Great video . I got rid of my Harley’s and bought a Goldwing . I lost a lot of riding buddies because of it. But that’s ok i guess they really weren’t my buddies anyway. I’m like you to me it’s about the ride. Not the biker image. Love my Goldwing. It never breaks down.
That's disappointing I have a Roadking that I will keep But there's a Wing in my future. I ride with a bunch of Guys mostly Harleys I won't have a Problem with them I've knocked off 200 mile days on my Triumph thruxton. If I bring a Wing they will have to get over it. 😊
I just bought myself a new GW two days ago (my wife told me to do it), and we live just north of the TOTD in Tennessee. She said she won't ride it with me the first time I do it, but she would after I knew what it was like. I'm looking forward to heading down there for the ride. This part of the country has some of the best riding in the entire country. I'm honestly surprised that the roads weren't packed with people, but that's a VERY good thing. It's no fun when you have some mindless rider on a crotch rocket riding your bumper impatiently waiting to pass and making it unsafe for everyone. Thanks so much for sharing your ride!
Looking into a two used GWs for the wife and I. I have been riding for almost 20 years and wife wanted to do it herself last year. Almost 6,000 miles in her first NY summer and her advanced training course I am beyond proud of her. Cross country ride is in our focus and we will be taking our daughters with us when the time comes. Adventure! That’s our ultimate goal! Be together and get lost and make it an adventure. Be safe have fun and let it be an adventure!
Towing the bike I've done rides from Maryland to Niagara falls (Canada), Key west. Florida as far west as California. Recently the Mrs expressed that she wanted to accompany me on a trip to Louisiana. only I knew she could not physically last two days on the bike. So on the trailer the bike went. She had a blast the entire trip. Didn't wear her out. My joy is her happiness 😊
Thanks for sharing. Liked and subscribed. After 47 years since I started riding at the age of 14 and five years without a motorcycle, I decided that I really, really missed the freedom and thrill of traveling on two wheels. Four months of searching netted me my first non-Kawasaki, a pristine '07 BMW K1200S with only two weeks for shake=down before needing to hit the road for the April 8th solar eclipse. My wife and I loaded up and rode from South Florida to just west of Jonesboro, Arkansas, arriving only 20 minutes before totality. Another 20 minutes after the eclipse had passed and we were heading home. The bike ran perfectly. It could pass everything on the highway except a gas station. We had a wonderful ride and were able to check "experience a total eclipse" off our bucket list.
I moved to a cabin just South of Tellico Plains to ride those roads. Tellico is at the West end of the Cherolah Skyway, my favorite 60 mile stretch of road in the US. It ends in Robbinsville, NC at the Eastern end of the TOD. I lived in Tennessee for seven years and did the Dragon about once a month. It’s great fun, a nice test of skills and a great way to brush up on the discipline of riding twisties but it’s only eleven miles and it’s over before you know it. You can turn around at either end and go again. A GW of any age is a perfect ride.
Yes sir...ride your bike to your destination! (I don't understand the trailering thing either. Unless you are also living out of the trailer.) Great video! Thanks
Im from the UK and lately its rain rain rain then more rain. I would love to do that ride on my GL1500. Your roads look good too, over here the roads are getting really bad with pot holes. Anyway great video really enjoyed it.
Thanks. I didn't want her to ride it with me but she wanted too. I was shocked she wanted to. Thanks for the comment sir and please be safe out there 👍
Thanks guys for taking us along on your trip and doing the dragon looks amazing place to ride and yes I probably would be the old guy holding up traffic in the curves I like running along a good speed on the highway especially on the wing I run the cruise to keep my speed down because on it you don't realize how fast your going put I like taking the curves at my speed glad you and Shannon had a good trip thanks for sharing take care ride safe
Thanks Tom. We did have fun and made it home safe and sound. And trust me when I started the dragon I was the old guy. But about half way thru I started getting into it a little more. It was fun but scary to take your eyes off the road. Thanks for watching and the comment 😀
Very nice video Mo. If you ever go back, there are some good other rides in that area. They have a map at the store in Deals Gap that show all the great roads there. I have ridden the dragon many times on Harleys and my Goldwing. Word of caution stay away from the yellow paint on the curves. Ride inside the curve and outside the curves. The pull off are for you to pull over so the faster riders or cars can pass. They recently repaved the road and it's much better now. Ride safe.
