Haha. It never changes. Hurry on back to the PL, Leeds. Miss that rivalry. In the Haaland sending off incident, Duberry could have gone too with todays refs but look at JFH's 'challenge' on him. Maybe Poll was to scared to sent him off as well.
Remember the pictures in the sports section the next day- Frank LeBoef getting a 'doing over'...heard this on Radio Leeds that Saturday at work, exciting stuff. Leeds punching (kicking) well above their weight that day; George Graham was just what they needed at that time.
They really made Billy proud and played the game as Leeds of the golden era were they just kicked teams of park, except there being booked and sent off in the modern game
They didn't actually. Leeds certainly knew how to play tough football, as did Liverpool (Smith, Yates) Chelsea (Harris, Webb) Arsenal (Storey) etc, but they also played some wonderful football (eg the skills of Gray, Giles, Lorimer, Jones and Clarke). I suggest you watch some old clips from the late 1960s and early 70s and reassess things.
I remember the Chelsea fans going absolutely mental - they couldn't believe they didn't get a result. The walk out of Stamford Bridge was...interesting. Funny seeing Flo, Duberry, Wise...all wore the Leeds badge within a few years.
Apart from mispronouncing the names of several players, Motson does talk a lot of shite! "This is Chelsea versus Leeds revisited". Maybe because it is actually Chelsea v Leeds?
In this game, the highlights didn't show all the fouls. I went to the game and this only shows key moments. The fouls were thick and fast it was all out war in the first half, less so in the 2nd. By today's standards more players would have been booked and sent off. It was a frustrating game as a Chelsea fan, but George Graham was fantastic at making his teams competitive and hard to beat. Back then players would get up after hard tackles and get on with it. Not like now.
Battle of the Bridge, it was a battle to catch those Chelsea boys as me and my footsoldiers oiled off the battle bus, a windmilling and a fisting only see them leg it up the broadway. FKTS ALAW MOT WACCEO
I was taught that the Battle of Stamford Bridge took place in September 1066 in Yorkshire. Maybe this was a re-enactment by The Sealed Knot in 1997?
God I miss games like that.Players chopped down with very little rolling around and staying down.Wonderful stuff
Nigel Martyn great keeper
Best Leeds goalkeeper ever
World class save in this match

Post match interview with the ref...Nice!
Word has it a linesman was on a yellow and perilously close to a red here and Nigel Martin was cautioned for making a save.
How times change , in both 1970 FA Cup Final games , there were more dangerous tackles , but not one Red Card
A fitting tribute to Billy Bremner....down to 9 men. Keeping up the standards of Leeds I see! Chelsea vs Leeds was always a tasty fixture.
who a bigger club in your opinion c or leeds

Keith Floyd Banktrouble was indeed a fine striker.

Think he was talking about a certain game in the 70s when there were numerous red cards and yellows
@@James-b7p2k Presumably the 1970 FA Cup Final and the replay.
How we could do with a George Graham now to sort our defensive frailties
A bit tasty .Of course Chelsea were angelic . Ooh those upstart provincials .They wouldn't lie down and die .
Leeds leeds leeds ,get into em fuck em up
When referees were allowed to talk!!!

Le Saux was a girl. Always was.
I know we're dirty Leeds scum, but seriously, Chelsea aren't and weren't as bad?!
