You guys are absolutely the most enjoyable and fun to watch. Matt’s humor is right up my tree and I am awed by his ability to contemplate a problem and then solve it (generally). Thanks for the show.
I raised iguanas in my backyard in Deltona. Iguanas are the dumbest critters you could imagine. They'll force their head through a small gap in the fence and get their head stuck and ants will form a line right through the hole where their ears are and eat them alive inside out.
I love watching your channel it just feels like home in the jungle are on the boat what i love the most is the fact you take viewers comments with a grain of salt Your both very strong mentally and physically comments good are bad all pay the same .Your good people and live and do things your way !!!
Kristen don’t you just Love Matt’s reasoning of why he should go to Home Depot 😂😂 Atfer years of witnessing Kristen’s designing I trust the the beautiful outcome. But Matt is a hard worker and falls in line eventually so don’t fire him 😂 thanks for always bringing joy to my Sunday’s. 👍❤️❤️
Hey Matt, look into "biochar" and "hügelkultur" if you're doing raised beds for the garden/greenhouse. Also consider some electric fencing woven into that bamboo, iguanas love to climb, but no animal likes getting a little zap, protect those veggies.
We'll keep watching 👀 because you're both lovable characters, and because 8 acres insures we'll be seeing many episodes, my wife calls it "shitbirding" the job done.
Thank you guys for taking such good care of the animals. We have rescued 17 cats over the years and one of our cats had a fetish for only pink or lime green colored toys. We would bury those toys in a pile of toys and she would always dig them out and carry them around... so yes, I think they can see colors in certain shades. Hoping your greenhouse survives even the weakest of storms. Greetings from Guam!
I noticed your previously planted heirloom pumpkins. Those are more appropriate for the mainland. The heirloom pumpkins are susceptible to disease and rot in tropical climates. You may want to try the West Indies pumpkin also known as Calabaza locally. My dad grew those in our backyard in PR and they were delicious for not only pie but also for savory dishes like PR style pink beans (habichuelas rosadas). To get the seeds buy a calabaza from a local farmer, pull the seeds and air dry them.
Life is a continuous lesson. The key is to learn them along the way and not to repeat the ones that didn't work out. But you two are coming along well and will prevail in the end... Thumbs Up!
I don't think the iguanas are going to have any trouble climbing over or digging under that fence. beautiful job anyway. you guys are a treat to watch every week.
For the greenhouse you can use a roll of heavy mil plastic. Use 2" wide strips of bamboo to wrap around the ends of the plastic, then use a staple gun to attach it to the frame of the greenhouse. That's how we did it in Horticulture class at school when our funds were low. ❤😊☀️🐈⬛🐈⬛🐾🐾🦎🍉🍍🍅🌶️🥒🥕🥦🌽🥬🫑🍆🫛🧄 Oh, and do some research on installing a vent/fan in your greenhouse 😊❤ Amazon has really nice plastic sheeting
Those fish looked like bluegills mostly (sunfish). If you're good at filleting, you can get really nice little fish chips. Fried in some oil with salt & pepper - FANTASTIC! Probably not how you ate when trying to make weight. Yes, figure out your spinning reel and then teach your nephew what's what - think of what ridicule he can avoid through life. :)
You can crested a huge compost pile, but I would find a source for bovine manure or equine 💩 to add to your compost, then turn it when possible, the manure makes a difference. Love Mitch and Judy
I have a farm in thailand and we use a lot of bamboo for various structures and mainly chicken and duck sheds around the property,we get 4 to five years use before replacement, the good part is that it is free.I find that termites avoid bamboo mostly .
As much as it rains in Puerto Rico and all them critters y’all are gathering, raising food, and Dead Dolphin is waiting raring to sail. It reminds of the story about Noah. 👍😎🙏🏼✌️
When y'all said on your video you were going to take the catfishing. If you watch it and look behind you, it's either a cat jumping down from the tree onto a smaller branch or it's an iguana
It is nice to see the both of you working together and sharing to work load. When my wife chips in when I am working on projects makes it so much easier and faster.
I hope the bamboo works. You've used bamboo when you first moved onto property chicken coops, Goat enclosures and sure it worked for a while, but not a long while so maintenance will definitely be an issue and on going. With all the other projects you've going on this absolutely gorgeous piece of paradise I'm concerned you'll under estimate the workload that's going to be involved with the upkeep. Matt you're good and do your upkeep of the homestead magnificently, Don't burn yourself out. Enjoy both of you and your craziness cheers
Matt you're a trooper taking one for the team with doo doo water. May I humbly suggest that you put up bamboo crosswise on the fence, making it more difficult for Iguanas to get through.
To fill raised beds, research Hügelkultur. Will allow you to use tree branches downed during storms. Usually takes about a year to decompose and it is FREE!
Permaculture, no till would work wonders but takes longer to produce vegetables. The could start an orchard now an it might produce fruits by the time they finish their home. Time will tell, homes are a labor of love.
Matt, I watched a guy on TH-cam build a long fence project with metal post, driven into the ground with a really neat hand operated machine that drove the post in the ground fairly fast. Then he attached some wood boards top & bottom and applied metal sheets/panels. It was freaking great! 🤗 Cost wise I think cheaper than all wooden fence.👍
your cats are so cute, i live next to a river spitting distance off my back porch but i never tried to catch fish for them, one time i turned on a youtube channel called cat toys and the fish were swimming across the screen and they looked behind the computer chasing it hahahaha.
I love the bamboo fence and yaws place looks great i would screen in the deck and make a great kattio keep living the dream good thing u guys arent here in the states were moving into facism and religous dictatorship we will be lucky if we own anything in the very near future. Peace guys 11:52
FYI: Bamboo touching the ground rots in 6 months (Fungus). Bamboo not touching the ground lasts 4 years at least and up to 6 years. (I lived in Puerto Rico.)
Sprinkle red pepper powder around garden. Everything stays out no real harm. My sister use red pepper seed. Not ground to powder. Came up like a green carpet😅
I hope you put some gravel in the bottom of the holes otherwise your bamboo will start to soak up water and start to rot faster than it is going to already. Also you could keep animals out of your garden by putting up wire fencing that has a tight enough build that it keeps Critters from getting through the fence. If however the iguanas can climb then they will get in there no matter what and they will even climb your bamboo fence if they can climb.
@@eddielane9569 are you done yet? I mean that was a lot of negative feedback without even sounding credible. I especially liked the part “if however an iguana can fly, they will just fly inside the fence if they can fly”. Yeah, and if they are fire breathing, then they could just burn a hole right through it. Flying, fire-breathing iguanas….who knew?
@genesispuredeaf2390 you didn't hear anything about iguanas flying from me so go back and read it again. People can point out what they want to whether you like it or not.
@ I was substituting an even more ridiculous version of your “if they, then they” ho back and reread your own silliness to understand the poke ….all in good fun. As far as making comments, you are correct…it is a public space and the same permission you have to make a silly remark offers me the ability to call it as such.
Creating a protected garden space is wise and beneficial. I could write a book about it but the topic is so expansive and somewhat area specific that the best thing to do is collaborate with a local resident who has a reputation as knowledgeable and successful. Seek out that person and ask them to assist you with soil preparation and balance of nutrients. Also ask for advice about keeping the wildlife out.
Do you have plantain trees? I know we love tostones (fried sliced green plantains) in PR but also try amarillos (fried ripe plantains). You can also boil or bake the ripe plaintains. Delicious!
The Iguanas are going to love their new toy fence. They are excellent climbers.....
There not bad at burrowing either.
Maybe scent the fence with an iguana Repellent(see Amazon)????
You guys are absolutely the most enjoyable and fun to watch. Matt’s humor is right up my tree and I am awed by his ability to contemplate a problem and then solve it (generally). Thanks for the show.
@@johnohare6360 Good onya John. I'm on your side mate.
Camper roof and deck look great. Lot more living space.
That bamboo will be a termite snack. Tropical hardwood is resistant. You should see what the locals use to build their bohios.
At 6:45 an iguana was watching your plans & fell from the tree behind you. Nature will find a way!

