Just a heads up for everyone, as was mentioned in the video Seal Beach doesn't have waves MOST of the year, but in late December - late March Seal Beach does get pretty big waves often. It's actually my favorite surf spot during those 3 months of the year.
IN 1955 WE MOVED TO SB, AND I ALWAYS MARVELED, AS A CHILD, AT THAT CRAZY WAVE NEAR DOLPHIN STREET AND THE SB WEAPONS DEPOT JETTY. ONE TIME, I SAW OUR LIFEGUARD MOTORCRAFT GET SWAMPED, BY A FREAK BIG WAVE, ON A BIG SUMMER SWELL. I LATER SURFED. I WAS ON THE SAME SEAL BEACH SEALS LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM WITH CORKY CARROLL. CORKY QUIT THE TEAM, BECAUSE I WAS THE NUMBER ONE PITCHER, HE WAS NUMBER TWO. CORKY THEN GOT INTO SURFING FULL TIME. I SAW A SEAL BODYSURF A WAVE ONCE, MAN, THAT SEAL WAS SO GREAT. INSPIRED ME TO BODYSURF.
Love, love, love, love, LOVE Seal Beach, lots of happy memories going there, especially the Ruby’s Diner on the pier and seeing the Baywatch filming locations around the area, and remember going to Catalina island, and signing a dollar bill in one of the restaurants there!
It could have been! But remember Seal Beach Main Street very well! That is so sad that Ruby’s closed! Their Oreo shakes were the best I’ve ever tasted!
@@00001kbee No, we had our own restaurant called Ruby's Dinner which conveniently burned. I watched it on surfline and then drove down to watch the fireboats from the port of Long Beach put it out ....
I really like the small hometown feel to Seal Beach with all the small, local shops and restaurants. The pier looks really neat too with all the great views from it. I haven't seen too many videos along the water in Southern California where the Pacific Ocean has been rather calm. Great walking tour!
I’ve always liked the Seal Beach Pier; especially on cooler overcast (not rainy) days, when the sun isn’t out to get you. The view at the end of the pier is really great, at least for my taste. Obviously, there are no restaurants or stores of any kind to be found; it’s basically a viewing and fishing pier - which is a positive feature as far as I’m concerned. P.S. It’s so funny, the Traveling Princess already knows where the camera is pointed at all times, and how to place herself in the shot. 😀
This is January 31st 2023. I live in Maryville Tennessee. We have a place here called Metro Pizza and they have 2 slices and a drink for only $4.95. Very detailed video and great sound I liked it.
Great video. I love Seal beach. There is everything you need in a beach town and pier. The little princess is so cute. The place where you looking is a gang blank for oil island workers to load there transportation boats.
Great video! nice way to start my Sunday morning watching beautiful sunny California, looks like a lovely Pier and Main Street. Your Little Explorer is a really good traveller already. Thanks Chris.
The Boat Ramp on The Pier is used by the Oil Rig Workers Frerry and the waves are stopped by the breakwater - NOT by Catalina Island - which is 26 miles away.
I LOVED OUR TIME IN SEAL BEACH, IN THE 1950s, YOU COULD SLEEP ON THE BEACH IN SUMMERS BACK THEN. WE LIVED IN THE FIRST APARTMENTS ADJACENT TO THE PIER (NORTH SIDE), OUR FIRST SUMMER THERE (*1955). WE MOVED ON TO HUNTINGTON BEACH IN *1962.
Thank you so much for the walking tour Chris. The part about Prohibition is interesting as the 1920s was also Tijuana's heydey, when the stars all travelled there to drink and gamble. Eateries and restaurants on or by the water are so fun! Just wish they had some of them on the actual pier like the ones you showed in your other Redondo Beach Pier video. Keep up with the fun and informative videos!
Hi Chris. Thanks for the walking video and info. . I like the small town vibe of the pier. Nice to get away from the city and relax at a place like Seal Beach.
It must be take your daughter to work day! Cutest co host around! Haven't been to Seal beach in ages! Could use the fresh air these days. Thanks for the remembrance Chris!
Nice tour. I grew up in Seal Beach. The water there is very polluted for two reasons. (1) The San Gabriel River empties out at the north side of the beach. The few times it rains in So Cal, the super-abundance of L.A. County’s homeless encampments’ trash is washed down gutters and dumped down the river to the shores of Seal Beach. Often when I come back to Seal Beach, I spend 2-3 hours picking up trash on the beach. I’ll see syringes, broken glass bottles, shoes, dead birds and dogs, and many other gross things on the shore. (2) The other reason is the break-water jetty blocks off much of the fresh-water flow at the north side of Seal Beach. It almost entirely blocks off fresh water flow along the shore of Long Beach. One can see better fresh-water flow over at the beaches at Sunset Beach and Surfside.
So homesick, but too old now!1977to1990 with mayor of dolphin street😅pier went down in storm then. Love seal beach my home forever in my heart❤nurse dee❤
Thank you for this! I love California piers! I notice there are not many benches on the pier compared to the size of the pier. So are they trying to discourage hanging out on the pier?
Great shots of Seal Beach don't get there enough now live in Arizona. I do have a question for you. Where can I get a headset like yours. How much do they cost
Hi...I live in the Chicago area but I go to Seal Beach often...when you were walking down Main Street I think you missed a store that sells sea shells among other nautical items.it's on the right side of street when you are walking towards the pier...btw cute child...also too bad L.A tore up all those miles of municipal railway..
Hi Tea and Ham... yeah... there's a big Navy Base currently still in Long Beach. It's "weapons storage" and not where they dock any ships anymore. Occasionally I do recognized.. it's always neat when it happens
Cute baby! Thanks for the tour, we will add that to our Disneyland trip in January. We hope Disney allows out of staters by then. We are also into miles and points since 2013 from FT tips. All your videos are helpful!
Thanks Travelz! If you haven't considered a visit to Laguna Beach. I would add that to the top of your beach cities to visit while you're in Orange County
What do you mean parking is free in Seal Beach pier?! There is a pay station in the middle of parking, working from 6 AM to 10 PM with solar battery backup!
i miss seal beach and sunset beach ❤️they were so nice and peaceful newport hb balboa all our spring breaks and summer trips with all our friends growing up i think all of those beaches are getting ruined by developers
I remember surfing there and not realizing that there was a seal feeding. It came for breath right in front of my board and made a huge Baaash sound. Wish I had a bat ....scared the wee wee out of me!
FREE PARKING??? SAY WHAAAT??? Please let the city of Seal Beach REFUND all my parking passes and exactly who is paying for our traffic cop ..Mike??? Not old MacDonald .....

