      Even back in the 90s when you watch videos of Type O, Johnny was always the quiet guy just chilling in the background. Every top band needs that kind of guy, who knows the correct tour bus to get on, the correct flights to take, the correct hotels they are staying at etc

    October Rust is a Masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!

    • @arthurbishop3173
      @arthurbishop3173 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Diego Still #2 behind 'Bloody Kisses'. OR is too poppy, over produced (even for TON), and largely put together to please Roadrunner (Peter's own words).

    • @Salomon_G
      @Salomon_G 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@arthurbishop3173 Peter also said OR is his favorite TON record. Even after all the other ones came out. I don't know why you're trying to tell people what is what here in different threads. You hold no authority. OR over BK for me. 'Over produced', more like best produced. Whenever I hear people say 'overproduced' it's always on my favorite productions. I guess I like 'over produced' records.

    • @arthurbishop3173
      @arthurbishop3173 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Diego So....BK is the album that IS TON, highly produced but not OVERLY produced, the songs are better, more interesting, have more parts, are less radio friendly (a good thing), and I say BK is more unique than OR, which I like, but can't touch BK. OR is too feminine (Josh's words-I agree), and panders too much to female and radio audience. I do like a lot of it, but it isn't in the same universe as BK, which is rougher, funnier, heavier, and more masculine. Yeah, that's just my opinion, but that's how I see it (and hear it).

    • @arthurbishop3173
      @arthurbishop3173 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Salomon_G Depends on which interview you listen to. There is another interview where Peter says the albums are like his children and he couldn't pick just one.
      I'm a fanatic for BK. I don't/won't lie about that. There's never been a better album released, by anyone, than BK. Think whatever you want, b/c that's what I'm going to continue to do.
      And not 'over-produced' like Britney Spears...over-produced for TON. Why do you think they never went back to such ridiculous amounts of production after that album, even after it became successful?? Again, even JOSH (who PRODUCED the damn thing HIMSELF) has said the album has too many keyboards and is too feminine and has too many layers. Again, you want it as your favorite, do it-your choice. But I like the harder edge of the first 2 albums, BK in particular.

    I remember seeing an interview in a guitar magazine during the making of October Rust and Peter was quoted as saying "There are going to be a lot of military influences on this record." and when it finally came out and me and my brother listened to the entire thing my bro brought up Pete's quote and jokingly said "That was a lie" lol. Type O & Pete are sorely missed. The 90's were the glory days for me as I just got out of the Navy in spring of 1995 and was only 23. I was stationed in Maine so I'd get to go to shows in Portland (Metallica) & other shows in Fitchburg & Boston, MA (Anthrax, White Zombie, Quiksand, Megadeth, Rob Halford's "Fight"). But it wasn't until the summer of 1995 when I got to see TON open for Queensryche in NJ.
    Long story but I moved to Seattle & my brother ended up working for TON which in turn Peter asked my younger bro what my number was & he called me. From that point forward he'd put my name on the guest list and I'd be able to them without getting crushed, near other people etc. Last show I saw them was at The Roseland in Portland, OR. RIP my friend.

    • @arthurbishop3173
      @arthurbishop3173 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GhoulReviews I agree that there are more 'singles' on OR...it's a more conventional record (which is what Roadrunner WANTED Peter to write). I like BK better for too many reasons to list here, but one I'll share with you is that it ISN'T a radio album-NO songs are short enough to fit into radio's idea of 'singles'. BK is its OWN ENTITY. ALL SONGS need to be heard/played in their ENTIRETY, meaning NO EDITED (SHORT) versions...the album is PERFECT the way Josh and Peter produced and tracked it. It's more depressing and yet still funnier than OR, and it's heavier too. The guitars and bass have more edge whereas on OR everything is more smooth and refined (also, REAL LIVE drums by Sal help make BK better whereas on OR, Peter and Josh used electronic drums, which have no soul or uniqueness to them). Again, OR is great record-I love it (don't get me wrong). I just think BK is their real masterpiece-less layers and production, with longer, more hard hitting songs and an original vibe that even OR doesn't capture.
      Why do you think BK is overrated?? If anything, it's the other way around (OR is overrated).

    • @blairvvitch741
      @blairvvitch741 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude can u stfu BK is NOT better than OR by a long shot. OR has a timelessness to it that BK just doesn’t quite have even tho they’re both amazing records. OR just hits every point, fuck over production and yadda yadda yadda, OR is the one of the greatest records ever released

    I REMEMBER the summer of '96 when Ozzy canceled... I was supposed to see Ozzy in August of '96 (in Sacramento, which was usually hotter than Fresno, but with better air-lol). I don't remember who was supporting, but it wasn't TON, and it wasn't a festival. It was the 'Ozzmosis' tour, and the song 'Perry Mason' was big on the radio at the time. Ozzy canceled something like 2 days before the show, and I was so pissed, I never bot tickets to see him again, not solo, not in BS.
    That summer was pretty hot, and I remember hearing rumors that he didn't want to play outside when it was that hot (100-105 degrees). I never got confirmation wrt the rumors, but it changed my mind about ever going to see again.

      He canceled that same year in Spokane Washington too. It was billed as Ozzfest but they were playing in arenas. I was 15 as was pumped for Ozzy with Sepultura (with Max), Danzig and Biohazard opening but he ended up canceling the day before they were supposed to play. Funny enough that was supposed to be my second concert ever, but since it was canceled Type O Negative (with Drain S.T.H. and Sister Machine Gun) touring for October Rust ended up being my second concert.
      I talked to a local radio DJ and the official word was "one of the members of Ozzy's band was sick" but the DJ said it was low ticket sales.

      @@TheRodersAbides 1996 was the year BEFORE I'd heard of TON, but I'm jealous: You got to see them on the OR tour, probably TON in their prime. I saw them in 2000 and 2003, and was also going to see them in Jan of 2008, but was kicked out (and banned for a year!!) of the parking lot for bringing my own beer in (Anaheim House of Blues is owned by Disney, and they don't allow that I guess-lol).

    Can’t believe they’re calling October Rust a failure. It’s easily, by a wide margin Type O’s best record.

    I live under a rock called the bar I work in. Had I known this was going on. And from what I'm seeing, answering online questions. I wanna know if there is any unrelated type o songs? B sides that will ever come out?

    • @KaneRobot
      @KaneRobot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. They would have been out by now. There are a couple of things here and there like the non-Ozzy version of Pictures of Matchstick Men but no unheard Type O songs. Going from memory here but Peter was just starting to write the follow-up album to Dead Again titled "Double Crossed" but didn't get very far before he died.

      @@KaneRobot I watched another interview with Kenny stating that they didn't have any B-sides/unheard stuff because they went to the studio and just recorded what they had. It was just the way they did it. Not really any rhyme or reason. It was just, just was. Like how unicorns are blood thirsty bastards! True story!

    Can someone tell me what song that is that's playing in the background while they're being interviewed. Particularly the upbeat, punk sounding song and the song that has that really heavy Sabbath sounding guitar riff going on? Thanks in advance! 👍👍
