A few people have mentioned Robert Palmer’s addicted to love music vid. His came out first, and Shania intentionally flipped the gender roles in hers. She was calling out the sexist double standard in the music industry that used women only as sexual objects. Winona Judd did an interview where she admitted she cried when she first saw that vid. Up until that point she’d been the top female country artist and she felt that after having a baby she couldn’t compete with someone younger and thinner like Shania. Ultimately she realized that the industry was trying to pit them against each other and they’re good friends now. Made me super happy to see women supporting and uplifting each other.
Calling out sexist double standards? Buy dressing in a short dress and push up bra? I call bullshit.
They just did a copy of the addicted to love video as a gag. No more, no less. Get over it.

Shania is Canadian, and she pretty much single-handedly revolutionized country by making it sexier and more pop in the 90’s. She’s sold over 100 million albums. Many country stars of today are simply following the blueprint Shania showed them. Shania’s blueprint. She came from a family with very little money, and by the age of 8 was singing in bars to pay the family bills. She married uber-producer Mutt Lange, and after that her career skyrocketed. We are real proud of her up here 🇨🇦. Secretary, add her to the list! She and Garth Brooks both did that for their respective genders in the 90's. It's interesting how they each impacted other artists and the genre as a whole when they were both on top. I think the two of them dominating around the same time as each other is what really put new blood into country, and turned it on it's head. Lol
The fact that she married Mutt Lange didnt hurt her career. She is from Timmins Ontario Canada. I never met her but she was big in the 90s. I grew up in New Liskeard and went to College in South Porcupine

Shania is iconic 90s country! Love everything she ever did! I know you said to watch her live, but her videos are 50% of the songs. Her style is incredible!
Shania Twain is a huge Canadian singer songwriter with hundreds of hit songs. She is one of the best selling artists in country pop history. She had a very tragic life, lost her mom & stepfather in 1987 & had to look after her younger siblings. In 1993 she released her first album & the rest, as they say, is history.
My home town girl , watched her beginnings with local band mates in early 80s at a local club In high school band she played trumpet , she caught the breaks and promotion to become an amazing artist …..
Her very first hit was Any Man Of Mine. For a fresh faced, fun Shania, give that one a listen to. All her songs are great!! Don’t worry about live just do the official videos. Her videos are fire!!

Shania Twain is probably considered the first Country artist to cross over to Pop music. Shania, Faith Hill and Reba are the ladies who comes to mind when I think of iconic 90s Country. They practically wrote the blueprint for all of the current Country ladies.

Shania was so successful at molding pop and country together that almost all of the girls claiming the country music genre, are actually sounding more like popstars than country singers. Just because you sing with a twang in your voice does not make a singer country. Its like the new norm.

As a kid after seeing this music video I found out there were more interesting things to play with than Legos

Loved this song when it was new. I enjoy all of her music for this era.
One of my favorite memories of elementary school, I am from a rural Midwest area and a small school with Preschool to 12th in one building and still less than 300 students, anytime this song came on or someone started singing it on our bus, immediately everybody- bus driver, 5 year olds, teenage boys - would sing at the top of their lungs.
I saw her perform this in concert and all I can say about it is WOW!

Shania forged the way for women in the industry. Sadly, equal representation still hasn't stuck. The strides Shania and her compatriots made lost ground in the 2000's. Maddie & Tae's "Girl in a Country Song" is an update on the theme--and it is HILARIOUS. I highly recommend it!!

But on a side note, she is from Canada originally. Her ex husband who helped produce all her music was the same producer for the rock band Def Leppard, which is why you can hear a country/rock feel to all her music. They had a scandal where he cheated on her with her bestie a few years ago. My recommendations for her are Any Man of Mine, Who’s Bed have your boots been under, the woman in me, that’s don’t impress me, from this moment on fear Bryan adams, honey I’m home, I’m gonna get ya good, Party for two with Billy Currington

U definitely should dive down the Shania rabbit hole and research the unbelievable things she's gone thru in her life from an abusive poverty ridden childhood to her parents dying and she had to raise her siblings for a few years til they were adults to her husband who was her cowriter and producer cheating on her with her best friend to her almost completely losing her voice due to contracting Lyme's disease she had 2 surgeries and alot of vocal therapy to regain it and it's slightly different now and she has to warm up alot longer before being able to perform but she found a way back to it after thinking she'd never get it back, she also found a 2nd husband who was younger better looking and a much better man than her ex-husband, she also has videos on here if live duets with Elton John, Back Street Boys and others, and a there's a video showing her making the video for a duet with Lionel Richie for an album of his many years ago he helped her get her confidence back as a singer because he's so generous of a person but also had gone thru something similar almost losing his voice many many many years ago and so he understood more than anyone what she was going thru
