I appreciate the simplicity and the details you put into your video.
The review we needed! 41 mins just for part 1 LOL. Sweet, looking forward to this.
eGPU gonna be a pain to make but meh, it’s fun
Weirdly enough this is actually my favorite review of the Legion Go so far. It feels very much like what my impressions would be like if I owned all three devices (only own the Deck rn)
To be fair this guy has a huge Legion bias so didnt expect anything else 😂
Legion GO has the worst dpad critisized by everyone and this guy says its the best 🤷♂️
Rly cannot take this guy seriously myself in case of Legion
@@Ragy- ??? Dpads are always subjective
@@Ragy-yeah some of the things he said i was like hold on 🤔 dude just contradicted himself
@@Ragy-it’s not a bias my man. If something is good, then it’s good. 🤷
I buy all of my legions and asus and handhelds out of pocket. Why would I be biased towards one or another? Doesn’t matter to me if one’s better or not.
@@Ragy-Are you serious hon?! Either you are a teenager or a very young person who is very emotionally immature and clearly have short sightedness in general! Who the heck cares if some people say one thing? Yes, many share the same opinions at time and it doesn’t devalue or invalidate his opinion on the d pad in the slightest, because it’s called having a different opinion! No one is wrong, just different perspective. Grow up
I get mine next Monday. I accidentally ordered two so ill sell the other instead of returning it. Awesome review look forward to part two! Im excited like a kid aftwr this review because it certainly comes across the most genuine ive seen thus far. Cheers 🍻
Great video.... getting mine Tuesdays can't wait
Amazing review. Subscribed bell on! To the point all the good info. Seriously a good review.
your review is very genuine and comprehensive, thank you for your great effort.
Ive been waiting for this video! Since I was talking to you in Discord! I can't wait to get mines!
Oh hey dude. Soon soon
I’m picking up mine tomorrow. I’m super excited!
Absolutely well worth the wait! I pre-ordered two - kept one for myself and gave one to my son, lol. We received them this Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Couldn't be happier with the purchase! The screen alone is worth every penny.
Yeah you can basically skip most of my video, watch the screen part. And be sold.
I can't believe that... Have you never played a console game in your life? These joysticks alone are a deal breaker for me.. the deadline is literally at 50%. Then at 55% it just flies full speed.. I seriously find it close to impossible to believe anyone is happy with this
The deadzones should be able to be calibrated in the future if not already
@@PIFFthePUFF420 My main gaming happens on a desktop PC where I prefer the precision of a keyboard and mouse, so the handheld is more for casual gaming sessions when I'm away from my desk. It's about convenience and enjoying games in a more laid-back setting. Regarding the joystick deadzone issue, I noticed a similar thing with the ROG Ally I had previously, but it improved with updates. I'm optimistic the same will happen with the Legion Go. Every device has its quirks, but it doesn’t take away from my overall experience for what I use it for.
@@PIFFthePUFF420Return to whoever raised you and demand a refund. You failed them and yourself
Well done very thorough review! Work on your brand and you may be going places!
Down to earth, grounded and very informative - good job sir!!! :)
Awesome review! I've got mine ordered waiting for it to arrive. I'm thinking about getting an eGPU for a 3080 I have but to use in handheld mode. Have you seen massive differential in performance between an external monitor vs handheld? I'm worried it might be a waste of time with the bandwidth limitations
llked and subbed for honest down to earth review
Finally you got yours. Can't wait for part 2.
Yeah I’ve had for a few days. I basically stayed in my office testing it constantly for days :P
I'm enjoying my Legion Go -- some games stress it more than others.... guess we'll see how updates come along.
Excellent video, by far the best legion go review I’ve seen.
Thanks, hope it’s useful to the people
The best review so far the only review with EGPU also. I'm still waiting on my Legion GO since shipment date here in Korea is the 9th. Legion Go seems very promising especially the screen is pure perfection to me.
This is the best review I have seen of the Go, so thankful so much. I’m an older lady so I need that large screen! It’s exactly what I need!
One thing I'm curious about is how much playing through parsec or the like would improve battery life. Have you tried that?
Great review. 1600p with FSR performance is looking awesome
When is the egpu videos coming up! I have spent days on searching info about egpus with the GO. Please release 🙏
Any issues plugging it in to an external monitor / TV?
I'm hearing some people are having problems with it defaulting to portrait mode.
What a fantastic review
How are the dead zones on the joysticks? your in depth review did not cover this so I was curious if it was overlooked or you just didn't have any issues with them.
Love the feel of the controls. All buttons work in unison for my fingers. I like where the power button is as well. Time to do my own testing!
Nice. Test away !
