  • In today's video, I review the Rockville DJ system. The principle components include two Rockville RPG-15 internally amplified PA speakers and the Rockville RBG-15S subwoofer.
    Each RPG-15 speaker has a 15” woofer and a 3” tweeter. Each speaker’s internal amplifier is a 1000W peak, 250W RMS amp. The RBG-15S subwoofer has a 1600W peak, 400W RMS amplifier in it with DSP bass boost and adjustable crossover settings.
    These are awesome speakers and are very high performance for the price. The RPG-15 speakers can be purchased for around $174 each and the RBG-15S subwoofer can be purchased for about $300 (at the time of this video’s release).
    If anyone in the Phoenix metro area is interested in my DJ services, contact me at DielectricVideos@gmail.com.
    The test song is called “Energy” by Elektronomia, and can be found on NCS here:

    Thanks for the video. I just ordered 4, Rockville RPG10's to use as monitors with my 5 piece band. I was ready to pick up 4, Alto TS210s when I stumbled on the RPG10s. $1k vs. $480 all in cost between the two, so I went with the Rockville. I may upgrade one day, but at that price point, why not give them a try? There's just not a lot of "live" sound demos on the Rockville speakers, so thanks again for your demo, information, and review.

    Do your RPG15 have any audible hiss with no source connected? I'm thinking about tinkering with a pair in my home theater, but audible hiss at low volume levels would drive me nuts.

    • @DielectricVideos
      @DielectricVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do get some hiss, although it is still almost imperceptible unless you are very close to the tweeters. If you are sensitive to this, I think you would have better success with a different solution for your home theater.

    Do you dtill like that sub? I have Peavey tops and was running an Eclipse 15 subwoofer that I got for $25, Ebay had it at $900 and I finally blew it with my QSC amps. I wanted to get 2 subs and they will only be used outside.

    • @DielectricVideos
      @DielectricVideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jorge Serna I very much like this sub, however, it's internally amplified so if you've already invested in external amplifiers you may want a passive subwoofer instead.

    I just learned about the Rockville brand by doing a search for folded horn sub cabs. Then I found your vid here. You are an intelligent young man and I enjoyed your vid. I was impressed with the bang for buck sound from your setup there. Just one note. You have probably learned by now that those so-called "modified sinewave" inverters are really a crazy distorted square wave! Nearly half the the power those things output is distortion. You are lucky that the built-in smoke wasn't released from any of your equipment! Pure sinewave inverters are getting much more mainstream now in price. I suggest a 1000 watt 12volt pure sine inverter and run off @ least 2 deep cycle marine batteries in parallel if you do any outdoor gigs. Your electronics will thank you.

    • @DielectricVideos

      I believe only the XLR ports are pass-through on the RBG-15S. You might try a set of RCA to XLR adapters to supply both the sub and PA speakers via the XLR pass-through.

      The speakers have been extremely reliable and in the 5 years since I bought them I have not had any major problems with them. I did accidentally drop one during take-down after a gig, which caused the tweeter to break off of the case internally, but after repairing it with some plastic epoxy, the speaker was as good as new.

    I bought a Rockville set up a couple years ago the FM sounds really good but hooked up to my computer or Bluetooth it sounds terrible FM seems to have four times the power then the computer or Bluetooth. Is that the way it is or is there something wrong with it ? My power base works great on FM but maybe 10% on my my computer or Bluetooth. Is there something I can do to fix it. The FM here is mostly nothing but commercials. The set up that I have is the RPG-152K 1500 watts and the base is the RBG-15S 1600 watts.

  • @forceitmusic
    @forceitmusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For low distortion, you could use a crossover to split frequences, so two output. Less bass will be sent thru 3-ways, and more bass will be sent to subs, so you get a perfect sound!

    • @AndrewNelson1985
      @AndrewNelson1985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s not how that works, it would make the high tops clearer as well allow the subs to sound less muddy and boomy. Decreasing bass on one can don’t increase the bass on another cab. An x over allows you to fine tune the frequency range of your drivers nothing more.

    A speaker doesn’t output power, it outputs decibels. That’s why a speaker with a sensitivity of 99dB/W/M and 100w power handling is much louder than a 90 dB/w/m speaker with 500watt power handling. So the real important part is the sensitivity of the box and not the power handling.

    I have a ROCKVILLE RGB-12s powered sub. The LPF is from 40 - 150. Would the 12 inch sub suffice for outside application like a block party?

      Brandon Mayhue You will need a 3.5mm jack to stereo XLR adapter, but yes, you certainly can!

    Awesome review..how did you make that sine wave tool box ?

    • @DielectricVideos
      @DielectricVideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I took an old toolbox and mounted an inverter in the bottom of it. Then, I attached two LiPo model airplane batteries in parallel to the posts of the inverter. I drilled holes for ventilation, as well as for an outlet on the top which I then connected to the inverter. Finally, I added a display with a voltage module to track the battery voltage during use. I included a balance charger, but a BMS with a regular CC/CV battery charger outside the box would also work.

    I got the rpg 15 and if i turn the volume up over a quarter of the way the clip and limiter light come on strong. The speaker still sounds fine but those lights come on. What advice can you give me? Does this happen to anyone else with the rpg 15?

    Anyone use this setupnwith a live band yet? I would rather go with a Rockville 18 inch powered sub. House set-up. Nothing major, synth keyboard, click track, guitar, bass guitar. A few drum mics? Just for rehearsal purposes.
