanks...

Honda 2003 ace. Sometime starts right up. Sometimes lights won’t turn on & a click when I push start button. Now the lights come on & no spark. Sometimes it starts & I turn it off & try again & just a click without lights. Jiggling the battery & the box holding wires (including ignition wire) usually gets a spark & it runs perfectly again. This morning the jiggling isn’t working. I had a spiderweb & spider inside the start button housing. Cleaned & still no spark but light are coming on.

My 2001 isnt either.. going to trace the plug wires to the coils ..then check the coils see if both are good..if they good going to check the wires..hope its only maybe a loose ground on the coil..dont think both plugs would go dead on the same cylinder but going to check them also..mine been sitting five years..hope to get it running before spring ..only problem i have is it takes as long for the honda dealer to order it as i could on ebay..usually ten days to two weeks..ha..just to get a gas line hose ..dont stock many parts for old or new..good luck on yours..

I have a question. My question is, I have a GSXR 600. I have spark, I have fuel, the bike starts and ran fine yesterday (April 10 2022). I don't hear knocking and things Making clinging noises. However, two cylinders are not running I cleaned the injectors I am pretty sure they all work. I ohm tested them and they all read that they are good. I am getting fuel. But I am only getting two cylinders working. Three working yesterday and now only two. I don't get it any info will help

After an hour or so riding bike dies. Will crank over but not catch. After a few hour it will start and run fine.
Gone through all the obvious then test ride and it happens again.
Suspect now its the Ignition module. No longer made, so have to buy a used one.

I can hit the starter but a bunch of time and then hold it on I can't get spark sometimes let off starter try again no spark again check all the safetys they ohm out correct I'm clueless I'm check the basics it all started i went out one morning hit starter it started first lick then shut off after a second or 2 tried again it started but did same thing until the battery went dead. Hooked up jump box eventually I got it started ran great I cut it off and tried to start it again nothing just turns over until battery goes dead. So I checked spark no spark. I thought it was that 100ohm resister in there that's working correctly. But I can hit the starter button a bunch of times because I was passed and I can eventually get it to spark then try again no spark. Maybe pickup coil any ideas people

well, this isnt just one bike... im not sure youre understanding why i post videos like this.
im just covering some issues one might come across, to help people out. Any issues ive seen on these bikes is because someone fiddle-fucked around with it and didn't have a clue what they were doing, or, the bike was left outside.
i am working on 600 that was left outside for 10 years. after an oil/filter change, coolant flush, plugs, and some cleaning, it runs fantastic! people find these things in all states of disrepair from neglect and I get questions, so when i make a video its not that youll have these issues, many of my responses can apply to a wide variety of vehicles as well.

@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS The first bike I bought had been seriously abused and left out in the weather. The first thing I had to do was rebuild the front forks. They were stuck down making the whole bike stand more vertical on the kickstand and easily blown down by the wind.
It was not fun nor easy. In fact, one of them I could not get unstuck no matter how much I tried to twist and pull with tools, and ended up buying a used replacement fork for it on ebay.
Don't leave your forks or your motorcycle out in the weather or sunlight.
I drive mine year around as my daily drivers, though I don't drive as much any more as I use to. Just hauling groceries. My bikes from the early 1980's still run like new.

I move it from the barn, to the front yard, no problem, cranks right. 15 minutes later, I try to crank it up to leave, and I've been in No Spark h377 ever since. Bike turns over, won't crank. This bike is a lemon and does not deserve its reputation for Honda reliability like my other two Honda air cooled inline twins. Fresh gas, 50 amp quickstart charger switched on, robust turn over. No solder is an amateur move. I'm sorry and don't mean to be rude but I honestly have a feeling you probably don't understand how to solder properly. If you have a good temp controlled iron (Weller, Hako), use the right tip and understand how solder moves and bonds things there is no better way. It took me ten years before I could be proud of my solder work though, so keep that in mind!! It's been a godsend to me though over the years and as a professional technician I really do cringe everytime I see a butt connector. At least use a decent Molex connector man. Again rookie (or ignorant) vs experienced opinion as far as I am concerned man. I strongly suggest you reevaluate. You'll never see a butt connector on a professionally built bike, Molex connector sure but a butt connector?!?! No way man... Also, there are probably over 1,000 solder joints on any motorcycle made in the last 30 years; go open up one of those ICM's as you call it or a handlebar switch or a turn signal or a brake light or an ignition coil or a pulser or a key switch or a fuel injector... the list goes on forever man. I think it's you who does not understand solder my man!!!

Wait wait wait WTF... the clutch has to be in and the kickstand has to be up? WTFFFFFFFFF!!!!! I'm about to throw a brick through a Honda Dealership window.
Make a video about how to disable all this fucking happy horseshit, I don't want any of this horsesh1t on my motorcycle. Get rid of that bike fall over fuel pump thingee too. Just NO. Absolutely NO. All this stuff that can keep your bike from cranking or running, or fail and keep it from running, has absolutely got to go. Nobody knows this stuff has to be done. None of this applies on my old Honda Bikes. WTF did Honda just go straight to h377? I'm destroying my starter because some dmmn safety switch might be triggered somewhere... for f-sakes for real? Lets hope it something this simple, before I literally end up tearing the whole bike apart to find some problem and then throwing something through some glass somewhere...
I tried all of these... bike in neutral, kick stand up, fresh gas, kill switch off in run position, and still I got nothing but rrrr rrr rrrr rrr.
Don't get me wrong, kudos for you for pointing out all this stoopid sh1t is on my new bike... and needs to go.
This is the kind of stuff that without knowing it, will leave you stranded.
I'm breaking out a screw driver to jam in the spark plug wire and a can of ether next... because... WTF Honda, WTF....
