She still claimed she didn't eat them. I couldn't help but to laugh. I know that wasn't a good message/lesson but it was just so outrageously obvious she ate the cupcakes. 😂🤦🏾♀️

JJ saved the wife from falling into her husband's mouth when they got home. What an arrogant and ridiculous excuse for a man he is.
That is the only reason she got up there. Because she knew if she didn't it was going to be a long journey home. She want see JJ again but her husband she knows what she will have to deal with.

I raise chickens, and I was waiting to see how much JJ was going to offer per chicken, and I'm so glad she didn't lowball him. People think because you can buy a baby chick for 5 a piece at a feed store that they're cheap. Chickens cost a lot of money and time to raise up, and if he's showing chickens and selective breeding, those chickens cost him a lot of money. Rare breeds can be very pricey. And now he has to start all over. It's such a shame, but at least she gave him the maximum she could.
Same. When he said he was a breeder I knew the time and money involved, I've been a breeder for 15 years. Depending on the breed and quality....man. chickens aren't cheap
I think she said $100 a chicken because $5000 is the most she can award and she wanted to express her dissatisfaction with the defendant's lies by awarding the maximum.
20 plus years ago the county I lived in gave me $25 for my pet chicken. My little red hen that I raised from a chick. She was euthanized because of a so called bird flu.

JJ questioned her with such loud and quick-fire questions that the wife forgot to deny Goldsmith met her at the gate. That single bit of evidence was all JJ needed to make a determination based on a preponderance of evidence, and she didn't want her to keep going and potentially lie in such a way as to complicate the decision. However, there may have been a much lower award for damages if that was the end of the evidence, but the husband just had to open his mouth, and with every word and denial he gave every reason to award the maximum.

Mr Goldsmith was an excellent witness. No 'umms', hesitations, readily answered JJ, backtracked the story some during questioning and answered the same, and was clear, concise and well spoken. He can live on our property anytime to keep an eye on our place. :-D Happy they won the case fair and square and with the top amount given that he could receive.

@@amo2464 JJ didn't allow her the time to dig herself into a hole. She was going to add things to the conversation with the older man that wasn't true. JJ knew it and cut her off. Her husband continued the lies until JJ abruptly cut him off with her judgement. 😂

JJ in a flash calculated the maximum she could give at $5k, she seriously disliked this defendent. She hates dog owners that don't look after their pets properly, oh and she's not very keen on liars either. This guy ticked all the boxes!

Like "He doesn't take care of his dogs and he's a liar, what an asshole." and the second person adds "Yeah, he's an asshole, and that's before you even consider the fact that he's unkind his wife"

Defendant is delusional... Reminds me of the times I've been attacked by people's dogs while the owners tell me they won't bite. Like come on woman, the dog has it's teeth on my legs are you blind? But that's how it goes with dog owners, their dogs do no wrong..

I have a family member who even after witnessing multiple times, her dog jumping and biting me on my arms, face, head- one time at the back of my neck- she would go around to the rest family talking about her dog is an angel and my parents and I are the ones irritating her dog and her dog is so gentle and kind and obedient.
Her dog doesn't even listen to her and does the same thing to her, but she considers it as he's playing.
One time I was put with my 2 dogs, and her dog came charging at me. (Keep in mind, all three are Belgian Malinois).
My girl, Venus sprinted at him and grabbed him right before he reached me and flipped him on the ground, snarling and growling in his face.
Only after he stopped struggling and submitted did she let him go.
She protected me.
Then this family member wants to say my dog is hurting her poor dog and has no training.
Like please- if you don't discipline and train your dog- a dominant dog will eventually come along and do it.

And yet, it was satisfying when the judgement came down abruptly. A real feel good moment for the plaintiff and justice for those poor chickens.

