      raceaddict321 When the weather breaks, i will like to see how my 17 gsxr1000 run against a properly setup Gen 5. It should be very interesting.

    • @raceaddict3212
      @raceaddict3212 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      apexhunter2k yes it should. But from what i assume from riding both the is that the gixxer is a better e.t bike but gen 5 is still stronger up top and will have higher trap speeds. Atleast for 9/10ths. That gixxers front half is dam good especially with the quickshifter speed of the R model, ive never felt a shifter faster than that. Almost like u set an aftermarket one to 20ms. So monster midrange, light weight, fast shifts a good tune, flat tq curve and surprisingly good aeros for a bike that narrow and u have a beast on your hands.. but like an h2 it may need a small stretch to tame 1st and 2nd gear unless you do some throttle blade manipulation in those gears thru the ecu to have them closed at certain rpms and ramp in power a certain way to help but now thats cutting back your e.t possibilities. And if u follow my channel youll know i give the most unbiased view of bike performance because i own various makes and models so im not brand loyal and give super optimistic viewpoints of the brand i cling to..i tell it like it is

    I like the free flow of that air filter yes👌! But how accurate are the numbers? The bikes not in motion so there’s no pressure in the air box? Ram air plays a big part in hp. From my point of view this thing will probably make more hp going down the track then on that Dyno.

    @Brock - Question about oil viscosity. With Suzuki recommending 10W-40 on this bike, is it your experience that engine wear is increased with prolonged use of ultra low viscous lubricants? I was laughing right from the start, "It's like kissing your sister, just too close" - hahaha. The drag & roll-on street guys are going to love that Alien Head exhaust. The F1 filter gain was about 1-2 hp, assuming that translates to the Predator Head exhaust, on pump gas, maybe we're looking at 194-195 hp on a good day. Some ram air effect, a little less viscous oil, and I think road/track racers maybe looking at 196-199. I remember at the beginning asking if 200hp was possible (on pump gas), and dang if it ain't knocking on that door. It just keeps getting better.

    • @jryer1
      @jryer1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Brock - Very cool. If I'm understanding correctly, less viscous oil increases acceleration, not necessarily showing up on a dyno as HP, but instead in the timeline, just another means of getting from A to B sooner?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It is very hard to believe, that a seethrough filter can protect the engine from dust as well as the oem paper or a foam element.
    Free flowing and high performance application it is def.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How well does it filter? blog.brocksperformance.com/sprint-filter-p08-long-term-test-kawasaki-zx-10r-2016/

    • @Snowhite808
      @Snowhite808 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes one wonder - why do they keep persisting making these big panel filters without the soft insulating edge. A lot of yamaha and ktm bikes have dust in airbox through the edge etc. Many times we have had to install a soft insulating seal on the side (or both).
      In comparison to foam filter - ie pipercross or similar - the performance gain/cost/safety is on par - or do You consider this to be more high end performance product?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do not like any form of oiled media. We find that over-oiling disrupts consistent AFR. They clog up and loose power quickly and they are a PITA to clean, wait etc. Under conditions of misuse, the oil will dry up completely and leave only a dry extremely porous media to filter the air. If our bikes do not have a Sprint Filter...they have an OEM paper element.

    @Brock sir, this series has made me change my decision from buying akra slip-on with butterfly valve for my 2016 Z800 to something which does not have a butterfly valve. Only if I could get a slip-on for my bike from Brock's..
    Sir could you please run a Dyno with your friends Gsxr who has a Yoshi slip-on to show the Afr changes with just a slip-on addition.

