I’ve been rediscovering the J. Herbin standard line. They were the first inks I used when I got into fountain pens in 2008. This year I went all in and now have all 35 shades, and apart from a couple of super-pale ones that should really just be for art (Bouton d’Or and Bleu Azur) I love them all!
I too love Diamine Prussian Blue. In drier pens it reads to me like a cool gray almost. I’m a sucker for anything gray tinted and dusty. I’ve also been drawn to the pinky browns, including the Rouille d’Ancre.
I agree on the Platinum 3776 F and CV Able. I love the combo, it writes like a dream every time I pick it up - even if sitting for a week. Have not yet found Able in large bottles *but* have been ordering multiple samples when I start running out.

I love watching your swatching videos and seeing all the ink colors... I am trying to explore inks more now and trying to use the pens I have and not over buy any more pens...As I say that last statement I will say this, LOL, I just received J Heban Terre De Feu ink last week and Love it! I am using it in my new Kaweco Supra Brass EF pen and I just love the pairing... Such a nice Red-Brown color and I love seeing it on my papers even for jotting down notes.... That color name translates to "Land of Fire" is what google told me when I looked it up... I did finally order Rusty Anchor when I preordered my Kaweco Sport Piston filler and can’t wait to get that pen and ink too! I love Gris Nuauge too ( I am typing this when you are swatching the inks, I’m like... Oh yes, I love that color too!! LOL)... Gotta get the Prussian Blue, that’s just too pretty. I just love all the inks... Between bottles and samples I am working with over 70 inks and have at least 30 in working pens presently... I love the lighter browns, pinky light browns, green browns, and pinky grays colors at the moment... You know, you may be able to just buy ink samples of Color Verse Able at Vanness, I see sometimes Vanness sells those 5ml bottle as a sample... I Love the inks you chose for your April pens, (April showers) such pretty colors and I’m gonna have to put Prussian Blue on my list and give it a try next... Your videos have been a great way for me to have some self care time from a situation I am working through right now... I admit I was influenced! I recently got Terre de feu and Larmes de cassis. I loved them! I also got one of their essentialle inks called Ambre de Baltique - and it is gorgeous. A truly amber.
I have a bottle of Terre De Feu and I wasn't happy with and was considering getting rid of it. But then in your last video with the fine nib pairing I decided to try it with a Pilot Fine and I've loved it this month. Thanks for the inspiration!🖋
Oh my... that lavender grey herbin and the diamine prussian blue are so pretty! Lovely vid! But why am I so bothered by the tiny white spots left in the clouds. 🙈
I love your ink choices for April. Have you tried J Herbin Vert Empire? It looks very close to that Colorverse Able, as far as I can judge on the screen. It’s a muted green grey, which is very pretty.
Now having said that I adore the 3776 F nib, I'm wondering if you have any experience with the SF nib? I've been trying to find an ink that pairs well with it, but mine is just scratchy and hard starts - even inked with Able. The first part of the stroke gets almost no ink at all, and it doesn't feel soft like i remember when I first tested the SF nib (thought that was many years ago). Have been debating parting with it as I just don't see myself loving it as much as the regular F or even the Sailor F.
I'm after the exact colour as the first one (anchor) since I want that lovely cottagecore-y cosy brown, but the ink's name keeps ocming up with dusty pink results and look nothing like yours! did you get a special bottle or????
I think it just has a lot to do with your pen! I've inked it in other pens before and they've leaned more pink than brown. This time, it's truly more brown, but same ink!
