"Wildfire's only album is a great heavy psych record from the start to the finish. The album is damn heavy for it's time and that roaring guitar is just a treat to listen to if you're into this kind of music. The band sounds very good and even if the songwriting could be better I can say that they succeeded with this record really well.
The album was originally just a demo record so it wasn't officially released until 1996. The original demo pressing is extremely rare and valuable nowadays which is not surprising. It's easy to recommend this strong album for anyone who enjoys hard rock, psychedelia or early heavy metal. Smokin' contains some impressive heavy psych jamming and it gets four stars from me. Almost 4,5 stars actually"

Nice. I'd searched all over a couple of years ago on youtube for them but couldn't find anything. And here it is. I saw them at Mission County Park in Southside San Antonio back I in 1970. lol - my first exposure to freaks. Weed thick in the air and all peace and love. Blew my mind seeing all that. Grew my hair out after than and still half way down my back all these years later.

Thanks for posting! My uncle Donny is the drummer. I was looking for this to show my boyfriend for inspiration to play on his own drums. 😁
My uncle’s older brother (my dad) was also a drummer in another California popular band from the 70’s. They were called The Second Time. Really proud to have two amazing drummers in my family. ❤️

Howdy from Dallas Texas. I saw wildfire December 18th 1970 at the State Fair Music Hall in Dallas opening for a group called Johnny Winter and. The main thing I remember about wildfire is they did that song by The Kinks all the day and all of the night there is a poster on the internet of that concert that sells for $500. I own the poster of course I didn't pay that much for it it mentions special guests wildfire! One of my first heavy concerts that I saw as a child a 14

