The new sequence of events is: “First Class” -> the 1973 parts of “Days of Future Past” -> “Apocalypse” -> “Dark Phoenix." -> the 2023 parts of "Days of Future Past." So the previous films, except for "First Class" never existed
In Days of future past wolverine returns to the changed future and sees Cyclopes alive and Jean grey alive. But in Dark phoenix jean Grey dies. How is she alive in the future in days of future past new timeline ??
If you go back to the end credits scene for x3 it shows magneto manipulating one of the chess pieces showing that the cure was temporary how they missed that idk as for the saber tooth thing it could easily have been that his powers weren’t done manifesting also what’s with all this about the new actors not looking like the old ones who cares
On xmen 1 when wolverine meets sabertooth, magneto says to wolverine: I believe yous 2 know each other. (Something along those lines) which gives a nod to a back story between the 2
In the comics it shows that Wolverine and Sabertooth both have the same powers. The healing factor isn't all there is to it (hence him able to pick up scents). It goes on to show that they are powers do cause them to devolve top an animalistic state. And that Wolverine's at amantium injections saved him from it.
Wolverine's adamantine is a bit special. It bonded to him and due to his healing factor actually became part of his body, in essence it became a brand new type of adamantine. It may take time, but as he heals so does the adamantine. The only way to stop this completely, is to do what Magneto did and strip ALL of the adamantine from his body at one time.
These movies are so confused that they all could have been released on the same day and you can watch them in any order and it would make almost as much sense.
I mean, they had more hits than misses. X-Men, X2, First Class, Days of Future Past, and Logan are all great films. I'd argue that Days of Future Past and especially Logan are better than most MCU films.

First of all the age difference is actually because Logan changed the future and mystique has a believe able excuse and the mutant cure was temporary plus they rebooted the franchise in xmen days of future past and disney bought Fox this year and sabertooth had changed after the events of origins
You missed where nightcrawler was part of the team in the movie movie but wasn’t actually found until a much older age in the original movies and mistique died in the new movie when she was young. How did she come to grow middle aged in the original movies.
The part about Professor X using a new body after he got "killed" in X3 was explained by his powers. Professor X is one of the strongest psyonic mutants and was using his powers to make everyone else think they were seeing him as he used to look, but he was using the body he took over. Which if you think about it connects to the Apocalypse story, and how he could have learned that power. Since Apocalypse was doing it to him, a small part of Apocalypse could have been transfered and given him the ability to transfer bodies, or Charles learned how to do it while he was connected to Apocalypse. Which means Charles could actually live forever
Keep in mind that in OG timeline Apocalype was never awaken (it was becuase of Magneto's speech in DoFP that an Egyptian Cult began the reawakening of En Sabah Nur)
Does nobody remember that wolverine/ Logan went back in time. So maybe just maybe him going back in time changed everything. Also Deadpool isn’t set in the x-men universe(I think).
I think that's fair, althought the Phoenix powers that Jean has in age of apocalypse and dark Phoenix don't make sense. Also the relationship between Charles and Raven is weird
End of Days of Future Past literally demonstrate he went back to OG trilogy X-Men time period which is set in the same universe as the new set of films.
Even in the comics, it was discussed that Jean Grey had more power than she realized. The introduction of the Dark Phoenix in the comics was a lot the same. Not necessarily the scenario (unleashing her power upon Apocalypse), but still a moment when she overflowed with power. Plus, look at the end of X-2: X-Men United. As she's lifting her team to safety, while stopping the dam from collapsing, she has a Phoenix aura then, as well. And the last shot over the lake reveals a Phoenix flying through the lake underwater (in any other context, that wouldn't make much sense, would it? 😂). Point is, Jean already had a Phoenix persona of sorts throughout the story. The Phoenix Force amplified that extremely, and it bonded to her because of that. When Charles was telling her to unleash her power, it was a moment when he eluded to the mental barriers he'd been putting on her. So...not really a continuity error at all.
Well actually, that I don’t think is a contradiction because Days of Future Past reset the timeline and I don’t think there was any indication that she lived in the new future

The alternate timeline would only affect things going forward, not backwards. Ie if the original, unaffected timeline was set in the 2000s with characters aged in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 60s (for Xavier and Magneto), then if DOFP took place 10 years later (roughly) and reset the events by going in time to the 1970s, how exactly would that change when Jean, Cyclops, Storm etc were born? If I am born in 1986 and then in 2010, someone goes back to 1970 and changes things, I won't suddenly be born 10 years earlier. The exact sperm and egg from my parents wouldn't have combined 10 years earlier, ergo, it wouldn't be me being conceived and born.
Firstly, it was explained at the end of last stand the "cure" isn't permeant as magneto was shown already regaining his powers, pay attention to end scenes and credits idiots. Secondly, Days of Future past made these supposed mistakes invalid as wolverine reseted the universe meaning everything will be different. Butterfly effect.
I’ve tried to arrange the X-Men movies order into timelines that fit pretty well (I think). I’m in no way an expert, but they make sense to me. First Timeline. X-M,O: Wolverine, X-Men, X-2, X-Men: Last Stand, The Wolverine, Logan. Second Timeline. X-Men:First Class, X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Other alternate Timelines. X-Men: Days of Future Past. Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Once Upon A Deadpool.