Awesome to see 4x games being used on a Handheld like the Legion Go. It's big screen does it justice and makes it somewhat viable seemingly.
the problem is.... I will spend WAY too many hours in them now....
I cant wait for my Legion Go to get here. The bigger screen and detachable controllers are a nice touch. If you think about it, Lenovo has unintentionally created an iPad mini competitor. I will have to test it out once it gets here. From the looks of it, the Legion Go is shaping up to be the best mini tablet for gaming.
The go has bad battery life 1,5 hours vs the ipad 10 hours, so no
@@EnjoyCocainelmao have you checked asus ally? I got go bc bigger screen and slightly better battery life
Can both the USB4 be connected to monitors so it runs dual external monitors?
Where can I get that Harry Porker game? It looks awesome!
Which one do you think has as better Dpad? I'm torn between the Ally and the Go. I wish the Go had a better processor or something to make the decision easy.
Since you can take the top of the thumbstick off, are there any good replacement caps that would fit? Maybe even get longer ones lol
I don’t have these but I foresee a good 3rd party support on eBay, Amazon, etc.
Best detailed review ever
Thanks 🤝
Hey beau I’ve noticed for 2 units (one replacement) of the legion slim 7 gen 8 amd that I got I’ve been having a wierd issue where geekbench/cinebench scores significantly drop after 2 days. Same power mode, plugged in, no apps running. Have you experienced this?
No I haven’t. Are you sure there isn’t any malware or bloatware being stalled?. Also where are you getting your gpu drivers
@@TechGuyBeaulmfao windows was stuck on best power efficiency. I am so mad at myself for not finding this earlier but at the same time why tf does vantage not change this depending on the power mode?
Anyways disregard the issue
Having the detachable controllers it's a plus, I imagine in the future there will be third party ones available (with different shapes and sizes)
Also good to use in portrait, i'll probably leave the iPad at home while traveling since this can replace it
@@ivantan8877 Sole reason I bought it over the rest, this is going to be perfect for a bullet hell setup on the go
That was a awesome review I've watched alot of reviews on this thing and i think yours was the best.
Totally the review I was looking for - in-depth content, instead of PR talking points... you're the hero we need. Random niche question if you know - how's the real-time audio latency?
Thanks, I’m glad you found it useful. As for the audio I’m sorry I don’t have that answer. The discord community for the legion Go is quite good, perhaps join up and ask someone there
1.) How much storage were available out of the box since Windows etc. drains X amount of space?
2.) Do you know if external USB SDD will keep disconnecting if handheld is using PSU too?
I decided to buy Legion Go too, because of 2 USB-C ports, Hall Effect Sticks, Big screen etc. Waiting for local store to get it in stock, hopefully today.
Mines keep disconnecting even when the power supply is not plugged in the next usb-c port
@@dutchie45mk Did you try with a powered USB Hub?
@@V3ntilator no, don't have a hub so hard drive was plugged in one USB with the power supply plugged in the next port
@@dutchie45mkI read that it needs a powered Hub, or it's own PSU connected for it to get enough power.
Great video!
The thing is... Can it replace a, for example Mac Mini M1, for image editing in Photoshop or Lightroom (connected to an external monitor).
Since my Mac Mini M1 has only 256GB, I am considering to replace it with a Legion Go - connected to an external monitor and use it for Photoshop, Lightroom and maybe for video editing in DaVinci Resolve. It would be great to see a video about the Legion Go as a desktop-replacement.
Yes, other reviews mentioned this. Whatever a laptop can do, the Go can do as well including what you want it for.
I don't even have a huge steam library. just a bunch of 90s pc games, and pinball emporium. Still excited to set all that up. Trackpad and FPS mode are HUGE.
Does the legion go have a camera, because I noticed a cut out in the screen protector. Also where'd you get the screen protector?
Screen protector just Amazon it’s a Y700 legion tablet screen protector (I have a short about it).
It’s. It a camera, it’s a light sensor
Some of the other reviewers have said that the integer scaling doesn’t actually work on the Go’s screen. Right now apparently it can only work on external displays.
The difference in colour between this and the Ally seems to come down to this being set in the dci-p3 colour gamut while the Ally is used in the correct srgb or rec.709 gamut. If that is the case then what you are raving about is oversaturated colours, meaning it is not accurate or how the content is supposed to look. You can prefer that but if this is what is going on then you should realize it is not accurate. I wish Notebookcheck had a review of the Go since they take measurements and would confirm if this is the case.
The screen the Go uses is from a Lenovo tablet and that tablet is hdr capable which would probably help explain the high dci-p3 coverage it has. It'd be nice if Lenovo would make the Go hdr capable as there is nothing that should prevent that from happening.
You're right colors do look overly saturated on the go.
soooo...whats the best way to play retro games? Download emulators thru android?
