I got exams within 2 months & being honest here I got frustrated of not study & no strategy I wasted 17 days doing noth literally nothing (procrastination at the highest level) & after 2 days I m improving I can say but got less days for exam but those who reading this …. Mf just start any topic just do 3 per day
Great insight especially about broadening you knowledge across multiple areas. I would look at our med schools past papers and tally what specialities came up again and again - usual suspects - cardio, gastro, womens health, resp etc and focus more of my time on these topics in the run-up to exams. Pareto's principle of 80/20
Dr Watchman :) I love the way you used the The Spider Model (aka. Radar) to explain the concept of learning breadth not depth in medical school. Kinda reminded me of FIFA when they use the radar to demonstrate the abilities of each football player, it shows how lob sided their skill-set can be, and this is exactly what you are explaining here. A similar concept exists in cricket where you are labelled as an 'all-rounder' if you have abilities in all three domains, batting, balling and fielding. What you do for the medical community is amazing
12:35 mark - I agree, note-making is v. time-consuming. Thanks a tonne for your shot at making the "ultimate set of notes." ZeroToFinals and Geeky Medics have to be my two favourite online sources.
You are an amazing person!!! Would be possible at some stage to go through how to pass OSCEs, for example how to tackle the in-vivo questions (summary statement, differentials and etc)???
Tom does the thinking so we don't have to! Gotta say I know it goes against the entire ethos of spaced repetition and everything, but many a student I am sure is googling "how to cram medicine" so if you have any insights about what to do in a short time frame that would be really appreciated!
Really useful insights! Can you please talk about the type of books that medical students should be using: class notes, review books, or textbooks? And the issue of not having enough time to cover textbooks vs. no enough explanations in review books/class notes.
Thanks! This is a good question and one of the challenges with how vast medicine is. I tried to solve this with Zero to Finals notes as a combination of the two.
This is such a super helpful video. Would you consider making videos or notes on history taking and all the different presenting complaints- I definitely find this hard and it’s not really taught for us :(
Im currently using ur Website articles , they r just perfect , I was wondering if the medecine book articles are as simple or more detailed , means detailed more than supposed for a final exam .
@@SparkesIsRunning Amazing! Well done :) it must be such a relief to be on the other side. I'm so glad you said these resources helped, makes me feel a lot more confident!
Hey Tom what level would you say the MSRA is at? Med school finals or GP level? Would zero to finals be sufficient for doing well in the MSRA or should I be looking at postgraduate focussed books?

Genuinely the best advice I've seen for finals! Thank you!!
That is great to hear, thanks! More videos coming soon.
I wish I had seen your videos much earlier in my medical learning. Thank you so much!

Thanks, great comment. I hadn't heard of it called the spider model - useful to know. 😄

I will certainly cover OSCEs at some point!

I'm about to start med school in about a month. Hoping for more of your content! Thankyou
More will be coming! Congrats on starting your journey

Yes, I plan on creating an OSCE book that solves this problem - hopefully in the late part of this year.
Amazing! Thank you for this
Thank you from morocco
Dude how do you do all this. Work as a GP and write four text books, make revision cards, record audiobooks, make YT videos. 🤯
It did take more than 5 years to get to this point. I like being busy 😊 Maybe I should make a video answering this question - what do you think?
@@TomWatchman It seems this video hasn't been made, please do so! I would like to know!

It's coming! Gosh so much to do 😅
How can I studies nursing and pass my exam
Great 🖤
Currently in my first year of Physician Associate school. Honestly, you hit the nail on the head. This video is just what I've been looking for.
That's great to hear! Thank you
Hey Alex, I've just completed my Masters in Physician Associate Studies. Dr Tom really got me through it all. Good luck in year 2!

This was super informative and helpful in my grad school! I wish you had kept making more videos 😢 They’re really interesting 📗📕📚
Hi Tom! are you planning to put your O&G book onto audible at any time soon? Cheers
Hi Clair, yes. I have been recording it recently. It will still be a few months, due to the editing, upload and approval process.
Is there a 2nd edition of surgery book coming soon? I am hesitant to buy the first edition
Probably not for 3 years (that would be my best guess)
@@TomWatchman Thanks for the reply. Why can’t I order your physical Flashcards to Germany?
@@mezomoza7 Really sorry, we don't ship internationally 😟

Keep the great work up. Thanks a lot.

It is probably about medical school level. Zero to Finals is definitely sufficient (many people use it for the GP exams also).
