To all aspiring magda players, please note that while magda is fast, it is not a turbo deck. Its shell is meant to play as a midrange deck. If you try to turbo out, the deck will not function well in a cedh environment. Add cards like null broche, soul guide lantern, orbs of warding, vehicles to crew, 20 removal spells, and less mana more rocks. Dockside is just a acceleration tool, not a wincon. Cloudstone is too slow of a wincon in cedh.i also would take out recruiter. Its too slow and mana intensive of a tutor. Instead, improve card quality with utvara hellkite, maskwood, ashnods alter, elixir of immortality, and bogharden hellkite
To also note, i do think your friend's magda deck has too many dead cards for a cedh environment. Through playtesting, ive found a stronger control package with the backup win being maskwood nexus and utvara hellkite boosted my winrate up as a midrange plan. Magda is a great toolbox commander and can stop every cedh strategy. Example) i killed a player doing consult thoracle by getting memory jar after the consult resolves with magdas search trigger. I also have stopped many top deck shenanigans with soul guide lantern.
It's a strong deck but not the type I typically play. I prefer games to last a little longer but it's neat seeing the ultra fast stuff every once in a while.
It was a cool video with an awesome deck. HOWEVER, it really shows that you didn't play the deck enough. The deck is one of my favorite and i'm looking around to see what people do with to accelerate mine. There are a bunch of cards you missed the main use of. The spring leaf drum's main use is , well yeah of mana, but most importantly tapping your creatures without attacking with them. Finding ways to circumvent the need for attacking with little creatures like these make the deck even safer and faster. The imperial recruiter is here to get the dockside more than any other dwarf, acting as a second matron most of the time.
I did not play this deck and was trying to explain it best as possible. I usually go for simpler decks that either cheat things out or put lots of counters on creatures.
Cards for consideration for this deck might be Maskwood Nexus - as it allows you to fetch any creature from your deck Dolmen Gate - allows you to attack in within worry Hellkite Charger - take infinate combat steps as long as you create 7 treasures per turn Coat of Arms - who does not like an extra win con Am running a very watered down version of this deck, and the above have all proved very effective Also 7 Seven Dwarfs is also fun when wanting to power down, but still add power to the board
The worst part about this deck, is that it wins even through a lot of interaction. Smugglers copter entirely gets around combat. Clown car is a new crazy win condition. Magda's infinite is literally uninteracteable if you don't have split second.
Cloudstone curio is not needed. You can do find without it. Just use "temple bell" with "alter of the brood". Treasures will come in and mill them to 0. Then make all your opponents draw a card. I once tried to do that combo and my opponents had no artifacts. So I took a different route
That's correct. You need a goblin to make it work. But since it was already out I used it as an example. Albeit I should have got a different card. I put a disclaimer in the description for it. Thanks!
@@kevinroby6774 it's really any cheap creature. Universal Automaton is just an easy creature that illustrates most of the loops in the deck, however in this instance you are correct that it wouldn't work with cloudstone. Cloudstone/dockside is a pretty common loop in anything that has access to dockside.
Yes you can have fetchlands because they do not contain mana pips of other colors. One of the strange quirks about them that makes them all the more useful!
okay ... but if each treasure token comes untapt , and you tap'it using clock of omen, now you can't tap these for mana because says : tap and sacrifice to add a mana ... i'm a bit confuse
This is where you would tutor with Magda's ability search for a "Maskwood Nexus" which this deck doesn't have and then tutor out "Xorn" which is also missing then you run the loop again but this time you have infinite tapped and infinite untapped treasures. A faster win is I would just tutor a "Maskwood Nexus" then either a "Ingenious Artillerist" or "Reckless Fire weaver" which again this deck doesn't have but if you run the loop again with the Artillerist or the Fireweaver out you kill all your opponents.
Magda doesn’t care if the treasures are tapped. She can tutor out whatever she needs to win. You can grab Xorn or academy manufacture to actually create infinite treasures depending on the build but it’s generally not needed to have infinite mana. There are tons of ways to build the list but basically once you get to 5 treasures and an artifact dwarf you’re going off or w 10 treasures you can search out the win. At instant speed. W/out casting a spell. Prob don’t run pyroclasm though 😬 That should be delayed blast fireball or another targetted removal.
Pyroclasm seems like a strange include. Is his meta very dork heavy? It just kills magda's entire board most of the time so that seems a bit iffy. It also doesn't kill drannith magistrate and that card shuts your deck down if you can't get magda out.
@@CRGGames honestly I wouldn't know lol, I'm trying to relearn how to play. Last time I really played it was 96. I started recollecting almost 2 years ago and NO one around my area plays besides Pokemon. Actually there's really nowhere to get cards either but I'm building little by little from buying online.
Well heck! I ought to do a general video on how to play Magic! There's been a lot of additions to get game since 96' but the main rule still applies. Magic is about having fun! I'm not necessarily a competitive player. Just collect cards and play a bit at FNM and on the weekends so I feel ya there
@@CRGGames same, I'm not into being the champ lol but having a few friends to play with is the best. I can't stand playing online so I'm stuck playing Pokemon with my daughter 😁 actually that's kinda cool tho
I have a kenrith, the returned king deck I built with my friend for 1100, it's a reanimator deck with stasis, just because it's cEdh doesn't mean I know how to pilot it, he's better than me at using it, I just got back into magic last summer and started playing again this past September and it's my 1 year anniversary playing with my current group starting around September 9th, took me a good year to figure out which deck I liked most, just remade my kaalia deck last week from multiple decks I failed making and couldn't commit to- ur dragon, becket brass, boros artifact angels, and syr konrad, took out the key pieces like the tutors, angels, demons, dragons and vandalblast, still can't find my master of cruelties and my single copy of razaketh is in kenrith for my wincon as a sac and search outlet, still need to get another copy, for now I will proxy, my group is very fine with that- don't waste your money and time, just proxy

@@XtraBeessorry, how is clown car a win condition? I'm building this deck and this one I don't get it, if you can please explain

How would that second win con work? The cloudstone curio says "nonartifact permanent" to bounce cards, the automaton is an artifact.

how you return dockside in hand with artifact shapeshifter if cloudstone say nonartifact creature

I've seen this deck win by turn 3!
