I always find it so weird that people say it only has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports so you can't play both xbox x and ps5. Are people that lazy these days that they can't unplug one and put in the other?. Its not as if you can play them both at the same time anyway lol. It literally will take you a couple seconds to do.

I have both consoles and have this model. The reason unplugging it is a hassle is because the Xbox VRR mode looks awful compared to the PS5 (hence it’s a Sony TV) and you have to adjust the picture settings each time you switch consoles. If it was as simple as changing ports I would definitely do that. I decided it was best to keep my Xbox on HDMI 2 with 4k 60 so my Apple TV can have Dolby vision. First world problems lol

    • @tomwells8093
      @tomwells8093 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Jacob_1996 The other issue with the ports is that if you have a receiver or soundbar, unless you have the newest systems you still can't passthrough 4K@120 fps anyway through them. So you have to have the latest components to actually make it work, otherwise you're stuck with TV audio no matter if you have a Sony with 2 ports or LG Samsung with 4. The amount of people with the latest models that can play everything through 120fps is extremely small. Any excuse to say LG is the best gaming TV even though the picture isn't as good in game mode

@Tom Wells As much as I love sony tvs, even I have to admit admit that it's a bit ridiculous for their price they only have 2 hdmi 2.1 ports when other brands supply 4 hdmi 2.1 ports for much cheaper. There is honestly no reason. Sony is not immune to criticism when it's warranted and this is a good time honestly. On a side note... like you said if someone has an older reciever and needs to use arc, it would re enforce why having 4 hdmi 2.1 port is more substantial then you think. What if you have an Xbox series x, ps5 and pc that supports hdmi 2.1? Like I said why sony still releases there high end tv with only 2 hdmi 2.1 ports is still baffling to me.

C'mon man...At this price point, you shouldn't be required to plug snd unplug everytime you want to use another device. What you're saying is like, buying a 60k car, without power windows, cause it literally only takes 5 seconds to roll windows down, right?

I have a Sony X950H (FALD LCD) that gets around 1000 nits full screen but to be honest whenever I am watching in a dark room I have to turn the brightness down from MAX to around 25-30. I'm not sure why the 2022 models are all chasing the high nits (some going up to 1500!?) when I think 1000 is already too bright for most viewing conditions. This A80J for about £899 right now feels like an absolute bargain.

Have an A80K 77" that has been having issues with the sound, Linked to the Sony HTA 5000. Out of NOWHERE my remote volume control does not work and have to use the sony soundbar remote. when using volume it is supposed to show up on TV, seeing Auto System, on the left bottom side of the screen. When not linked up with sound ar one has to use the tv remote to turn off the TV and the Sony soundbar remote to turn off the soundbar. This is my 3rd month in having these issues, so far once a month Best Buy Geek Squad out to link it back up. This month March 10th, 2023 Geek came out and linked up the remote using Blue tooth, so still, the TV remote does not work with volume when I shut off the TV only the TV and sony go off, and not the Comcast box. Is anyone else having soundbar issues with this Sony A80K and HT-A5000 soundbar?

I have had an a80j for over 18 months, TV is probably on for around 18hrs most days, as I work from home. A third of the content is news, a third is mixed content and a third is TH-cam content. No burn in for us, which is pretty amazing really.
The only real disappointment is Sky Q and HDR. I just cannot get a great consistent picture for watching 4K HDR Formula 1, it is either washed out grey, or crazy overblown Samsung-esque colouring.
Inbuilt TH-cam, Amazon, Apple and NetFlix app content is incredible though.

Did you calibrate the different picture presets, as its recommended on some decent TH-cam Channels?
The A90J is almost the same as the A80J, except that it got a higher brightness peak level, because it got a heat spreader + its 6 inch taller.
You wont really notice a difference at all.
If you really wonna see a change, you should go for a QD-OLED like the new Sony A95k, but that will cost a lot of money and in my opinion not worth.
Try to calibrate ur TV first.

@@derek4177 not to mention that a 77"-85" qd-oled will cost a kidney next year.
I was watching netflix last night and it looks good. I barely have 48 hours uptime on my 77" a80j. Im still staking out for a 83" a90j for black friday.

How does this TV perform in a bright (ish) room?

My living room is north facing so fairly dark, that said a brighter room should be ok, but you might have an issue if you have windows directly opposite the TV

Hey I'm thinking of getting an A80J but I am not too sure about ASBL dimming in HDR gaming. You say it doesn't happen too often and you play games with lots of HUD elements like Apex. Is it more than slightly annoying? How much does it dim?

Dimming isn’t huge but is noticeable. Won’t lie I do find it annoying but it really doesn’t happen too often. I find it worst on GT7 but I don’t play that much anymore

Funny thing for me is I've never noticed the ASBL while gaming.... probably because I play on min to very low brightness lol. I mostly play nba2k so no need for a bright punchy picture.

Damn. After just getting my a80k, the a80j really is too dark for me. I always hated how it doesn't look like your really looking thru a window, and sunlight it hitting it. The a80k wakes me up instead of dulls my senses

My C2 makes my A80j look very dim as well.

@@BookClubDisasterjokes on you, its literally the same panel and actually the a80j still has the better processor, so it can show more clarity and details, especially in darker scenes
