OC Fair is just awesome! Makes me ready for the State Fair Of Texas here in october! Chris, your mobile video looks awesome boss, that OM4 is handling well!!
really fun vid Chris, thank you ! Our fair in Bakersfield is going to open this year and I am thinking about going now, even though I haven't been in about 10 years...
Aww,man! I didn’t realize YOU GUYS got YOUR County Fair this year! WE didn’t down here for the SD County Fair (we just got a shrunk-down “Mini” version that kinda Stunk called “Hometown Fun”)…I’m glad you guys had such a nice setup this year
Yes we have "battered potatoes" served with fish and chips - they're called "potato scollops" for some reason. Definitely NOT covered in other toppings as you've shown. Only toppings would be salt, tomato sauce or makt vinegar.
So it looks like there are the same vendors , rides & attractions as the LA & SD county fairs ? I know the vendor I worked at in this years LA County Fair will also be at those other fairs
Battered potato is pretty common . We call them potato cakes in some states and potato scallops in other states. These American ones seem to have taken some licence . Usually we have them with fish and chips .
Hi Chris. That is a very nice fair. Lots of places to sample some good food. I could spend the whole day walking around and trying out as much food as I can. I guess for now many attractions and other places are accepting reservations to limit the the number of people.. I like it because it doesn't get overly crowded and you could really enjoy yourself. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Looks like fun. Never heard of battered potatoes. Sounds like what I call potato cakes or potato scallops. Just a slice of potato battered & deep fried. Just add salt or tomato sauce. Yum
Awesome review! I go every year. Food is really pricey. But really good. One year they had an unlimited rides wristband. Hopefully they bring that back.
Great walk around!! Sorry no battered potatoes in Australia :) we have oven baked potatoes with their ‘jackets’ on served at most of our markets with lots of yummy toppings!!!
Chris are you doing a video on the OC Fair 2022? My wife and I are going for our first time this weekend! Need a break from the Fresno heat! Can’t wait for OC 🤙🏾
Thank you very much for uploading this video! My family and I were in the area on July 17th, but the sign read "General Admission was sold out for the day." We will be going in August and we are looking forward to going to the fair.
Awesome video as usual! 😃 We do have battered potatoes in Australia 🐨 we call them Potato Scallops (some states call them Potato Cakes). I've never seen any with toppings before, but that sounds delicious! They are more Aussie than the Bloomin Onion which I have only seen in the USA lol Edit: spelling
Just went there a week ago. I felt like nothing has changed. Same food. Same stands. But it was super nice to feel normal! If I can suggest anything try to go later in the day it’s soo hot during the day!!
Just an FYI The LA County Fair just moved their dates. "After nearly 100 years of holding our annual Southern California tradition of ooey-gooey delectables on-a-stick, farm animals and carnival thrills in September, the LA County Fair is permanently moving its dates to May beginning in 2022, when we celebrate the Centennial. Next year's Fair will run Thursdays-Sundays, plus Memorial Day Monday, May 5-30, 2022!" LA County Fair Website
It will be my first time attending the fair the carnival ticket section shows name of the ride and number of tickets what is that supposed to mean.Does it mean the number of the tickets i will be spending on a ride out of what i purchase?? help🥲
thanks for the great video, the fair looks really nice! But what is with those prices? I know california is expensive but 15 USD for a sandwich, a blooming onion or a non alcoholic beverage?
Have you been to other California county fairs? I've been to six different fairs(San Diego, LA, Tulare, Fresno, Stanislau. San Mateo). Its interesting how each county runs their fair, some feel more a community event. The one I am hoping to attend is either the Napa or Sonoma County fairs. I would also encourage you to visit the World Ag Expo in Tulare.
I’m gonna share this with my dad! Maybe he can have fun at the fair later this week. I think I’m gonna miss it :( because I won’t be down there until Sept.
I did see them tell people that they couldn't bring their opened drinks in. How often does that happen i don't know. But I did see it at security on our way thru
Never heard of a battered potato but it looks like what we call in Sydney a potato scallop, not served with any topping that I have seen. When I worked my wife would occasionally pack me a corned beef sandwich and I go and get a scallop to add to the it.
Thank you for the video. Compared to past years, this is a very downsized version of the fair. So much is not there this year. Prices are at all times high for food. Bring your credit card. I do love this fair, sad to see it like this.
I really enjoy America's alt universe when it comes to Australian food haha. 'Australian battered potatos' absolutely aren't a thing, same as 'bloomin' onions'.
T TRu MaaaaTE ..NO SUCH THING HERE AS A battered potato🤯 we have something called mock fish ..they are probably similar t yor hash browns 🤔 shredded/grated potatato

I saw you filming today but didn’t want to interrupt. Glad to see you enjoyed it like me!
Sure did OK! And thanks for not interrupting as I try to do these walking tours without any cuts in the middle.. keeps a good flow that way!
Hey there’s me at 15:45 in the yellow shirt :D keeping the livestock safe and secure!
Neat!
Your welcome for showing you the video 😂😂😂
great video like always my man! cant wait to go!!!!
I’ve been all over Australia numerous times as I live here and I can honestly say I’ve never even heard about battered potatoes🤷🏻♂️
I've lived in Australia for 62 years and its the first time i've heard it as well
nope. never seen them let alone heard of them … closet thing we have might be the potato cake which is battered and deep fried.
NOICE!! Ima about to go, great to see a yellow video !
Awesome Jim
@@YellowProductions dude it was lit, won no prize lol
OC Fair is just awesome! Makes me ready for the State Fair Of Texas here in october! Chris, your mobile video looks awesome boss, that OM4 is handling well!!
I was at a fair with my kids when you uploaded this. Your thumbnail expresses my exact reaction to life being normal again
Glee for sure!
Great video. My family and I were there that day and we actually saw ourselves in your video. You did a fine job of documenting the fair.
Neat! Thanks Joey!
The OC Fair was fun! Thanks for the awesome video 📹
Hey Chris, when will you be going to the new resort world in Las Vegas?
really fun vid Chris, thank you ! Our fair in Bakersfield is going to open this year and I am thinking about going now, even though I haven't been in about 10 years...

Thanks Faye! Interesting!
I’m from Melbourne, been all over Australia & never heard of battered potatoes! Sounds good though!
They are good! Especially with the cheese sauce! :)
So it looks like there are the same vendors , rides & attractions as the LA & SD county fairs ? I know the vendor I worked at in this years LA County Fair will also be at those other fairs
Pretty much Kate.. I think they all do the same circuit. No King Taco at OC or SD though
Thank you yellow shirt for sharing this intro so now I know what to expect lol 💃💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛👕🎒👟
I haven't been to Orange County fair in 2 years, it's about time to visit it again before things get locked down.
I miss the fair there and Costa Mesa swat meet as well.I moved away 3 years ago but always loved that place.
Unfortunately the swap meet is no more after the pandemic.... I really enjoyed the swap meet as well!
@@YellowProductions aw that’s a shame, well maybe they will bring it back if this COVID thing ever goes away.
I hope so!
I think the swap meet is reopened this weekend.

I was about to reply too. I have never heard of these either. We call them potato scallops soo good just add q little salt and your done.... yummmm
@@divineunion Exactly, just salt. Perfect :)
Interesting! Thanks Kellstar! It's kind of like when I had "American Donuts" in Melbourne that weren't quite like any donut I've had in the USA :)
Great to see you again! Any vegan options seen there? Thanks
I'm sure there must be! I just didn't have my eye open for them
