    Bought an '01 in '21 to see if I liked it. I came from sportbikes, and wanted something nicer for the wife to ride with. Found I loved it and upgraded to a '15 for last year. I love it.

    I had an '82 Goldwing Aspencade, and it was as nimble as any bike I've ever owned, and more so than several! They're fine motorcycles for anybody wanting to spend a lot of time in the saddle.☮✌

    I have had a GL1200, a GL1500 and now I am riding a 2012 GL1800 which is the year they improved the seat, stereo, forks and steering bearings. Cannot complain about the power or the handling. I don't like the lower miles on the tires. My 1500 got great miles from the bias ply tires and never noticed any handling problems. I had the 1500 for 13 yrs and loved that bike. Well thanks for the video, be safe, have fun.

      @@d2destinations106 it's said. The phrase is The dark side in that of a car tire on rear. I will have to look into that more as it is expensive to have to replace the rear tire and we all need great tires on motorcycles especially when you only have two you have to depend on. 🧐👍

    The 1200 is the Golden Jewel of the range ... I enjoy it the most , especially the interstate due to it being one of the lightest wings ever made , but yet can carry a ton of stuff if need be . Personally they look the best with the engine exposed , all the chrome , I never tire of looking at it . Contrary to popular belief , they handle fantastic , nimble at speed , I regularly scrape the footpegs leaning the old girl over and she countersteers like no other touring bike I have ever ridden and after 38 years she looks and runs like the day I bought her with maintenance of course and a lot of detail cleaning ... Yep , I have ridden all the wings but that 84-87 Wing generation always calls me back

      I’ve got an 84 that I’m riding and love the hell out of it. Smoothest ride I’ve had on any classic/antique bike and so reliable! And it still looks like a motorcycle to me, not all plastic.

    Don’t forget the Goldwing was first offered for sale in 1975 in the GL1000, in 1980 the GL1100, in 1984 the GL1200. Many of these bikes are still on the road today, many with several hundred thousand miles on them and still going strong, some even with over a million miles. I’ve owned a 1978 GL1000, a 1984 Gl1200 Interstate, and currently a 1995 Gl1500SE. I also had a 2008 HD Ultra Classic for several years which got totaled hitting a deer, that’s when I went back to Goldwing, the most comfortable bike you can ride. Once you ride a Goldwing, you can’t ride anything else! 😉

    I think I've ridden most engine sizes in the series prior to the 2012 platform. I've owned a 1500 and 1800. My 1800 was the '09 and part of the final build from the States. Wingers probably know the 09-10 models were done together with color options being the only difference. I'm chewing on another one. Great Wing report, thanks.

    • @d2destinations106

      I have seen examples of the latest generations, suspension failures. At this point, I think they are few and far between but time will tell. I know Max at Traxxion Dynamics has parts that are stronger and more durable for the 2018+ models. I have a Traxxion Dynamics front suspension on my 2002 and love it !

    I know from Honda mechanics that I’ve spoken with, the GL1500 had maintenance issues that were a bear to deal with.
    I have a 2015 Anniversary Edition that has been a tremendous bike for me. I can get $200 worth of groceries in the bags and the tank can carry me 220 miles. It isn’t quite as far as my older ST 1300s but it sits easier on the ground and is plenty quick for an old man of 77.
    How have the new forks held up since 2018? It looks like a complicated piece of gear.

      Sit on one with a spotter and see if you are comfortable. If so, test ride one. Once moving, the low center of gravity makes it feel much lighter.

    • @d2destinations106
      @d2destinations106  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Too many miles is price dependent. These bikes have gone over 150 to 200,000 miles with regular maintenance. If you can find one with less than 20,000 miles on it that would be a steal. I would not be afraid of a properly maintained bike with 40,000 miles if the price works for you.

    A comment, but not bitchin'...had a 1994 GoldWing and did not like it much. Seemed pokeyish, but i was a young man. Now have a 1992 Honda ST1100, which is a superb bike, of course much sportier ride but fine on long rides too. But I'm thinking of a GL1500 from 88 or 89, as low in cost, and I can do all mechanical work needed, and have. So I'll try again. Getting older, want laid back ride position. We shall see what we shall see....