🤔 The post credit scene of X-men Last stand shows Magneto slightly moving a metal chess piece.. thus hinting at the fact that the cure was not permanent.. Also it would be great if actors could stop aging for Hollywood's sake wouldn't it?
Hollywood does know that actors aging is inevitable that is why they have been using computers to de-age them in movies like "X-men the last stand", "Captain America: civil war" and "Captain Marvel".
@@ericpraline For that I suppose they would use the method used to age up Peggy Carter in "Captain America: The winter soldier" or Cap himself at the end of "Avengers: Endgame".
Ranjit Singh except they didn’t for the x-men („Logan“ excluded). I mean, by Dark Phoenix everyone is old enough that you could basically just use the old cast again (and Probst do some de-aging with some make up)
One think you forgot was the age difference for Stryker. I've thought about the not aging part. But, from 2002's xmen, to origin's, the soft reboot of the franchise, strykers age was all over the place.
Wolverine is actually much much older than he looks in every movie he is in. He did not begin visibly aging until he was injected with the adamantium bone casing, which acted as a poison that counteracted his healing ability. It was addressed in Logan. It was not "inexplicable" as you said. The character has to eventually be put to rest and i think Logan was a masterpiece.
The hospital patient is a vegetabilised person he refers to in a classroom scene about the ethics of "psychically jumping into" that person. We can only assume he knows about such a person because it's his family perhaps a twin brother and that's what he does after his destruction, pushes himself into that body. So the classroom ethics problem is a real one he has struggled with.
If you had watched the X3 completley, you would have seen that Magneto was able to move a chess piece with his powers which signified that the cure was not 100% effective. Thus the reason why Magneto and Rogue had their powers in Days of Future Past
And do you have proof of you time line theory? Did the directors say these are different time lines? If they are then thank God Fox is no longer making X-Men movies.
OK let's discuss about Jean Grey in the old movie Xavier and Magneto recruit jean grey when she was young but in the dark phoenix movie jean and the family got a car incident so no one recruit her so WTF parallel worlds exist...
I was recently watching a video which said every one of the xmen films are in different universes hence different timelines But only slightly and it made complete sense so this video can shut up
The one about magneto getting his powers back, in the credit scene he moves a chess piece a tiny bit. This showed it wasnt a cure but it's only temporary.
Seriously?? Firstly, Beast made a serum in first class that backfired and enhanced the gene not surpressed Second, Xavier put his mind in his identical twin brothers body And third, In the comics when wolverines adamantium is removed he does devolve into feral wolverine, if wolverine and sabertooth are brothers theb it makes sense sabertooth would devolve because he has no adamantium I love screen rant but yall were lazy on this list

What about when Raven or Mystique died in Dark Phoenix but laster in the future was shot with the Mutant Cure leaving her powerless
My take on some (not all) of the consistencies is that the events of Days of Future Past created an alternate timeline.
After seeing this video, it is now clear that the whole franchise needs a COMPLETE reboot, the whole thing is fucked up..lol
Actually Logan should be in the second timeline and Days of Future Past in the first.
It's the multi-verse bro
They didn't mention that Mystique was Night crawlers mother and Azel was his father? She was also slave to apocalypse
Do u not understand separate timelines
How did Jean die as a teen in Dark Phoenix if she died in Last Stand when she was way older. Like how?? Why???
🤔
The post credit scene of X-men Last stand shows Magneto slightly moving a metal chess piece.. thus hinting at the fact that the cure was not permanent..
Also it would be great if actors could stop aging for Hollywood's sake wouldn't it?
But that would be super difficult, very much an inconvenience...as is watching these videos (except pitch meetings)
Hollywood does know that actors aging is inevitable that is why they have been using computers to de-age them in movies like "X-men the last stand", "Captain America: civil war" and "Captain Marvel".
Ranjit Singh but what about actors not aging fast enough? Like the „new“ x-men cast
@@ericpraline For that I suppose they would use the method used to age up Peggy Carter in "Captain America: The winter soldier" or Cap himself at the end of "Avengers: Endgame".
Ranjit Singh except they didn’t for the x-men („Logan“ excluded). I mean, by Dark Phoenix everyone is old enough that you could basically just use the old cast again (and Probst do some de-aging with some make up)
Screenrant! This video is wicked!
Michele fasbender evolves into eon Mach Elon and Nicholas Hoult evolves into kelsy grammer
One think you forgot was the age difference for Stryker. I've thought about the not aging part. But, from 2002's xmen, to origin's, the soft reboot of the franchise, strykers age was all over the place.
I could see why mystique didn’t age
It's assumed that Magneto helped give Logan his adamantium back after The Wolverine
Days of Future past changes everything after 1973 and makes everything irrelevant. That and it's a crappy time line continuity.
1000% AGREE WITH THIS!! That was my whole questions got stuck in my mind.
Classic X-Men. No idea how their own universe works... And what the heck is a timeline???