    Brock, this was a most informative video on the tuning process!! Thank you. So two quick questions, is 13.0 at WOT/100TPS the best AFR to aim for when tuning? Or does this depend on region (4500 feet ASL). And, do you often see the best power gains using 60/40 to the upper injectors? I noticed in Part 2 you had this bike set for 80/20 that led into a 60/40 at highest RPM.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the bike as well as the elevation. Denser air (closer to sea level) can burn more fuel, etc... On some bikes with upper and lower injectors, 60/40 can work best - especially in LSR. **BUT** since most bikes do not actively monitor and tune the AFR (excluding some BMW's and Ducati's) it's not uncommon for them to over or under compensate at high speeds to account for ram air. This article goes into more detail on the subject: bit.ly/2EJ1zAV

    @timjamesvella 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey Brock. Your closing comment about the oil got me thinking about coolant. am about to change mine and was researching engine Ice and Evans waterless coolant. the manufactures both state these coolants result in cooler running temperature and more horsepower. would be great to see if you could add that to your testing.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tim Vella - Be very careful when using engine ice, water wetter etc. as they can freeze and cause huge problems that are not immediately noticeable. Evans will tell you that the only way their product can make power is if the bike has detonation created by excessive heat (not common in today's sportbikes), but it does work very well. I have used all mentioned and personally prefer ethylene-glycol based coolants, unless racing rules dictate otherwise - when they do, we use this: www.brocksperformance.com/Motul-Mo-Cool-Radiator-Additive-169oz+I553418+C81.aspx

      @Never4filled - We worked directly with BMW Motorrad, USA and had one of the first 2010 S1000RR's in the country. We certainly don't lack tuning time or expertise with the bike. Everything you see in this series, plus more was done on the RR also - we even backed up our dyno results with drag strip and land speed race results.Check them out here: www.brocksperformance.com/brocknm/templates/bpp1.aspx?articleid=323&zoneid=25 and make sure you view the article where a dealership in Greensboro, SC installed our performance kit, then jumped on a 700 mile ride to West Palm Beach, FL for some drag racing.

  • @raceaddict3212
    @raceaddict3212 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brock, a few questions on the quickshifter option for the non R model.. since you are enabling the ecu for the quickshifter function does it still allow part to wide open throttle downshifts in similiar fashion as the R model and the 2nd gen s1000rr or do you have to have closed throttle for the autoblip to work. Also does your dyno have a way to read individual kill times per gear at wide open throttle based on the brief pause in acceleration and measure it in milliseconds or do you have a special tool that can measure the ignition kill between shifts from the coil packs or another method..unless ofcourse reading out the ecu thru the flash program gives you the kill times for wide open throttle.. i know on factory quickshifter equipped bikes the kill times are varied based on load and throttle opening. Im just trying to see just how similiar the ft-ecu shifter kit works on the base model gixxer in comparison to the R model. Because the R model is fantastic.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @raceaddict - We don't measure and cant change the kill times with the FTECU shifter. It works very nice, but I don't think you will find a quicker/smoother shifter than the GSX-R model quick shifter. I haven't tried partial throttle blipping, I'll check it next time I ride the bike.

    Hey Brock i have a 2017 ninja 1000 (same as the z1000) with akrapovic headers and slip ons, K n N filter and has been dyno tuned at proven power in tampa FL. Got the same results you got when u tuned the Z1000. I seen in one of the vids you put MR12 fuel in for fun. Did you need to create a map for that or is that something i can do for fun if i wanted to waste some money. I have this friend with a 2004 R1 who has been whooping me in every race for over a year. Since i got my bike tuned the races have been pretty close. I figured i want to do something just for an edge to beat him 1x. What do you think?

    @Brock Davidson. Hey Brock, just placed a order for a full titanium predator system and P08 F185 filter for 17 GSXR1000R. Should i be worried about any kind of damage to my bike running those mods without a PCV or ECU flash? Waiting a month for the PCV and flash.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Nick Skiver - nothing to really 'worry' about. But, the bike will know you have installed the pipe and will throw emissions codes. If we know you ran with codes before we flash your ECU, we can remove them. If not, you will need to get them cleared by your dealer. Either way, the bike will run fine and not hurt anything until you get the flash and PCV. And THANKS for your purchase!

    • @BrockDavidson

      Make sure you fill the tank with pump gas enough to completely submerge the fuel pump to prevent the seals from drying out. Let the bike idle for a few minutes, and you are good to go.