The defendant lied through his teeth, and JJ proved again how smart she is to pick up on the dirt being used to try to cover up evidence of the dogs being there. The defendant’s mouth got very dry after he realised he was caught lying and tampering with a crime scene. Major embarrassment on his part. I find it disturbing his wife who works in law enforcement was prepared to go along with his cock and bull story. The defendant and his wife give me the heeby jeebies. Very glad the plaintiff got the maximum. Oh and i love the plaintiff’s witness, such a sweet simple honest man living on the farm. JJ got this 100% right.

Those poor chickens. What a way to die, being torn apart by pitbulls. And that neighbor doesn't have an ounce of sympathy for his dogs doing this or for the plantiff's trauma at his seeing his animals (that he raised from chicks) being in bloody masses across his yard.

Defendants go on these shows because the show pays the settlement. That is why there is a $5,000 cap. So although the defendants may look like jerks, the cases get settled and they aren't out any money. In this case, the defendant saved $5,000.
He still lost face in front of national television, plus all over the world so they can see the piece of work that he is.

She's not brave, she's terrified of her husband and what he'd do if she didn't tell their made-up story as best as she can remember that they rehearsed a few times before they went to court. The husband has SERIOUS anger issues, you can see it going on near the end of this second part in his facial expressions, he's pissed that JJ and probably the fact that she's a woman, is talking to him the way she is. That probably doesn't happen at all in his household. I feel sorry for her (the wife) she'll probably stay with him forever, but maybe she'll be able to get out of the relationship some day.

That is the best witness statement ever. Stating clearly and simply what he saw and did. No fluff or rehearsal about it.
So the defendant thinks that the chickens got killed by someone elses dogs or a wild animals and then they planned for the guy who lives on the property to follow the neighbors dogs to their house, have the neighbors let them in the yard, and the wife to drive up exactly at that time. Wow that's some professional collusion they have going on there. Very detailed and there must have been a lot of poeple in on it.
He also planned the Kennedy assasination.

Notice when the defendant's wife is testifying, several times he looks down and taps whatever is written on his papers, obviously attempting to influence her testimony.
Amazing that he claims what the police recorded as part of his statement was untrue and claims the plaintiff and his witness were in collusion to lie about the circumstances and facts. Would love to see the bodycam. I actually wish JJ had let him go on to see what twisted theory he would present to "prove" it wasn't his dogs.
Also, to anyone keeping chickens, they are highly vulnerable to random attacks. Do the right thing and get one of the inexpensive electrified net fences to circle your coop and chicken-run to protect your flock and save yourself heartache.

$100. a chicken is low balling the amount of money the plaintiff put into the birds as show birds, feed, vet bills, and the destruction of his business.
They're easily worth $100/chicken. Think of the loss of income for each egg laying chicken alone. And he selectively bred each one, fed, and housed them.

How ridiculous. His dogs were obviously let out to roam as they pleased and then he killed the neighbor's chickens. He didn't even give a reason for why it couldn't have been his dogs. He just kept saying "That's not true". He's like a little kid caught with chocolate saying "I didn't do it".
To be fair, he didn't get to present the evidence. The lady said the other dog was black not brown... I suspicious about the neighbor that opened the gate to the dogs but the gate was supposed to be locked. It could be that the black and white dog went under the fence to play w that neighbor dog and from there they killed the chickens, what would be a 50/50 responsibility from both owners.
His dogs dug under the fence and got out, they weren't LET out.

The problem is, most likely, that the guy that owned the dogs didn't realize how dang expensive the birds and coop repairs were going to be. $100 per chicken is more than most would have awarded, but honestly given the guy sells eggs and shows birds, it should cover his losses long enough to raise up another flock of layers, about 6-10 months. The dog owner probably looked at a bill of $5000 plus and decided to deny the heck out of it. He probably thought it would be a couple hundred bucks and be settled. Nope!
It was more than just replacing some laying chickens. The man was selectively breeding them so that he could improve the breed. All gone into dogs mouths.

Sadly, dogs that kill chickens, will kill again. In most areas, you have the right to protect your livestock through extreme measures, if needed. He's lucky he got his dogs back.........
