I love working on, and filming Toyota repairs... especially rust free Toyotas.

I have an 03 Avalon. Just hit the 300K mile mark. Still drives wonderfully. Could use new struts though.

Don't buy ebay/no name struts. They will fail in a year or less and your ride will be worse than if you kept OEM.
If you must, then buy KYB. Good original supplier. Tokiko also original but MUCH more exensive.

Seen that before on other channels, the heater element burns out ;)

Peter, is that Craftsman scanner 20899 the only scanner you need for your business? Does it do everything you need? Do you have to pay monthly subscription for scanner? Thanks for the help!

@@proudtexan5513 Usually no time for answers. No subscription for this Craftsman. Professional shop benefits from live data or graphing tablet. Techstream TIS is useful but too expensive and not recomm for home DIY.

I used to own that very same scanner 😅. Very respectable diagnostic tool, and served me well for years.

When my 15 YO Prius dies in about 20 more years, I’d love to get an Avalon 🤣❤️

just replace B1S1 on my lexus rx300 1MZFE, once u get the harness disconnected u can OHM check the sensor to see if its out of spec , then replace. recommend getting free O2 sensor socket set from Autozone to remove sensor. Worked for me. Antiseize threads for next time. Plugging harness in took some gymnastics and I think I moved the cruise control cable to reach in there. Also sprayed harness lightly with silicone to increase my chances on not breaking the connector. good luck it definitely is a DIY job for us. Also spent bucks on Denso OE sensor for Rock Auto, about 150$ cheaper than "Toyota dealer.

Just did that sensor on an ES300 if that's the one between the firewall and exhaust manifold. How many miles did this one get? I recall the one I did was about 175 or so. Easier access from underneath

Those oxygen sensors are like capacitors in air conditioning units. They live a hard life in the heat and thus fail quite often. 90% of 'no AC' calls are caused by burned out capacitors in your AC condenser unit sitting outside in your yard. Many 'check engine' lights are from either failed oxygen sensors, or from bad or loose gas caps. Buying an inexpensive scanner is a great investment, so that dishonest mechanics can't scam you.

And most times when AF sensors fail, it's the heater circuit that died. Rarely do you need to change the downstream O2 sensor, it doesn't live in pre-cat heat! The worst for home DIY is the 1MZ-FE V6 right bank. It's a transverse engine so it sits between the firewall and the exhaust manifold and that's fiery! People done understand that when they get an engine light, it doesn't mean it tells everything electrical that could be wrong with a car. It only tells emissions problems. The big failure one is the dreaded P0420 if it leads to a poisoned cat from fuel or oil. Dishonest mechanics are everywhere now. I was reading a tech on SMA say that he would charge a person diagnosis fee plus labor time for not giving him the business to fix a bad coil if the owner only wanted to fix one. Scum.

Hi I have 02 Avalon that has a problem with Bank 2 Sensor 1 Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor. Code P1155. What would be the easiest way to get to that sensor. When I looked it was obstructed by lots of things. Do you have any suggestions. Thank you.

Thanks for the video! Didn't see you for two weeks, and was about to text you but I know how much you hate the sounds..
You can make "shorts" if you wish. They are less than one minute videos. If you see a drop in views. maybe it can help.

For me, living in an arid part of California, it’s almost always the sensor, not corroded wiring. In other parts of the world, maybe not…