I have rode the T.O.T.D.several times over the years, first ti.e was on a 97 Goldwing, with my wife and pulling a trailer, also rode it on my 02 1800 VTX R,my04 Goldwing trike and last time on my 12 Goldwing, it was fun,but next time ride the Cherohala Skyway that is close by and dine at TOPOCA restaurant that is close to the Dragon, new subscriber ,enjoy your laid back approach 😊
I lived only 3 hrs from the Dragon in Tennessee for 35 yrs. I have ridden the Dragon too many to count. For me and my buddies it was only a day ride there and back. I moved to Savannah last yr. and this past April I went and rode the Dragon 3 different times. Great ride but do some others while you are there. I recommend Cherohala Skyway and Moonshiner 28. Dont miss the new section of the Foothills Parkway from Wears Valley Rd. over to 321 its a great ride and the view is outrageous. Be safe, have fun.
Was on my 07 wing on the dragon and had some extremely heavy set harley rider trying to keep up, (after I had passed him) he dragged his foot board, skewered it into the asphalt and ended up in a ditch, his ego and right wrist wrote checks his ass couldn't cash. Great video please stay safe!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's a great way to put it. His ego and right wrist wrote checks his ass couldn't cash🤣🤣. For some reason some Harley riders think that have something to prove when they see a goldwing. My rule of thumb is I don't like to ride behind them. They always try and pass me when I'm on the expressway. I just push it up to 95mph and they give up. I guess too much vibration 🤔 . Did the Dragon for years. Started on a 2005 Goldwing 20 years ago, first trip on the drag was scratching exhaust. What fun. Now we live within 15 miles of the Dragon. Check out Robbinsville. Also Pigeon Forge Rn. Love your background music. Good Job
Thanks for sharing! I’m getting another Goldwing next spring and I also am from Michigan. American Legion Rider and love it. Get with me if you ever want to go for a cruise sometime. I now am riding a 2005 Vulcan 2000.
Great video. Most that crash on the tail are outriding their talent or being careless. Its not a race course its a road with a lot of curves. When riden responsibly it is a fun ride. I spend a week there in the area and in maggie valley every year and there are a ton of rides there and i also live in the mountains of VA so twisties are no stranger to me.
Hey MMJ, Enjoyed the video. Yes, I’ve been to the TOTD. Don’t have to go back. Once was enough for me. Wish the photo people were there when I did. Thanks for sharing.✊🏾😁
Once was enough for me as well. Of course, I had to ride it back, so I did it twice in one day. On to the next thing to check off the bucket list. Route 66. I am going to ride that this spring. Thanks for watching and the comment. Ride safe. 👍
Hey Mo thanks for the nice video. I think you are Mello Mo. I appreciate the calm and thoughtful approach to this great ride. I've been thinking of a GW lately as I am getting to a senior state of life and have some sports injuries. That bike seems to be a good performer also. You have inspired me to do the ride from MA. I want to see the Wheels Through Time museum in Magee Valley so that could make for a nice dual purpose trip. Thank you.
It’s a great ride but I enjoy the Cherohala Parkway and the Foothills Parkway just as much. Great video, thanks from a fellow Goldwing owner from Tennessee.
Mo, I have done the Tail of the Dragon it is a fun ride but there are many other even better rides than that in the area. I also live in Mich and hope that some day we could meet up for a ride.
100% agree with you after a long work week. love taking a ride on my handa goldwing. If you get to wis some time would be awesome to meet up.safe travels.
The whole area is a Blast! Don't forget to check out wheels through time museum in Maggie Valley. Been down there from Michigan 5 times great time. Also hit the Black hills thats a hoot 😊
Great vid Mo! I'm going to Sturgis 2023 so I'm not sure if I will get to do the Dragon this year or not and if I don't then I plan on it for summer '24.
No worries. It should still be there in 2024. It's not that important. It's just nice to check it off the bucket list. Sturgis is gonna be a good trip for you. We are doing route 66 this spring. Just wish the weather would warm up some. Thanks for watching, and please ride safe
Ay Mo. Living here on the West coast, the Dragon is a bit far! LOL. However if and when I get to the East coast it is a possibility. Over my way we have quite a few comparable roads. Not as many turns crammed into 11 miles but still challenging. We have the Bristle Cone Pine Forrest just outside Death Valley. I counted 118 challenging twisties in 10 miles with great scenery all the way down from 11,000+ high elivation. There are other mountain passes on this side of the country also. Bottom line, it's great you got to ride the Dragon and get out on a nice bike trip with the Wife. Life is good my friend. Corventure Dave
Yes Dave life is good. And thanks for watching and the comment sir. It's not all the hype people make it out to be. I been on better roads where you can take your eyes off the road to enjoy the scenery. But I was scared to do that on the Tail. Not much room for error and don't know what idiot is gonna go over the line comming at you. So your not missing anything. Be safe Dave.