A record of what has previously or will happen
This is why marvel needed to take back the x-men. Fox gave zero fucks about continuity.
What about mystic dying in dark Phenix... Then reappearing in the older but future timeline?
If you had watched the X3 completley, you would have seen that Magneto was able to move a chess piece with his powers which signified that the cure was not 100% effective. Thus the reason why Magneto and Rogue had their powers in Days of Future Past
I get it....Xavier made them remember it differently 😅
And do you have proof of you time line theory? Did the directors say these are different time lines? If they are then thank God Fox is no longer making X-Men movies.
deadpool is a 4th wall breakin character he does not techniquelly include in the xmen timeline.
This confusing timeline fucked up the franchise
Mystique died in dark phoenix but comes back in the original X-Men trilogy
alternate timeline after days of future past !!!
@@vyshnavmanikandan3747 some people don't understand
1:16 Slower ageing is actually part of Mystiques set of power, confirmed in X-men first class.
A lot these have been openly explained by the creators.
Reaching for content much?
The thing is things shouldn't be explained by the creators later, they should be explained by the narrative of the movie itself
@@luciamota1249 Don’t you know these X-men movie fans can’t handle criticism, it destroys their fragile egos.
OK let's discuss about Jean Grey in the old movie Xavier and Magneto recruit jean grey when she was young but in the dark phoenix movie jean and the family got a car incident so no one recruit her so WTF parallel worlds exist...
I was recently watching a video which said every one of the xmen films are in different universes hence different timelines But only slightly and it made complete sense so this video can shut up
How about Mystic and her son Night Crawler. No one talks about that.
They even have a moment together in X2 but no family reference.
YEET is wut they did to the timeline
the original x-men while filmed in 2000s opens with the line "in the near future" so it doesnt have to anchored into any particular decade.
In DOFP,,, jean gray is still alive in the future when logan wake up,,, but in dark phoenix,,, jean gray is died,,, i still confused about that 🤔😢
Redy Firmansyah yup!
The one about magneto getting his powers back, in the credit scene he moves a chess piece a tiny bit. This showed it wasnt a cure but it's only temporary.
Sophie Turner is the best and is doing great in acting just like in GoT, not her fault for ending up in movies people don't like
Seriously??
Firstly, Beast made a serum in first class that backfired and enhanced the gene not surpressed
Second, Xavier put his mind in his identical twin brothers body
And third, In the comics when wolverines adamantium is removed he does devolve into feral wolverine, if wolverine and sabertooth are brothers theb it makes sense sabertooth would devolve because he has no adamantium
I love screen rant but yall were lazy on this list
But they aren't brothers
@@MultiVinniemac who arent brothers?
@@classmst89 wolverine and sabretooth unless they have changed it in the last 5 years
@@MultiVinniemac yea in the comics they werent, but in the movie xmen origins wolverine they literally make a whole thing about it, in the movie they are half brothers, re watch if ya dont believe me
20th century fox: how do u want you time line?
X-Men: Yes
Something to keep in mind is that that is what happened to deadpool was changed in days of future past went back and re-wrote the timeline. That is one of the few changes that doesn’t get really screwy.
OK. Anything that happened differently after days of future past can’t be explained through time travel. However the discrepancies between the flashback scenes and first class are another matter.
Deadpool is not canon to the xmen universe screen rant !
My X-Men timeline:
Timeline 1
X-Men First class
X-Men origins
X-Men
X2
X-Men last stand
Wolverine
X-Men days of futures past
Timeline 2
X-Men First class
X-Men apocalypse
X-Men Dark Phoenix
Different versions of X-Men 1, 2, 3
Logan
Timeline 3
Deadpool 1
Deadpool 2
Once upon a Deadpool
He didn’t even mention how Cyclops had his glasses in 1979 while in high school, but got them in 1983 when he starts going to Xavier’s school.
One of the many reasons the timeline was screwed is the high jackman not being recast as every other X-Men were. That screwed it as well
11:50 at the end of X-Men Last Stance there was a scene that Magneto take his powers back when he was playing chess because it is obvious that mutant cure was temporary.
a very interesting video. Great job
This just makes me believe that you don't understand how movies and real life works
In the comics magneto has lost his powers for a time then gained them back multiple times
The First Class universe and the original X-Men universe are two totally different universes! That's my head cannon anyway
Didn’t Days of Future Past erase the original (2000s X-Men) timeline?
Deadpool is canon to Xmen universe, he just isn't placed directly in it because it's been so unstable. He literally teams up with Xmen members and goes to their mansion. He even made Xforce. Come on guys lol.
It feels disjointed because they recast everyone who comes from the other xmen movies
@@gibsonchomar8362 good choice
Actually Mystique ages very slowly due to her shape-shifting powers
this shows that Marvel Studios should take over the X-Men Saga to get the Story Line straight again. What Fox did is a complete mess.
Completely agree but I think one of the biggest problems is that Fox had an almost perfect cast and trying to replace them will be tough.
You forgot a really important one. If Jean died in dark pheonix then how come we see her alive in the end of Days of future past. Its the same timeline.
It is
But none of that happened
It was erased
