Man...I close my eyes, all of a sudden it's 1978 & I'm 9 yrs old riding around with my dad in Ashford Alabama in his 1972 Chevy C/10 LWB pickup...no a/c...no p/s...both windows rolled down & listening to this GREAT COUNTRY SONG on 95.5 WTVY or on his 8-track player. What a GREAT GREAT song with EVEN BETTER MEMORIES!!! I sure do miss my dad. Much love from Mobile Alabama.
Looking back five decade's or so ago as a child Charley Pride was one of the first artist that I adored..... RIP Sir you warmed the heart's of many and still do......
A true gentleman and ground breaker...talk about shattering the glass ceiling...fortunately his music will last for all true country music fans Rest in Peace and thank you for sharing your talents with us!
"Drive in picture show." I remember hearing this for the first time and instantly loving it. All of his songs were hits to me and growingi would always sing along. RIP Mr. Pride. 💫✨💫
So sad to hear of his passing. I Thank God for the Blessing of songs he sanged to us and around the world. My Favorite "Burgers & Fries ". Thank you Charley Pride ❤🍔🍟🍒🥧
I remember listening to this on my dad's record player as a kid. Always loved it. My dad died many years ago, but when I hear this song it takes me back to our living room as a kid.
Arguably the grand ole’s most celebrated country music artist, and while this track is not considered one of his best it is always a fan favorite. Country music, at its core, is story telling, and there will probably not be another of this magnitude in my lifetime. Rural America lost a great deal with his passing, but we can all be thankful he was generous enough to share his gifts while he was with us.
As many of us remember, this song was playing on the radio in the background at Belle’s Diner in the movie Breakdown with Kurt Russell, where he went to to look for his wife who ended up missing but she was kidnapped and was never taken there and that song was in the background in the radio at that diner.
This song takes you back in time. Now, it sounds like my parents time more than mine but he takes you there with his words and melody. To boot, nobody had a better country voice!
It's amazing how true his words and songs are...the honest and simple things back then I long for. One of my favorite songs and a true country music artist.
A great man & a song that defined my generation. Note,, Korea & Vietnam wars where raging. I got lucky and was not drafted as I came of age in 1974. Not all unicorn's and rainbows for many. R.I.P. Charley Pride. Let's go Brandon...
So, when I was a little one...my grandparents picked me up to go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and see The Oak Ridge Boys that my grandfather got tickets for from his work. When we got there, they realized it was tickets for Charley Pride a couple days later. I was a brat and threw a fit and pouted and said I didn’t want to see Charley Pride. My Dad made me go and told me not to pout and be thankful. (Yes, the old days...told to shut up and do what you’re told.) I went and became a true Charley Pride fan that night and a fan for life. I love the Oak Ridge Boys as well, but I’m so glad my grandfather got those tickets and my Dad was a great Dad.
Ever heard of a song that gets in your head and you just keep singing it all day long, go to bed and get up singing it again? This is it....RIP Mr. Pride, and thank you for the great songs you left us!!
Charlie I'm very grateful for all the music that you put out I can relate to every one of them I appreciate all the hard work you I've done for all the people listening to your music thank you your friend Kenneth
This was sung before I came into this world but I feel I want to go back when I was a kid when all I could think about was being outside until the sun went down
TO THIS “CLASSIC COUNTRY HIT” BLOGGER [‘BCO JR.’], THIS 1970s HIT COUNTRY: “BURGERS, FRIES [‘AND CHERRY PIES’]” HAS A NIGHT STREET MEANING FOR ‘FAREWELL AND SWEET DREAMS,’ AND Y’ALL, “HIT COUNTRY FANS, ‘WHAT A FABULOUS’ SONG!!” 🥤🍔🍟🥧
Having to mime their own songs on camera to a live audience must have soul crushing for artists that needed no autotune, botox, hairdressers, make up,pet psychologists and so on.

Charley Pride (1938-2020)
Love this song the best..
This song reminds me of my childhood, the station wagon at the drive through. Goodbye Charley Pride. ;-(
Heard this playing on the Jukebox in the 1997 movie Breakdown with Kurt Russell. Had to look it up it!
❤.. Smooth, classic! He was the best!
RIP Charley... Huge loss! He was amazing, so many great hit songs - second only to Elvis in record sales.
He was second best just for RCA records, not for all record sales from every studio.
Really?
Please please please bring this music back!
I remember listening to this on my dad's record player as a kid. Always loved it. My dad died many years ago, but when I hear this song it takes me back to our living room as a kid.

It's amazing how true his words and songs are...the honest and simple things back then I long for. One of my favorite songs and a true country music artist.
Reminds me of a much simpler time. Country music is the most wholesome. Even though a lot is about honky-tonking it is honest.
I grew up on the Best Music the World has ever produced. I miss those days.
May God welcome you home. Thank you for all the wonderful music!
Beautiful Hungry RIP Charlie Pride 🤩🤩🤩🤩

Good, clean simple music with meaning.
Golden voice. I wish I could have seen him live. Not many country legends left and the new shit is just that...
thank you BREAKDOWN 1997 for this amazing song😍
These beautiful golden tunes make me believe in reincarnation. Born in the 90s I feel connected to a past I never lived.
Beautiful memories