I just got back from the dragon. Im in michigan and ride with gwta chapter g. Were in garden city. This is my 7th trip there. I have a 2008 just turned over 116,000 miles. Bought it with 6 miles on it
Yep Allen. You are a rider like me. 👍 I bet she still purrs like she was new at 116 thousand miles. Thats not alot for a 1800 goldwing. Still have many miles left. Thanks for watching and please ride safe out there.
Hey Mo I’ve done the dragon three times I was amazed how popular it was there were people from all over the country not just bikes sports cars and such and they drive like hell, also there are pics taken by several stationary photographers in just the right curves you’ll enjoy it. Enjoy your videos man be safe out there, and by the way it was rumored at one time a Goldwing had the best time in dragon on scar tire at that
Awesome video. I love that you showed the dragon going to deals gap instead of leaving. Most videos are from leaving deals gap. I am going next spring. Keep up the great videos. Ride safe.
Thanks John. Yeah I live in the north so we started from the end of it. I like that I did that. Especially when people like you notice it. Thanks for watching and please ride safe out there 👍
TOD is fun. Back of the Dragon and Dragon Slayer are also great. For a scenic ride that you can look at hit the Blue Ridge Parkway. Glad you enjoyed your ride.
Hi Mo, I live in the area and try to ride The Tail of the Dragon at least once every year. But living here there are many great roads to ride. Looks like you had a great time and come back soon for more riding adventures.
It was a great time Cliff. But now I wanna try something I'm not slowing down to 10mph to take a turn. 25 or 30mph sounds better to me and would be more fun I think. Thanks for the comment and please be safe out there 👍
I lived in the U.P. of Michigan in the late 50s and early 60s. I went to school in Rudyard, Mich. and since I was a kid then I had a blast both in the snow and during summer vacation from the 3 Rs. I currently ride a Can-Am Spyder RT Limited, but I am considering getting a Gold Wing and having "Landing Gear" installed. (If you haven't heard of Landing Gear you can look it up on line. It looks great under a Gold Wing and doesn't have the look of a piece of junk hanging under your bike) I have some balance issues, but I miss the lean, to and fro of a motorcycle. I have never owned a Gold Wing, but that is on MY bucket list. TCRS: Take Care, Ride Safe.
Great video Mo. I live in Western NY. I rode to Graceland in Memphis in 2005 with a couple of the guys I ride with. I was on my new Heritage Softail. I was dragging floorboards on every corner of the Tail of the Dragon. It was a fun time. We went back two years ago, but there were torrential downpours. We didn't feel like riding the Tail in the pouring rain. I put 92,000 miles on that bike. I rode it to California and back. I just traded it for an Electraglide so my wife could be more comfortable on our trips. Michigan is on our bucket list. Stay safe.
Well Mo you and Shannon rode the tail of the dragon the dragon didn't ride y'all, great video of the ride, stay safe and remember ride the wind don't let the wind ride you.😎
Super dope video unc! We're going down to the smoky mountains in a few weeks! Went last year and it was amazing it's wild af you were just there. Awesome to see you living it up. Hi Shannon 👋
Enjoyed your video. I have not ridden the tail of the dragon and plan on riding it either this year of next. I was surprised you didn't run into anyone that was really hitting hard and not staying in the lanes. Good ride!
It is your ride right it the Way you want just enjoy your ride safe enjoy your ride and keep the rubber side down I am 80 years old plan on Writing some more cracked my pelvis this winter so I’m out of commission hopefully I get to ride enjoy your vid
Thank you Mo for showing us your ride on the Tail Of The Dragon. Come on up to Nova Scotia sometime and ride some of our curvy roads. I don't think we have a Tail of The Dragon though. Lol Great video.
Well Melvin. I would be happy to. Love the twisties. However on the tail there are some turns that you get down to about 10mph. That was not that fun. I like leaning into a 30 mph turn. Thanks for the comment and if I ever get that way would love to ride with ya. Be safe and thanks for watching 👍
Nice Mo, that''s my goal for next summer. We are just about as far as you over in London ontario, and probably will also do the 2 days to get down there. Can't wait looks really great down there.
