    I always had a good time hauling the marching band. Generally a very good group of kids!

    Great video Ross. Seems to me that anything worthwhile is never easy and I see you are up to your eyeballs in struggle. Wishing you luck with this one.

    Keep up the good work! It seems that any four cylinder diesel engine manufacturer has a goal to see just how many attachments can be bolted onto the sides of the block making it nearly impossible to access anything!😡😩💩

    Ross, you will figure out the timing. The snap ring idea bit you. You don’t need to remove the timing cover. If you pressured the #1 port on the injection pump and turn the pump cc until it locks you will have it set for beginning of injection for # 1 cyl. You can move the snap ring to line up that position to mark it. Believe the pump was to be timed for 15 degrees BTDC.

      Thanks again John! I’ve heard of guys using compressed air that’s a great idea! We’ll see what happens

    • @johnbender1596
      @johnbender1596 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use compressed air, or if you have an injector tester you can use that. There is a timing window in the bell housing and after you remove the round cover there is a pointer that should line up with the mark on the flywheel. Later 8000 Iveco engines had a mark for a CAV pump and a Bosch pump. You can figure out if you are on # 1 compression stroke by removing the valve cover or other methods. You will make it happen!

    I swear that the engineers must've been sitting in a bistro sipping red wine trying to frustrate mechanics that would eventually tackle their creation. You picked a good time to take a temporary break and regain your patience/sanity...whichever order best suits the situation!!!

    Hi Ross, pay attention to the timing mark
    on the actual gear you have peeled off the pump it must fit with the timing mark
    on the bottom gear inside the engine
    Thanks for a great video, have a nice day.

    The shaft is keyed so you don’t need to set the engine in time. Loosen the bolt in the middle it will push it out. It’s a 19 mm.

      @houstonjones3581 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should not have taken the gear out know you need to have the engine in time.

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, sadly I didn’t mark the gear before pulling it. I never gave this a thought that it could be a problem.

      Also the snap ring is not always installed in same place is what the injection shop told me. The gear should not have come out you should have had the mounting bolts off before you loosen the gear.