    01 - Stars in the Sky 00:01
See the stars in the sky
    What does that mean
    What does that mean
And the birds are flying high
    What does that mean
    What does that mean
Oh, one thing I learned long ago
    I learned it long ago
    Beauty is in everything
    Beauty is in everything
    Oh, beauty is in everything
    Beauty is in everything, yeah
    Oh, ah, oh, oh
And there’s a song to be sung
    Lord I’m gonna sing it
There’s lots of things gotta be done
    But who’s gonna do them
Oh, but people, people won’t you be happy
People, won’t you try to be nice
    Beauty is in everything
    Beauty is in everything
    Ah, beauty is in everything
    Beauty is in everything, yeah
    Do you feel?
    02 - Down to Earth 05:47
Seems like such a long time
Since I first saw your mind
    But now just look
    What’s opened up for me
I see your face in the countryside
No more will I run and hide
    Cause out there
    No one stares at me
At me, nobody’s looking at me
In the country, there’s no one staring at me
And I remember back at home
When I was sitting all alone
    Without you there
    To aid and comfort me
My head was spinning all around
But now I’d like to come back down
    Down to earth
    Where everything is free
Free, yes where everything is free
In the country, it was meant to be
Clean, oh the air should be clean
Know what I mean, oh the air should be clean
I’m saying that the time must be found
Got to get back to the ground
Back to earth where everything is free
We’ve got to go back down
And give our bodies to the ground
Down to earth where life is very free
I’m saying the time must be found
Got to get back to the ground
Back to earth where everything is free
We’ve got to go back down
And give our bodies to the ground
Down to earth where life is very free
    Free
    03 - Time Will Tell 10:21
And if you ever think that you want me
    Oh baby, I’m sure
And if you ever tell me you love me
I know time will tell me the truth
    I knew all along
You just wanted to have some fun, yeah
But time will tell the truth
    Time will tell the truth
    Time will tell the truth
So I’ll give you just a one last chance now
Oh baby, you’d better be careful
It’s gonna be, yes it’s gonna be
    Your very last chance now
Oh baby, oh baby, don’t you blow it
I’ll give you one more try
Gonna be gentleness and kind, yeah
Cause time will tell the truth
    Time will tell the truth
    Time will tell the truth
    04 - Don't Look for Me 13:32
When the skies come tumbling down
Don’t look for me cause I won’t be there
And when the seas flood all their shores
Don’t look for me, baby, I won’t be around
All I wanted to do, yeah, I just wanted to find you
Help, help me, oh I’m falling out of place
They set it up for me, set up for me so
    I wouldn’t lose my grace
All I wanted to do, I just wanted to find you
Oh I love you baby, God I need you right now
Lord I feel you right now
Said I’m coming a little closer
Come a little closer to me
Come a little closer with me
    Oh I love you baby
    Lord I feel it inside
All I wanted to do, yes
I just want to make love to you
    Ha ha
Lord, I’m gonna love you all the time now
Let me, let me, let me, let me
    Gimme the chance
    Gimme the chance
    Oh you’re gonna be mine
Love ya early in the morning
I’ll love you again late at night
And then I’ll love you in between times
    Know you’re gonna be mine
    All I wanted to do
Yeah, I just want to make love to you
    05 - Free 20:00
    Free, we’re gonna be free
Free, yeah, just wait and see
    Free, we’re gonna be free
Free, free, yeah, wait and see
I know, my people, I know we’re gonna be free
    Free, just wait and see
    Yeah, so free
I know, my people, I know, wait and see
    Free, free, yeah
    06 - What Have I Got Now 22:59
Be careful pretty lady, oh you're messing with my mind
Yes, you better watch out woman, or I’ll leave you far behind
I’ve given you all I know how
    What have I got now
    What have I got now
    What have I got now
    What have I got now
    What have I got now
There’s gonna be a day, yes
When you wish you hadn’t stepped on me
    Well I know there’ll be a day, a day, a day
When your mind is gonna set you free, free, free
And you’ll come back and find
I found me a new brand new mind
I found a brand new mind
    Yes,ound a brand new mind
    Watch out, here we come
    What have I got now
Yes, what have I got now, I’m asking you
What have I got now, oh, I wanna know
What have I got now, oh won’t you tell me
What have I got now, please baby tell me
What have I got now, I wanna know, I wanna know
What have I got now, I wanna know, ah
What have I got now, yes
    What have I got now
    What have I got now
    07 - Let It Happen 26:21
You told me I’m so lonesome I could scream
So long since I felt softness I can’t even see
You can let it happen if you only try, try
Love is music, let’s go fly
Whatever it is that you want
I can tell you it’s near
    It’s love that you need
    Your time is near
Oh come my friend and we will walk along the channels of your mind
Yes come up and see, this will be a good time
Cause you can let it happen
    If you only try
Love is magic, let’s go fly
    08 - Quicksand 29:28
People, listen to what I say
If you really care today, today
I don’t believe all this violence, yes,
    I don’t believe it’s a must, a must
    Mr. Citizen, in the street
Why do I look up at your feet
    Aren’t I, aren’t I as good as you
There’s a man coming my way
Oh Lord, what was that, what did I say wrong
All I said was I just want peace yeah
You got to love your brother
Why can’t you love your brother
Oh Lord I hate to say it
    Love your brother
Oh, oh Lord I hate to say it
    Love your brother
    I hate to say it
    Love your brother
    We’re sinking in quicksand
    We’re sinking in quicksand
    We’re sinking in quicksand
    Yeah, yeah, yeah
    People listen
    Love your brother
    Oh Lord why can’t you
    Love your brother
Oh Lord I hate to say
    Love your brother
Oh Lord I hate to say it
    Love your brother
    I hate to say it
    Sinking in quicksand
    Sinking in quicksand
    Sinking in quicksand

After the 60s British Invasion, the early 70s evolved into more bare boned power trio rock like GFR, Rush, ZZ Top, James Gang, The Jimi Hendrix Experience. It's too bad that these guys in Wildfire didn't get the national exposure that the other power trios of the day got.

Definitely can see the freedom of this bands style The 70s were the fucking best wish everything was free you could see the commercialism start real big late 70s And the corporate takeover of everybody involved in music money money money it’s so sad money ruins every thing all the fucking time Let alone the struggles this band had to go through if you didn’t have money you didn’t have equipment .This band is a great American band Pledge of Allegiance to the music alliances of Free Rocking Bands throughout all lands under all gods and believes to be united with freedoms we stand

They were from Laguna Beach, California, but relocated in Austin, Texas. This was recorded in the same studio were Mariani also recorded their Perpetuum Mobile in 1970.
Wildfire emerged from the LA heavy psych scene, the same that gave us bands like The Hook, Steppenwolf, Fields, Alice Cooper, Supachief, Lee Michaels, Stack, Big Brother Feat. Ernie Joseph, Mad Dog, Zekes etc.

My great aunt lived 20 minutes south of Brownwood , which is right in the middle of Texas, which I thought was in the middle of nowhere whenever I would visit her for the summer. I had no idea that anything this cool would come out of a place like that. And then I found out that Meat Loaf was born in Coleman, TX, which is the next big town west of Brownwood.
