Simmer Down Now.... Simmer down... Paul you smooth talker, she is married.... relax. Yes Linh is beautiful and her culinary skills on point. You either don't know or new here or forgot, she can mix epoxy, paint, get in engine compartment and turn a wrench and master seamstress, does upholstery. Linh made all the covers on SV Basik, to name a name a few of many of her talents, excellent Mom to Emma as well. I already asked no single sisters. Get in line. Ha ha.
18:23 Linh, you are not just a great cook, you are an artist! Also, it's great to see that Teal and the crew are being a source of hope for the locals and bartering for supplies and food!
I Love your cooking , looks amazing .. Everyone only see the Tropical Islands as a sunny place to be . But 20 plus days of rain etc , does show what it can be like .. many thanks for bringing us along .
Well it's tropical, most tropical area's have a wet and dry season and most tourists only go in the dry season, having lived in the tropics the wet season just has a different charm.
I've been watching for a few years now - Wow, Emma has really grown up, while Linh and Teal haven't changed much at all - Did Teal find the fountain of youth??? ;)
Linh, I think you should write your own cookbook. All of these unique and delicious meals would be wonderful to share with others in a book. You would have a lot of people both on the water and off buying it. I hope you can move into a better weather window at a different location. That's very nice you were able to help out the locals with what they needed. How special that is!
OMG 😱. Your generosity to the locals is truly wonderful and inspirational. May God bless you all. Just a great example to set o for the rest of us. ❤ Bummer on the weather. 💨🌬️⛈️🌧️ Thanks for the seafood recipe. 😊 See you next time. ✨🌊💨🌬️⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨
What they really wanted was fuel, water, food, I've seen this many times, they come saying engine trouble then ask for fresh fuel, many cruisers have been caught out. Maybe this case was actually real. But they generally want something. Great vlog, hugs for Compass 💜🐶if I was crew on Basik, I'd be the size of a house, Linh ur food is sublime. 🤙
Emma, yes, it was an entourage (lol). Linh, I'm glad you placed your cooking towards the end of the video. I'm now starved and need to go get dinner. Teal, it was great to see the entire video without you having to fix something on Basic. Woohoo. Stay dry, guys, and see you next week.
Great to see crew help the locals sweet feeling of kindness is shared by all. Great job on cooking. I once made Conch chowder from fresh Conch and it was delicious. I did beat the heck out of the Conch to tenderize first. Fun! I suggest “move on” God bless.
I loved this video! The food looked so delicious. Boating usually comes with the weather. However, I see what you mean! Mother Nature could have thrown in a Sunny weather one or two days. Thank you for your beautiful smiles and for taking life as it comes. I am so liking your videos!❤
I love fish sauce, especially when poured over my charbroiled shrimp on vermicelli dish (#24 at Pho Bang). It still tastes good even after my Vietnamese friend told me how it was made back in the day when he was growing up in Vietnam. He said the fish sat outside on stacked bamboo racks for a good while and after all the juice drained off and collected in a pan below, a guy with a cart went village to village collecting all the old fish. He said that it looked like every cat in the world was following that cart.
These guy need to start trying adding outriggers and Polynesian type sails..or cat boat rigged like a wind surfer, it saves fuel and motor wear also they have a back up for longer trips. Lifes hard for them without having to try to repair cranky outboards with no spares or decent tools.
Seems like it can be a little disconcerting or even taxing when locals ask for things when they see a fancy boat. Besides taxing one's supplies , one never knows if they're just casing your boat to see who may be on board . Blue water cruising safety is probably extensively discussed in Forums . The #OnboardLifestyle family always willing to help !
We are always careful to be kind and generous but also keep ourselves safe. For the most part, everyone is so appreciative of any help we give them and we feel so lucky to have the opportunity to give back to the locals. Something so simple can really change someone's day or week.
The worst part of being there during the wrong time of year is the number of boats that gut struck by lightning. Hope you guys avoid it as it’s not a lot if fun! Our boat has been hit twice. 😊. SV Zia
Wow, sorry to hear about that. Yes, lightning strikes is definitely something we worry about. Had some very close calls that we would have rather it not happen.
Lol, it actually wasn't too bad. Next time I will pound it to make it more tender. It was my first time cooking conch so I am learning more and more about the techniques of cooking them.
Linh do you show them a photo of like crab and lobster to see if they can get anything like that in the area to trade with you for? IDK maybe a Gallon of fresh water for some of there local meat.
Lobster season ended already and unfortunately they had already come by to try and trade lobster for food with us. I gave them the food they needed and declined the lobster because they were too small. We tried to explain to them the baby lobster need time to grow larger, but I don't they understand. This area has been overfished and the sealife is extremely depleted.
I felt really bad for the people whose motor broke down. Why on earth did you not offer to two them back to the island instead of making them paddle after such a horrific day?. 🤔
@genewaddlerandomstuff2122 thank you very much for letting me know that. I was going to say that is just so much not like them they're always so willing to help anyone
We are at latitude 9 to stay south of the hurricanes this time of year. To escape the tropical rainy-season weather we would have to go North through the Caribbean hurricane belt and up the East Coast. This time of year would be to much of a gamble.
@@OnboardLifestylewhat is the plan long term if i may ask? Circumnavigation? Crossover to the med after a while in the carribbean ? Or go back to the pacific?
If it's like any other tropical location The storms are only for 1/2 an hour to 1 hr in the afternoon, and they'd have to go quite far (south of the equator or north out of the tropics) to get to a place that doesn't have theses storms at this time of year, but by the time they got there the season would likely have flipped and they'd be in storms again, better to wait it out and get in phase with the seasons
I used to live in Thailand and I knew you cannot see an Asian and know what country they came from. My son dreamed about a woman and he was told her name is Piyamaporn. He met the girl two months later. They were married and have 4 kids. She was in Bangkok and Lawrence had the dream in Jacksonville Fl. Lawrence is a prophet and a seer like Bob Jones. Bob was dying in Charlotte NC and the administrator was afraid of him Bob typed the secret passcode to his office. Bob dictated messages for 3 hours. Later Don tried to read the messages but they were ancient Arabic that Don wrote. Don was an unbeliever.
We spent over 2 hours trying to fix their outboard issue. We gave them tools (to keep), food, and water. They left our boat and went to the island a few hundred yards from us. I thought they may come back to accept our offer to tow them back but when we looked up two hours later we noticed they had paddled away. It is hard to get every detail on video, sorry for that, but we did everything we could to help.
@ I would have towed them in my tender. It’s just courtesy, but that’s just what I do as I believe that all humans are on the same level regardless of their wealth.