@@FreeAtLast4ever That is rather hard to swallow on a Sunday morning. We have them all over the Florida Keys.
@@winterwolf2012 sorry man I've seen it, they have no clue they're body is wider than their head. Dumb

"Taking the cats fishing", that is a great one...
Tilapia marinated in mild hot sauce, BBQ, make great fish tacos. Wonderful video.
Looks like a good swimming hole there 😊😊
Matt and Kristen, it's great to watch you carve out your Home from the Jungle. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂

Matt, you are holding the spinning reel upside down. The reel goes facing down.
Bamboo fence to keep out the iguanas? Good luck with that one! They'll just burrow under it or climb over it.
Nice to see the river not brown from the storms! That place you were fishing looks good for swimming! 🎉
Watching you guys build things kinda reminds me of Gilligans' Island !!!!
Watching this at four twenty, i almost cried with matt's quick quit.😂

You doing a good job keep up the good work you guys I'm proud of both of you God bless you guys❤
Loving the video! Humorous cat fishing, you two are adorable sharing this❤❤ Green house project looking good,
iguanas can dig tunnels. you need chicken wire fence to keep them away.
They can climb bamboo also - they are climbers. I hate to see all that work and the iguanas just climb over like nothing is there.
Looks great!!!
TURN that rod right side up. Please. LOL
Your my one, once a week, I tune in and enjoy, your progress and look forward to your endeavors to the final of your dream. Keep up the good work.
What a blessing. You've got each other and always something to do~! NICE~!🙂
Another groovy episode. You two are creating you dream, and it sure is a beautiful one. Always stay true each other.
I applaud your ambition on building a fence, but from what I see it will not stop the iguanas.

Matt is right about using goat 🐐 waste for composting a lot of farmers winter their goat's in garden to replenish soil and eat out weeds
I really enjoyed the video. matt fishing playing. with the Kitties.
A bamboo fence should keep out the dogs, but I doubt it will stop the lizards. They are really good climbers. Best of luck though. 😃

FYI the dispenseries that grow thier own plants give away the used soil which is very high end soil.
Matt, after just watching you bust up that bamboo, I need to take a nap. Hard work. Good work
That's a nice fence guys, looks good but you know that does nothing against iguanas don't you ?😂😂
