    I think there was some confusion at our test result. We have a standardized ThinkView test, which applied to all laptops:
    - The screen was set to 250nits at 60Hz,
    - Using Python to automate office tasks including watching videos, type writing, texting, doing video call/video conference.
    The goal was to make the test base off real-life regular office workload with mixed usage.
    And my use time when using the machine was basically the same as the test result.
    I've mentioned in many videos before about our method of testing. You can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/CRiLrcGem7M/w-d-xo.html

      Constructive feedback, I think from here on you should always mention this method of battery testing so it paints a clearer picture. In stead of having to hunt for your method it helps the (new) viewers see how you came to this conclusion.
      Your battery testing methods is a little deceiving but at the same time good because one can have an idea what to expect if they scale back from your methods. For example on battery I would not do video calls, that will eat up too much battery. You didn’t mention what resolution you watch TH-cam but I would keep it at 1080p.
      Even display brightness I would drop down further, but that one is personal preference .
      More importantly one has to take in consideration the battery size. This dell uses a 55whr battery so there’s also that to consider. Please take all this into consideration when doing your battery test. In my opinion if a person scales down from your test you should get at least double or more from your results.

      I like the standardization of the battery test. We can see on an absolute scale the raw battery life between laptops. That being said, after watching the battery testing methodology, is it possible to dial back the intensity of the automated script (or include a variation of it alongside the current)? In the future, it would be great to contextualize the battery life test as something closer to what a power user's workflow looks like. Would also love to see actual data regarding the amount of power each activity included in the script uses.
      The battery life results chart can be very misleading by itself; I and others would appreciate if additional data visualization of Wh efficiency was explicitly provided.

      Maybe testing at 250 nits is making the OLED display use more power due to having to quit PWM. A lot of other people test at 200 nits or 150 nits where PWM kicks in and saves power. I prefer 250 nits as I think that's what people would use in a decently lit office environment.

    For battery life: if you normalize the times per Wh, then Intel looks like the most efficient. It just has a smaller battery compared to the other two (55Wh vs 75Wh vs 80Wh).

    I have the xps lunar lake with 16 gigs of ram and 512 gigs of storage. Non OLED model. I don't know what you're smoking and I don't want any of it. I'm easily getting 12+ hours in balanced mode with real world usage. I'm sure I could get even better with a few tweaks. There's no way in hell your figures are correct.

    Hello Casper. I have the Dell XPS 13+ the original model that came out. I really don’t like the keyboard or the function row. I probably wouldn’t buy the lunar lake unless they would’ve changed the design from the original 13+.Randy Illinois

      I think it is the other way around: if the others get 2-3 times the battery, maybe he is doing something sketchy, or maybe there is a defective battery inside this laptop.

    • @abaj006
      @abaj006 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The others get long battery life for video playbacks. Intel has also introduced a new benchmark which tests battery life differently, and simulates a very light workflow, which favours lunar lake. In reality, using the laptop for anything moderate or intensive will produce worse battery life compared to the competition. That being said, the iGPU in lunar lake is more efficient than AMD 890M.

    • @FlorinArjocu
      @FlorinArjocu 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@abaj006 I've seen maybe 2 different tests, one was using the browser and refreshing Wikipedia (I think) every 10 seconds or so. Then, one of the benchmarking suits has a battery test with Office work, as far as I remember. In any of these tests, which is most likely the target usage, Lunar Lake is doing great.

    no mention of what settings or what exactly he's doing with (ie gaming browsing video watching) what brightness. Same thing with the other lunar lake laptop review. Not to mention there are oled meteorlake laptops that have better battery life.
    There's also no way this laptop is worse than my 11th gen yoga 9i 2 in 1 (1185g7) which gets 9-10 hrs mixed usage.
    Granted it doesn't have oled but still, on pure video watching at 720p I get 7-8hrs with my yoga 9i. So not sure what they're doing.

      2k screen? Oled? 120h? Touch screen? Small battery? Shitty choices from Dell and a 200V is NOT a 258V.
      The Zenbook S 14 has litteraly x3 battery life and way better perfs

    • @errorcode503
      @errorcode503 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      In the snapdragon version of the XPS 13 the battery life seems to be almost halved on the versions with the OLED panel compared to the base IPS display variant. Even then 5 hours is incredibly short, this is why it's important for reviewers to actually say what their battery life test consists of. If it was done using max brightness outdoors and with a lot of white displayed on the OLED or on a higher performance setting it would be significantly reduced. I'd imagine that it should realistically get up to 10 hours with the OLED version depending on power and display settings

    You need to explain why you are the only TH-camr reporting 5 hours.
    Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) else on TH-camr is reporting at minimum 15 hours, and the number of closer to 20 hours.
    Since you are the extreme outlier, the ball is in your court...
