Well, I don't like to seach tips for decks from youtubers. But you really know what are you talking and really like water monsters, so I like your tips!
I appreciate all the work you 've put into the video. Coelacanth is one of my favorite cards but I think its a bit too risky to play lower amount of handtraps to enable that "ftk" board and make the deck weaker going second. One idea would be to play the combo on the side for going first possibly but they would side in Nibiru by default even if they don't know what the deck does.
I don't know much about TCG as I only play MD, but it feels like Ghoti might be a great contender in the fire meta cause those decks are weak to banishment, and certain Ghoti builds are able to run shifter. Even though Ghoti also needs the graveyard, it can definitly play around Shifter and use it as a going second or side deck handtrap.
Cool guide! Is Abyss Shark absolutely necessary? I know it is strong but I'm on a tight budget right now and would love to play the deck with cards I already own if possible. If it's necessary I'll just stick to trying it on master duel when the time comes
There's at least 2 variants of Ghoti that don't use Abyss Shark. Runick and Super Heavy Samurai (SHS). There are ups and downs to each. Runick plays better going second. Going first, you're playing a very consistent way to summon Arionpos, but there are hands where it feels like you're playing a worse Runick. SHS has 1 card combos, and even a 1 card Coelacanth, but it struggles by not having much space for non-engine. I haven't played either enough to know which is better, but many competitive Ghoti players don't seem to like the Runick variant very much. We post builds in the Ghoti discord if you're interested in joining. Link: discord.gg/BcqwnYad
@@deepseadarew6012 thank you so much for the answer. Shs seems like what I'm looking for. Looking forward to a video about the deck since you mentioned it at the end of the video
There's about a 50% chance of having either Crossout or a Toad. People don't usually Maindeck Nib in the first game, so you're usually trying to steal a game with Coel, then side it out to play a Ghoti combo that plays under 5 summons.
i've been playing arround with superheavies for better extension and play arround nib but i've been having consistency issues, it feels like i'm playing infinite garnets lmao, with the superheavies, running more normal summons is less punishable, would you happen to know other good normal summons for that deck than princess and leafish?
There are a few ways to play SHS Ghoti. 1) SHS Runick is popular now in the Ghoti discord, you can ask players about it there. 2) Mermaid Shark can synhro with Wakaushi into IB The World Chalice Justiciar, it's a Normal Summon I've been experimenting with in SHS Ghoti. 3) Sardine can combo with Wakaushi in an SHS White Aura deck.
i prefer adding 1 fish tuner lvl 3 so we can using that and coelacanth to synchro lvl 10 easily (could be chengying or Aegirine) and without wasted the coelacanth lvl 7 body.
Before Ghoti, we used to summon Greethys. We no longer need Greethys, because there are combos you can do to make lvl 10 Synchro without Greethys. This allows you to increase your consistency of your deck when you don't need a brick like Greethys.
So I have a question about Ghoti. What are your opinions on the strongest version of Ghoti in terms of competitive viability in a fire deck meta now and is having S:P in your extra deck not worth it?
I can't afford S.P, but my Coel deck Water locks anyway. There are more competitive Ghoti variants that main deck Shifter and sides Dimensional Fissure, which will be good into Fire King meta. They also use S.P. You can check them out in the Ghoti discord. I'll add a link in the description.

Dugares doesn't matter anymore. Bahamut + Toad can summon Coelacanth using the same hand. Leaffish sends Coelacanth to the GY. Sthana + Leaffish Xyz summon Bahamut + Toad. Link Bahamut + Toad into Abyss Keeper. ChainLink 1 Abyss Keeper, ChainLink 2 Toad. Toad adds Coelacanth to the hand. Abyss Keeper special summons Coelacanth. Zealantis isn't necessary, we only do 1 loop, but it is still a good board breaker. More useful in White Aura Ghoti because they Water lock more often.
There are some variants of Coel without Eanoc and Foolosh Goods. There are some examples that people have up with in the Ghoti discord. I haven't found a combo that I like yet, so it's an area that I'm still exploring.
Maybe he is just running one Askaan in the extra deck due to space, so putting it back makes a similar play still possible when it is summoned during the opponent's turn.
@oun7945 I don't have an SHS list, but I have this: (The 5 free maindeck slots are for handtraps like Shifter) www.masterduelmeta.com/saved-decks/6550d2ea513ea1551eab9a04
This formats is looking to be extremely handtrap heavy, with veiler, imperm, ash, nib and droll being everywhere. I don't think Coelacanth is the best way to go, its suh a big lynchpin for most of your combos.
This version of Ghoti without Coelacanth looses to the same handtraps anyway, because Coelacanth isn't really the choke point. It's Arionpos and Psiics. It's not Coelacanth that's the problem, it's the pure Ghoti engine. If your opponent doesn't use handtraps on Arionpos and Psiics, then it means they have no Ash/Imperm, so you can commit to Coelacanth. It's only if your opponent knows you're playing Coelacanth, like on the next match, you can side out Coelacanth and play Ghoti combos that do full combos in 4 summons, killing the Nib your opponent sided into. This may make your opponent misplay if they choose to save their Ash the Coelacanth you sided out. Also Coelacanth can combo under Droll, just summon Gymir and Arionpos, pass. There are different variants of Ghoti that play better against handtraps that I will talk more about in other videos.
Lol, how do you feel about linking off Toad? Leaffish sends Coelacanth to the GY. Sthana + Leaffish Xyz summon Bahamut + Toad. Link Bahamut + Toad into Abyss Keeper. ChainLink 1 Abyss Keeper, ChainLink 2 Toad. Toad adds Coelacanth to the hand. Abyss Keeper special summons Coelacanth.

Hmm probably. A Ghoti build that can main deck Shifter will probably do better competitively.
in the current competitive tcg format, which version do you feel like is more viable?
This with coelacanth or a pure one?
Any version that can main deck Shifter. So Pure or SHS. Coelacanth can also be main decked then sided out to play mind games with the opponent.
What do you think of new fishborg monster
Harpooner is still being tested. There are promising signs, particularly in the White Aura variant, where it appears to enhance overall consistency.

There's about a 50% chance of having either Crossout or a Toad. People don't usually Maindeck Nib in the first game, so you're usually trying to steal a game with Coel, then side it out to play a Ghoti combo that plays under 5 summons.

@@bchavez149 In a coelacanth deck? Then you're probably going to struggle getting Coel on the field.

Will it still be optimal to keep a Zealantis and Dugares in the ed or all of the old combos will simply get outdated?
Dugares doesn't matter anymore. Bahamut + Toad can summon Coelacanth using the same hand.
Leaffish sends Coelacanth to the GY. Sthana + Leaffish Xyz summon Bahamut + Toad. Link Bahamut + Toad into Abyss Keeper. ChainLink 1 Abyss Keeper, ChainLink 2 Toad. Toad adds Coelacanth to the hand. Abyss Keeper special summons Coelacanth.

I think askaan in GY is strong, with snopios in hand and zep somewhere is an easy deep beyond, i wouldnt shuffle it back with leaffish

If I make space for 2 Askaan, than that's a strategy worth considering :)