Not sure it was mentioned yet, but that ramp on the side of the pier is used by the boats that transports workers on the oil rigs.

Thanks for all the trivia! I didn’t know all of that !!
Thanks Tracy!
For the coastal series you did a few months ago you should do a video on the whole city of Seal Beach.
I'll add that to my "idea" list :)
I lived there when John's Food King was on the corner of Main and Central. That was neat, uh huh.
Calif used to be such a beautiful place.. it's SAD
Thank you Chris! A Great video, we really enjoyed it! Your cohost is SO Cute, we love her!
Thanks Debbie!
Great shots of Seal Beach don't get there enough now live in Arizona. I do have a question for you. Where can I get a headset like yours. How much do they cost
Also they used to use that slip on the pier to drop off the guys that work on the oil rigs not sure if they do that anymore
There was a Ruby’s years ago at the end of the pier. I miss Seal Beach !!! Cheers from Boston 🍀

Thanks Linda!
This was great! I always wondered about Seal Beach and had heard it was a big Navy stomping ground. Do you get recognized on these walking tours?
Hi Tea and Ham... yeah... there's a big Navy Base currently still in Long Beach. It's "weapons storage" and not where they dock any ships anymore. Occasionally I do recognized.. it's always neat when it happens
2:50 that dock is for the people that work on the oil rig.
What beaches have seaglass?

heaters for 70 degrees! LOL! Wonderful!
A good tea place in San Juan on Los rios, the tea house is good too👌
Thanks for the tip Leila!
My uncle used to live near here in the late 80's. Seems like a good starting point to re-establish a nice Cali connection.
Yeah.. its a nice chill beach town
Absolutely!!
We came to fish here once and we used the wrong bait. Still fun, but didn't get anything. Wow great quality from the phone, I want it.
Your daughter is loving the ride...lol
She sure is! :)
i remember seal beach 1970 waves splash higher than the pier.
Cutest baby!!
No more Topher traveling? But happy to see traveling princess grow up in front of camera.
Topher was in the strawberry video recently! :)
Are you going to post the interview with pompsie ?!
He already posted it like 4 days ago.
Watch it here chancho: th-cam.com/video/5qsvThwCAeA/w-d-xo.html
Seal is below sea level ....hence each year, a water wall is built to stop flooding.
i miss seal beach and sunset beach ❤️they were so nice and peaceful

Damn I feel like I was there by watching
Nice!
I remember seeing a fisherman catch a fish then a seal stole the fish from the line.
Pretty good night pier

oh the ice cream shop at the end of main street is no longer there how sad
Seal Beach Pier restrooms are the nastiest i have ever used in my life
I've definitely used worse restrooms in Mainland China :)
Skip Avilas and taco Surf, if you want real Mexican food in Seal Beach eat at Burrito Jr. For a great breakfast go to La Crema Cafe.
Great video. I am a vlogger also and my content is cooking and travel. Continue to do a great job.
I know you love the baby girl she is getting around good lol 😂
Thanks Will! We want her to see the world! :)
Nice Video. Please get a hat for your baby girl next time. Thank You.
We have a ton of hats for her. She hated wearing them 😀

I been to Seal Beach like five time and my dad love that place all lot It not a bad place there are some nice people.

On the main street that I walked down. All the parking on that street is free.
