      Great review, I'm thinking of this instead of the A90j, as I'm not sure the price difference is worth it, I don't do any gaming, so those features don't bother me at all.

    Just bought the A80j and looking through all the you tube videos, there are lots bashing this tv, but I didn’t understand, cos I was really impressed with it. Initially I was disappointed with the brightness, having come from a Sony led before this, but now realise that I probably had my tv too bright before, now with the A80j everything looks more natural and really pops with the right content. This is a great review, I like the way you encourage experimentation with the picture, and not just saying that various settings are just wrong, it comes down to personal preference, who cares if it was supposed to look a certain way, you need to be happy with what you see yourself.

      @@attilamorvai I think what swayed me towards the Sony was that most of the reviews gave the Sony better picture quality and motion processing and the gaming features will come in the future, so the Sony seemed the better choice as I want it mainly for tv and movies. You can call him biased, but I 100% agree with the review. My 75" 800H went bad under warranty, so was deciding on two TV options to replace at Best Buy. I compared to the C1 77" and the X90J 75". A80J blew the X90J away and the sound and video upscaling blew the C1 away. If just playing HD though, the A80J and C1 appeared the same.

    I just purchased this television and should be delivered in a few days. Being 73 years old this new technology has me a little concerned. I do think this is the best television for the money but with all the settings you can change, the possibilities are numerous. Since I’m home all the time I wanted to have a television that gives me the best picture for movies, shows and sports. Hopefully I can find a good setting for all because I don’t want to have to change settings every time I change a channel or go from live tv to Blu-ray. Wish me luck I’m really anxious to get this thing.

    KG………great channel, excellent content! Refreshing to see honest opinions and thoughts, also like that you’re active on AVS. Given the fact you’ve owned both the QN90a and now the A80J I’m hoping you can inform me on some questions. I currently own a 75” QN90a and I think it’s an excellent set, though I’m bothered by some issues. First off Im kinda a brightness junkie so that’s why I returned a 65CX for the QN90a and the difference is astonishing. This tv is truly a light canon and can hold great colors at that brightness level, which I love. Im a fan of a vibrant picture with great color “pop”. My set sadly suffers from some pretty bad DSE and the LD can be wonky and annoying at times. This is my first local dimming tv, so maybe it’s just an inherent behavior. I can notice the ever so slight LD delay, also odd brightness variations on overlay menus and text, which is extremely obvious while gaming. My set also likes to reverse the LD settings at random when turning on the unit which prompts me to restart and recheck. Annoying, but I believe this can be ironed out with FW. After watching your review of the C1 A80J comparison it gives me hope OLED can deliver a punchier picture without having to spend a lot of $$$. I noticed a definite difference in picture quality in the A80j being superior to the C1. Given the fact the 77” A80J is now 1k cheaper or the exact price of my QN90a, I am now torn on whether I should return the Samsung and get the Sony. What are your thoughts comparing these two sets, and your preference if you had to make a choice. My time is split around 50/50 games and movies. I have until May 20th to return the QN90a. Thanks man!

    • @TechWithKG
      @TechWithKG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is tough, DSE can be annoying is it something that really bothers you on content? If so don't keep the set. The brightness difference from QN90A to an OLED is pretty big but if you are in a dark room you can make it work your eyes will just have to adjust. Personally I love the QN90A for people who a bright LCD but It really does sound the QN90A's dimming behavior is bothering you a lot so if that + DSE is bothering you it might not be the right TV for you after all. Punchier picture than the QN90A is not going to be delivered by OLED but the picture on both OLEDs can be pretty punchy. Another thing is VRR how much does that matter to you not being there at launch with the A80J. Some things you'll definitely have to weigh.

    I'm just starting my research for a new tv and had narrowed it down to an OLED. What I'm seeing in this review however seems to suggest the need to make (constant?) adjustments in the settings for optimal viewing when switching from one source to another. Such as Digital tv, Netflix, Amazon Prime, BD & Xbox One. Am I wrong about that and if I'm not, is this a common requirement with OLEDs and QLEDs? Ideally, the tv would sense the content and automatically adjust the settings for the best pic quality. Maybe I should stick with my plasma?

    Hey I gotta question. I’m getting my first oled TV, and I’m pretty dead set on this one. I watch a ton of movies, and play a lot of games. One of my biggest issues with my current LED 4K, is the black levels. It can look pretty grey with movies, but where it’s most noticeable is with games, it gets really cloudy looking during dark sections in games, when using game mode. So I was wondering if oled TVs with game mode on, show up as nearly pure black still, meaning dark sections would look great?