Envious- being on the west coast, Typically if we are in Tennessee or North Carolina or any of that region, we were in a car or RV usually… Buy is it on our touring list tho…Thanks for sharing this video with the world.
Thanks Benjamin. I will tell you I won't do it again. I like more speed then 10mph in a turn. I agree with you sir. Thanks for watching and please ride safe out there 👍
Mo , I get the stickers for my channel from Amazon . I like to send them to other TH-cam channels , and put them places where I ride or hang out for an adult beverage . They’re pretty cheap ( $10 for 50 if I recall ).
Yeah Mo you're right a man's got to know his limitations especially with this sweetie on there this is Tim from North Carolina I'm about three and a half hours away from the dragon God I wish I had known that you were up there cuz I would definitely love to meet you safe travels we're riding north I don't know how far we're going north and early October but if I'm in Michigan I'm going to holler at you
Yes Tim. Can't believe I had a comment from someone that said (man I'd hate to ride behind you) . I didn't want to blow him up but should have. First time riding it and I had my wife on the back. Like I said you have to know your limitations. If you are going to Indiana or Ohio in October just let me know. I live 40 minutes from Indiana boarder. We could grab lunch or dinner somewhere and maybe ride a few miles together. You can always email me mosmotorcyclejourney@gmail.com thanks again for watching and the comment 👍
Awesome ride dude. One to check off your bucket list. I am not ready for it yet. Still a amateur rider. Will be checking out a lot of the scenic routes in that area next month. Thanks for sharing. Will be trailering from Florida. Not a real rider yet.lol
I know what you mean about your wife. I wouldn’t be who I am without her. She passed this year at 60 and I am lost without her. I will be riding the Tail in October. I have a 2007 GW that has just over 16k I was OTR truck driver so I didn’t get to ride it much.
I'm so sorry to hear about your wife. Some girls can make us good men. I hope you have fun on the Tail. It is well worth it. Ride safe, and as always, thanks for the comment. God bless you, sir.
Man riding with my wife is one of the best things I do. Only those that do it understand how close it brings you. From Atlanta it’s a short ride to Deal’s Gap. We do it on a Bonneville and yes slow and easy let’s us do it again.
Since I've been hearing others on tail of Dragon, I was wondering if old Mo an his 1800 Gold Wing had experienced ride an how technical an enjoyable he thought it was? Now here's my chance to know! I've always been a bike rider but don't put near miles on bike as you, not because not rider, but NW weather conditions where I live. on my Gold Wing or less than half of your mileage. But this year little different procrastinating bidenflation an high gas prices! I've done the tail but loved the parts dragon at store. I have a great ride for you in Washington State. Check out NW loop. I've got tire pressure loss issue in my HD Dyna customs wheels, so I've been rising GW!
A great ride in Washington. I will look into that. I up for any challenge. As far as the dragon I liked it alot. It would be nice if you could go 30mph all the time. Some of those turns can be deadly if you are not paying attention. I love the twisties but not when you have to slow down to 10mph to take a turn. So it was a good experience but there has to be better rides out there. I will check out what you are telling me. Thanks for watching and the comment

Sarah & I loved coming along (virtually) on the Tail of the Dragon with you both.
Jon.
Awesome video. I take my Goldwong Gl1500 to the dragon every couple of months. It's 2 hours from home a makes for good day of riding.

Once was enough for me as well. Of course, I had to ride it back, so I did it twice in one day. On to the next thing to check off the bucket list. Route 66. I am going to ride that this spring. Thanks for watching and the comment. Ride safe. 👍
A little late to the party but I brought drinks!! Looks like you had fun!!
I did the tail in a car in 86. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi Mo great video man we have some nice twisty rides over here but you guys have the best 👌 take Mo ride sefe
@@mosmotorcyclejourney9067 Awesome! Have a safe and fun trip!
Indeed Mo, you have to keep your focus.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Mo I’ve done the dragon three times I was amazed how popular it was there were people from all over the country not just bikes sports cars and such and they drive like hell, also there are pics taken by several stationary photographers in just the right curves you’ll enjoy it. Enjoy your videos man be safe out there, and by the way it was rumored at one time a Goldwing had the best time in dragon on scar tire at that
Thanks T bone. 👍 it was a good experience and thanks for watching
After the Dragon a stop at Barborosa’s is a good thing. Motorcycle only parking and a nice spot by the river watching rafters and having a cold one.
