I've done splatter paint before but your method looks so much better than the method I was using. I can't wait for my next splatter paint cake order to give your method a go. Thanks again Karolyn!
You’re super talented! I’ve come across your channel today and wow the work that goes into these cakes. How long does it take to create this cake? Love from LONDON
Thank you Jo! Just decorating my cakes takes 6-12 hours depending on the detail. Then add in the baking / filling / icing time, they take a while to make! Sending love back from USA
may i ask what kind of food color to used to mix in the fondant ? hopefully you can answer me thank you , i have tried to make fondant for cake topper but it was a failure 😅😅
For the most part, I used Americolor gel food coloring, here's the black I use! amzn.to/3kukvYJ If you add a lot of coloring to fondant, the fondant will get soft. So you have to add Tylose powder / Gum Tex powder to the fondant to help it stiffen up.
Hi Karolyn! Beautiful cake as always 😋 Can I please ask (1) how long do you keep those decorations in the zip lock so they don't start drying? (2) with the boarder, the strips were still pliable to go around the cake, how did you store them prior, I mean after painting them silver because I'm thinking I'd they were out they'd have started drying and breaking by the time you used them. I'm working on a 2D cartoon for a cake that's due on Friday using your technique and I don't have a dummy to dry it in so I want to know if I can do it now and it will still be fine just sitting in a ziplock bag Thanks for your help, sorry for the long Message
Hi Tapiwa! I stored them in the bag for like 2-3 days. So yours should be fine until Friday! I use lemon extract to paint the silver on because it dries super fast (less than 5 minutes). So I painted them, let the silver dry, then wrapped them around the cake.
You have to control the environment you bring the cake in to. If you take it out of the fridge into a warm room, you'll get condensation. I talk about it in this video: th-cam.com/video/vBKi-O7v98w/w-d-xo.html
I finally had some downtime to watch this video. Idk how you do such tiny detail fondant work. Whew! I eyes get tired for you lol. But seriously how often do you change your exacto knife blade? Maybe that's my problem. Also when you add tylose to fondant and save the scraps to use later, do you find it harder to work with? My fondant scraps get stiff a lot faster and I don't have enough time to work with it. Thoughts?

Yayyy!! What was the method you were doing?
I did one using thinned ganache and another one with piping gel, gel color, and vodka. Zero stars....do not recommend that route! 😕
Your cake is amazing. So many new skills. Thank you x
My pleasure 😊

This Cake Theme Is Definitely A Popular One!! I ❤Your Splatter Method It’s Way Better Then Using Edible Paint, Tastes Better Too!! 😊
And it’s more fun!! 🥳🥳
Love love it! Love your NJ girl. 💜😉
💜🙏🏼💜
Love the Consistency, thank you for this❤
Thanks I just love ur videos
Love Love Love it ❤
Yes I LOVE these videos ❤
Sooo cool!! Thank you for the thorough tutorial once again! ❤
No problem 😊
Love it! It’s beautiful.
This looks soooo tedious but you make it look so easy.
I guess it is a little tedious (those annoying tiny pieces!), but it gets easier with practice!
Thank you Sweetie, I love it!! 💕💕💕💕
Great cake design! Have ever worked with modeling chocolate?
Thank you! I have once or twice. I’m just so used to working with fondant that I stick with that!
Amazing 😍🥰
Love it!!😊
Beautiful, icing that u splash on the white cake how is the consistency? it's runny or just thin enough ?
It’s just thin enough to splatter. If it was runny it would drip down the cake.
How do you decide when to either just print an edible image or do fondant cut outs? 🙌😍
Fondant decorations look better and require more skill to make and, in turn, cost more. So it's the customer's choice!
@@KarolynsKakes thanks!

Your cakes are very beautiful. I am new to your channel. Can you tell me if this is a 6" and 8" cake?
Thank you Calandra! Yes, it's 6" / 8" tiers.
Hey Karolyn I notice you use lemon extract alot more than alcohol does the extract dry better and faster than let's say vodka?
It dries super fast!! Like under 5 minutes 🙌🏼
How did you do those lines on the top cake.
I show how to do it at 9:00 in the video.
Very good job, but how much we should charge for something like this, help please thanks 😊
Doesn’t fondant sweat when it’s place in refrigerator?.

I usually change it weekly! And it does get more difficult to work with as time goes on, so I toss it when it gets too hard.
I literally have no idea why anyone would want this cake. It's very well done but I don't understand.
The birthday girl loves TikTok and wanted a TikTok themed cake.
