Gutted to see you didn’t film how you replaced small part of wishbone subframe bracket after one of your bolts snapped- like mine- as I was hoping finally my get to see how this bit is replaced! Good job though and I have the same bushing to install! Don’t the rears and feels a lot more solid for it- looking forward to the end result! Keep up the hard work bro 😎
Hint. Remove assemble (if you must) tack weld on a head. PB blaster. Remove bolt. Best case scenario I’ve seen. About to embark on an exhaust fix with similar possible issues.
Nice work on these control arms. I just finished replacing all my rear suspension bushings and I did it all expect the toe arms with a ball joint service kit from harbor freight just fyi. It make life much easier then a using a table vice
Nice instructional on replacing the control arms, thanks! Thought I'd include a link for those who have the DSG box (vid is for a mk5 jetta/golf but will work the same on the mk6) as it restricts the LH front bush bolt removal: th-cam.com/video/yT0yYkOqiQQ/w-d-xo.html. A point that is worth noting, and this seems to be a common mistake repeated across the net with regard to bushing fitting but the bush should not be lubricated where it installs to the chassis (metal of the control arm in this case), as a rule the lub should only be applied to the moving parts within the bush. If there is corrosion, clean and paint but do not lubricate as the bush is NOT intended to move in relation to the bracket. Cheers for all the great content and production!
Great video thanks for posting, what is your car ride like since installing the PU bushings? I have some for the wishbones on my car, I've heard that the ride is a bit rougher with PU Bushings being harder than the factory rubber ones?? Thanks again.
You really should have lubed those bushings with a ton of PTFE. Not super supportive of those ECS bushings though. I went the Powerflex route with Street 80A durometer and they do not have the "hollow" that those do. But, better than stock for sure. Thumbs up.
I used a little grease because there was some corrosion in the holes for the bolts. It's actually not recommended to use any grease, it will throw of the torque specs. Lock tight is also not recommended.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuildsAight, can you please tell me how does it perform on bad roads or may be off road as the place I live has lot of bad roads with big potholes so I don't want the comfort of the ride sacrificed due to the stiffness.
Respect, I'm happy you're getting value from my videos. It will depends on your overall goal of the car, will you keep it stock or plan to modify it? The awd platform is definitely a huge advantage on the R.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds hey thanks for replying! I guess my overall goal would be a clean build with maybe some performance modifications but nothing too crazy, I love the awd platform on the R and the styling however the gti has a massive fan base and is a lot cheaper, overall I’m stuck haha
They do share a lot of the same parts. Yea, that's one reason why the GTI fan base is larger, it's cheaper, Lol. If you choose the R you'll probably end up with less funds to do mods. However, that will depend on your overall budget.
May depend on the brand used but generally the outer bush can be inserted then the secondary internal bush inserted. Note too that the main outer bush should NOT be lubricated where it fits to the arm, all bushes where they fit to the arm should not be lubed as they are to move WITH the arm, only lube the internals (eg. the secondary bushings or spigot tubes on the front bushes). Hope that helps

looking for a video/guide on this myself! i had exactly the same problem he had

"These are the bolts I"ll be using". Spoiler: They weren't :). Thanks for this video dude. It's a lot of work to make them, and it helps me a lot.

Much respect! Cool, I'll look into the ball joint service kit for when I the rear ones.
Nice job...You make everything look easy. I think it would make me relapse for sure...
Keep em coming!
it's doable but tedious, lol. Yea, I got alot more coming.
Excellent video! Will do mine in the spring! Thanks!
It's definitely worth the upgrade.
Good upgrade, its next upgrade for my
Definitely worth it.
Bro your job is excellent 👌 you are so decipline ❤
Thank you 👍🏽
excellent use of the bench vice
Much respect 👍🏽
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds hi hope all is well. Question does these bushing fit the mk6 base model jetta.
nice video clearly showing every step
Much respect 🙏. Yea, I try to add as much details as possible.
you got yourself a subscriber! nice job

much respect👍🏽 it made the steering feels more responsive. I didn't notice any harsh feeling from the front end.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds cool thanks for the advice. 👍

Yea definitely better than stock, I'll see how they hold up.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds how are they?
can you link the new bolts needed?
How did you extract that snapped bolt? Excellent video. I have a 2013 Jetta Sportwagen tdi (MK6). I’m assuming it’s very similar.
I end up replacing the arm with the broken bolt. Much respect! Yes, it's similar.
Is there a way to do this without a vice? Per say a blow torch and maybe a c clamp?
How was the drive after doing the swap? Tempted to do this on a Tiguan but unsure how much difference it'll make..
Made the front end feel more regid.
When Re-Installing did you use lock tight or anything?

More than a year since you got your hands on it. Please share how has been the performance after the upgrade? And any squeaks or noises?
It's been good, performance is the same as when I first installed them. Nah, no noise nor squeaks.

Hey man I love your videos, I love the mk6 but can’t decide between the mk6 gti or mk6 R, in your experience what would you recommend?

hello, did you feel an improvement from this?
Yes, I did. It will even be a more noticeable improvement in feel, if your stock ones are bad.
If you put the red first to the subframe can you put the black after?

Does it require wheel alignment if you only did the big bush on the control arm?
Yes, it's recommended.
Recommended after any suspension part replacement
Bin them ASAP!!!
?
How is the ride quality with these bushings? Any squeaks or other annoying noises?
The ride quality is pretty good. Nah, no squeaking, I greased them.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds still no noise?
@@Alvaro-es1dv Nah, no noise.
has anybody had a creeking sound when braking and setting off? ive just hade these fitted and they make alot of noise
Just put mine in and experiencing the same thing. I thought something was broken. Did it ever get any better?
I removed them as they didnt fit properly, put oem in. They were fine. I got mine from psb never again.
You didn't how you removed the old bushing my brother!!!
This is part 2, see part 1👍
Word thanks I didn't notice