Thanks for watching and please ride safe out there 👍
Like the goldwing
TOD is fun. Back of the Dragon and Dragon Slayer are also great. For a scenic ride that you can look at hit the Blue Ridge Parkway. Glad you enjoyed your ride.
I'm fortunate enough living in Charlotte that we're only 230 miles away from Deals Gap where The Dragon is. I ride there annually.
That's not funny. 🤣🤣🤣 I wish I lived closer to it like you. It was a great experience and a great ride. Thanks for the comment 👍
Thanks for the comment and please be safe out there 👍
Great ride guys, thanks.
Hello neighbor! I enjoy your channel. From another Goldwinger in Niles.
Nice ride on the Wing. One day I am going to bring big bird down and ride. I am from the Toledo, Ohio area. You two be safe.
Stay safe.
Well Mo you and Shannon rode the tail of the dragon the dragon didn't ride y'all, great video of the ride, stay safe and remember ride the wind don't let the wind ride you.😎
Come on up to West Virginia we have we have a lot of mountains with alot of turns.
Just subscribed and looking forward to riding that old dragon myself in the future.
A nice day for a ride. The lack of traffic is most excellent.
I've ridden my '08 GL1800 thru the Dragon many times, and riding back down from Alaska again this summer.
Super dope video unc! We're going down to the smoky mountains in a few weeks! Went last year and it was amazing it's wild af you were just there. Awesome to see you living it up. Hi Shannon 👋
Thanks Nick. You will or are having fun in the smokeys. It was a fun ride. Be safe and keep in touch
Thanks for sharing your all's adventure.
Come to Orgon we got roads like that all home tell a dragon to be a bit boring ride safe keep the rubber side down
Enjoyed your video. I have not ridden the tail of the dragon and plan on riding it either this year of next. I was surprised you didn't run into anyone that was really hitting hard and not staying in the lanes. Good ride!
I was too. That's why I filmed the whole thing. I thought for sure there would be something 🤔 . It was a good ride. 👍
I like your commentary and your presentation thumb's up
Thank you sir. Thanks for watching and the comment
Nice I enjoyed it
Nice Mo, that''s my goal for next summer. We are just about as far as you over in London ontario, and probably will also do the 2 days to get down there. Can't wait looks really great down there.
😂😂😂 She said you were trying to be cool.... as a motorcycle rider you are COOL😎
Envious- being on the west coast, Typically if we are in Tennessee or North Carolina or any of that region, we were in a car or RV usually…
Buy is it on our touring list tho…Thanks for sharing this video with the world.
Hey MMJ,
I’ve road the Tail. I personally didn’t like it. You and your lovely wife have a safe trip. 😊
Coming scents goes a long way. We have a road looks like that here in Indiana from west baden to shoals.
Hap0y wife good kife
Some day i wanna make that trip ....looking good 👍
Thanks Edgardo 👍 . It was well worth it. And a great experience. Thanks for watching sir. Hope all is well
All good brother ...ride safe
Enjoy the ride Mo.
Checking out Mo awesome video I never thanks for sharing God bless
Thanks Dennis. 👍 if you never been there you should go.
Great job mo . Don’t forget there’s more great roads there
Mo, You handled it! I was a little worried about you towards the end of the Dragon. I could never do that with my wife on the back.
Hi Mo, I was watching your ToTD video and noticed something on your right handle bar with an antenna. Just curious as to what it is?
I agree, ride it. Until you get old..lol. I've ridden lots of places, on the bike.
Come to Texas and ride the twisted sisters in Leakey tx
What is that. Never heard of the twisted sisters. I guess I will Google it. I'm up for anything. Thanks for sharing and for viewing
Great video !
thanks for sharing, ride safe and stay happy
Morgan is that you? Great video!
Great example of safety!!!
Did the dragon on my 05 Ultra Classic. It was awesome. If I ever do it again it will be on a Gold Wing or Gold Wing Trike.
Nice views its on my pocket list 👌 😎
Come and visit Tasmania, 90% of the roads is that twisty and the scenery is comparable.
have rode dragon tail go at your own pace , and youll have great time check oyt outher roads smoky mt state park..
Thanks Dave. I will. 👍 I want something I can go alittle faster on.
In MI also...great video brother!
When I travel, I like to avoid interstate highways and cruise between 65-70. It's a relaxing speed.
Ride hard but safe this big bo from LA 2005 goldwing
What kind of helmet cam do you have there , and is it tied into your helmet communications , I want to get one thanks
Kool y’all look alike it must be love I’m saving money to buy an 02 Goldwing
Thanks for the comment