    (- couple time customer and couple time comment troll. I just had a thought about the ecm and flash. The speed sensor is off the front wheel so great I don't need a speedo healer but what does mph change. I was thinking ram air compensation? Or timing changes? Also if it hovering the front wheel and tire tire is touch and go on the 60 or 330 will it think wheelie mode?
    I would wander whY would happen if you set up the sensor on the rear wheel if possible and see if it changes ram air compensation or any of your other dyno charts change?
    I like the sprint filter maybe helps kick in the ram air affect after the filter sooner possibly giving a bit more mph in standing mile.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jason check out this MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor definition: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAP_sensor - While we have not raced the 2017 GSX-R1000, on other bikes (S1000RR, Ninja H2, etc.) we turn off all nanny controls (wheelie/traction), as we find them too intrusive to produce the quickest results at the drag strip. We have measured increased in MPH with the addition of the Sprint P16 filter. The P08 works closer to stock, but is reusable and very easy to clean with compressed air.

    • @jasonpowell4847
      @jasonpowell4847 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand how the map works 20 year diesel tech also it does aid let the computer compensation so it doesn't go lean. My main thought because I want clear was how 5th and 6th on the Mexican racing circuit street coarse would affect the actual air fuel. I know the engineers did a wonderful as did you but they went in the process with building tables with there exhaust and air flow so just wandering if there more mph or power for say the guys in Florida who prefer 9/10th over quarter Mile.
      What you have done is great I'm just curious to see how off the dyno vs 170 plus mph figure makes a difference. If any.
      I'm hoping to see another bid series with the gsxr like the original ZX 14 write you did awhile back. Top end and quarter-mile.

    I went from the cheapest motorcycle 10w-40 full synthetic oil I could find, to ecstar r9000 10w-40 full synthetic oil which is in relative terms expensive. I didn't notice any performance difference on the ol' butt dyno. There is probably other benefits, but I didn't notice anything performance wise.

    • @spoonman73
      @spoonman73 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to run a thinner synthetic to see a difference. I run Mobil 1 5w-30 car oil with zero clutch slippage.

    • @spoonman73
      @spoonman73 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, maybe. It's a controversial subject for sure. Though I did run Castrol GTX in my old FZR600 back in the nineties without knowing any better lol. I personally noticed a difference when I switched my current bike over to Mobil 1 4t 10-40 synthetic and a bigger difference with 5-30 Mobil 1. My current thinking is that clutches are replaceable and my motor and tranny seem to like this oil so we will see what happens. For your situation there are good motorcycle oils in 5-30 you could try like Motul. I'm just a cheap bastard lol and change mine way too often to pay that much. Thinner oils are definitely better even though I used to be a thicker oil guy. Rotella 15-40 was the worst oil I ever used whereas the T6 5-40 was OK. Check out the excellent 540 RAT blog for more info on oil. Mobil 1 scored very high on his oil film psi test, but diesel oils not so much. Peace

    Hi Brock need your help please. Bought a power commander v from you for my 2016 zx10r. Installed it straight forward installation. Bike fired up straight away but then the dash started flashing nonstop. Luckily I've got woolich software so I can read the fault code. So it said primary injector #2 open circuit or short. Cleared the fault code same problem. Disconnected the plug both ends reinstalled same problem. Then I only plugged the 2de injector plug from the bike's wire back in leaving the power commander number 2 unplugged in doing this the fault did not come up. Plugged the power commander wire back in straight away dash flashes and same fault code. Will this be my luck with a faulty power commander. Or is there something else I need to check. Thanks

      @BrockDavidson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Velocity stacks don't make power... They move power. If you want more up top (high RPM) , shorter is better, but mid and low will suffer. Longer stacks move power up in the low and mid... But peak will suffer. The key is to pick where you want to be.

    • @BrockDavidson

      @Raudel - the use of E85 is a trend in the car world and on the Internet. We feel its use in the normally aspirated motorcycle world is a waste of time/effort/money. MR12 will give far better results in the real-world .. that why we use it.
