To celebrate the release of the 'None More Negative' box set, superfans Jami & Dom from the band Code Orange got to sit down with surviving Type O Negative members Johnny and Kenny about the band's epic history.
In this clip Johnny and Kenny talk about the making of Type O Negative's 'The Origin of the Feces'. This album marked the birth of the band's dark sense of humor and some of the great pranks the band has played on their fans over the years.

I fondly yelled "You Suck" at 4 Type O shows. It was a dream of mine since I was like 12 to see them. Life Is Killing Me tour, dream come true!

@@lfkk4640 Yeah, I went to a couple of Ozzfests and found them underwhelming. Most of the crowds are there for the radio friendly bubblegum pop rock bands that made up 80% of the lineups, while the other 20% of the bands were underground and more often than not more talented and underrated. I remember seeing Type O, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, Voivod, etc... for the most part, those crowds didn't know how to digest that material.

Peter would be so proud of his brothers. They perfectly carry the Type O legacy and humour here. Even Josh does, by... NOT being here (awkward indifferent silence). Well done, lads. Peter couldn't have asked for better. Best band of all time.

They are all really nice guys though. Josh even got me and a friend on the guest list one night because the show was sold out
On one of their last UK gigs with Pete, I was front row, and 3 of us screaming got the crowd chanting "you suck" instead of "more" and "encore". Fuckin 2 hour show then the FULL version of Black no1 and All hallows eve to send off. Man, I'm so glad I got to see that. Fantastic show.

They don't have one bad album, personally the last album, although really good in itself, I found to be the weakest. Still needs a proper vinyl repress.

Origin of the feces and bloody kisses are the two best must own type o albums.It might have been just a rerecording polished version but it was so much better I just forgot slow deep and hard existed.And the songs were more like angry singing and on slow deep and hard it was more like angry screaming.

Man I love this band. It was so unique! Especially in today's music where every single fucking thing is the same. Put everything to the grid, use the same plugins, same amp sims, same cab sims(although you can get creative with that but still), and it's all soooo FAKE!
I got the 1990's drum tracks for When the Levee Breaks, and it floats all over the place to the natural rhythm that the song is intended to have. When I put everything to the grid, then back into the song putting every single instrument to the grid, it's completely LIFELESS! And it sucks in the end! Something to ponder...

I'm actually really curious if there's any intentional correlation between this record and Pantera's Far Beyond Driven. I know they toured together and everything, but you're telling me both bands tried to have a picture of an anus on their front covers?! Lol

He left music completely. Works as a paramedic now.
The story I read on Josh Silver’s Wikipedia page and type O’s Wikipedia page is that during 2005 and up until 2009 he was in Paramedic school training to be a paramedic. Then, Shortly after Peter Steele’s death in April of 2010 he had to decide to quit music entirely because in order to be a EMT or Paramedic you have to be available all the time and Josh could be in Type O and working as a paramedic at the same time.
