nice job of explaining how an injection pump works, thank you very helpful.

You’re correct the evidence of the sleeved advance piston is proof that pump is rebuilt. Without being able to pull the head the rest of the way, can’t be 100% the cause- but that is where most rebuild shops make the errors. High probability why this one failed so early. The plastic jamming up the governor could have done something, never seen it before.
As to normal life from a db2- in a ford they have 2 advantages. 3/8 fuel inlet line Leads better fueling. Remember the fuel is what lubricates so restricted fuel passing through is restricting the lubrication.
The timing gears turning it without slop (slapping back and forth) vs gm with the 5/16 fuel line that is limited fuel flowing through and the timing chain that lets the upper end deal with the slap which chatters the injection pump.
    Ford is all gears.
The Ford db2 average around 300,000, the Gm average around 200,000 miles. Not picking on GM, I am a chevy guy.
The lift pump is a massive contributor. You should have 5psi measuring at the injection pump and have gauge in the truck to see while driving. Whenever it is falling you can investigate before failures- plugging fuel filter of lift pump wearing. Remove the rear cone, drill and tap to 3/8 or buy the ford one. Add a short piece of pipe, and Tee. Connect the sensor in the side of the Tee and add the new 3/8 nipple for your fuel hose from the filter to there. Make sure to use sae30r9 fuel line. There is ethanol/ methanol in all our diesel now and it eats the old fuel line.
Plenty of pics where the hose at the pump inlet deteriorated and restricts flow- many replaced multiple pumls pver that hose failure.
Glad to hear adding 2 stroke now. Stanadyne makes lune additive also. NEVER use the 911 type emulsion additive. Wrong type. Never use mystery marvel oil- it is like a cutting oil not good lube.
Replace your fuel return line with clear line. It’s 1/4” about 5” long. Fuel line.com sells some rated for it. At a glance you can see air intrusion, water or other contamination, fuel flow.
There is a free forum with tons of 6.2/6.5 addicts on it. Join me and the others for help, and to share tears of the love hate that a 6.5 brings. Haha. Thetruckstop.us plus if ya ever get tired of the nice lookin 93- the folks that want this type of truck are there.

Thanks for the video -a good way to learn about the pump internals.

Great video! My pump is leaking from the o-ring between the head and the body, and this video let me know what needs to come out before I can separate the head from the body. Thanks!

Very interesting. Ford/International's IDI engines use a variation of the same IP so its cool to see how it works

Man nimmt doch keine neue geprüfte Pumpe auseinander nur um reinzugucken.

    Easy pump to work on.