Hello my computer is old and Im thinking to buy a Lenovo Legion go my question is buying a Lenovo Legion go can i play at minimum/médium setting like Hogwarts legacy, citie skylines 2,cyberpunk?
Second question do you think probably i can play in this Lenovo almost Next year PC game releases at least minimum/médium settings?
Thanks
You should be good for the titles you mentioned. City skylines is kind of broken, but I’m sure they will fix it. Even the most demanding games will run on this handheld so long as you are OK to lower Settings
I barely game on my ps5 or gaming pc anymore, I just use handhelds
Your reviews are really good 👍. Without that clickbait and uninformative trash style that many reviewers are used to
Thanks dude. I just like tech and spreading info about it
We have to wait til december 15 to get these in Australia I'm so keen
I bought Lenovo Go yesterday and i will keep it.
What type of NVME your using ???
just want to know just for video play back how long will it last ? 6h? 3h?
Probably more. Set the wattage down to low, and have at it. The 7840u processor just sips power realistically when it gaming
Pro tip when you have your device off and you wanna know the battery percentage before fully charged, just take the cord out and put it back in. It will stay off, but I will tell you how much battery percentage is left.
im gonna wait till gen 2
What egpu did you use? Does it work? Plz help
I’m going to be putting out a full eGPU video soon. Working on it this weekend
good video. i think you're underwriting the premium you get.
It costs more but you're getting your moneys worth in every respect, so unless size is really your gripe or your budget is really strict, then it just seems like the clear winner to me.
I'm a little older and this feels better . more solid in my hands.
Help pls wivh better i buy
Glad I’m not the only one who thought the right controller feels loose and has slight play, thought it was a defect with my device but it maybe just normal, I can’t tell when I’m playing games tho so it’s not much of a big deal.
At 21:25mn the rog ally show a more accurate skin tone on the hand, the go have a strong red cast. Also at 25:29mn.
I own a Go. Whats stopping us from just getting a laptop? Im genuinely curious. Laptop we have mobile data , keyboard, better graphics at $800 what are your thoughts? Thanks
form factor is what's stopping you. you need to realize Laptop and Handheld form factors are 2 different things regardless of how much "POWER" the handheld has. the form factor alone can create a massive amount of situations for you to play your games in. what's stopping me from playing my games on my bed or couch when Steam Deck/Rog Ally and Legion Go exist? and prior to that 3DS/DS/Vita/PSP etc etc existed
Form factor and again the so called gaming laptop with an Rtx 2060 wont even last you 30 minutes of gameplay on the battery
Portability is a big thing, I just got the Go, haven't done lot with it so far, but can see it doing lots of laptop/tablet like stuff, beyond handheld gaming, I did get a Asus Xflow 13, only has a 4050, but weights 2.8 lbs, has been nice to travel with, and capable of playing games.
I'm still playing around with the Go and waiting for the updates to arrive. 2 hours at best battery life, no you can plug in to charge, you have ro completely stop what your doing to get actual increase in charging of the battery, the tablet area can get very very hot, not warm but hot as the fans blow in the background pretty loud. $800 laptop I'm getting more for my money just on paper. 2 hour battery with no way to continue to game/work and charge the device and keep going is pretty nuts.
@@jetli3333 "2 hour battery" my guy , its an APU running games at a high performance on a battery with plenty of hardware attached to a small form factor, the fact that you even get 2 hours is a LOT as Steam Deck gets 1:30 at best. but this depends on game and power profiles , if you reduce the TDP or lock the frame at lower fpses , it will increase battery life drastically. not every game has to run at the maximum TDP to have the perfect performance. in fact even gaming laptops have the same issue. so the fact you say "i'm getting more for my money" is plain wrong. you just keep plugged in is the more likely scenario here
as to why it doesn't charge when you game , its a security feature with Legion Go to avoid damaging your battery , you can disable it and let it charge just fine while you game.
it getting hot is a normal thing. but it way too loud is perhaps due to you having the maximum power profile on. try playing something smaller and lock frames or use lower TDPs & see your battery life grow.
if you got this device thinking you were gonna play the latest and greatest games that eat a lot of power for 6-7 hours , sell this device immediately as this is not for you.... and you have no clue what this device is for.
After using the GO for a few days I've come to the decision that I prefer the Ally... The VRR screen on Ally, I had some problems with games running on the Go due to the Portrait screen, the software is much better on Ally, the Ally is a lot more portable, the speakers are much better on Ally, the Ally is quieter. The big screen is nice on the GO but the Ally screen is still fantastic and there are too many things the Ally does better. I think I will keep the GO but I prefer the Ally for sure ...
Folks are saying flex audio brings out the speakers more. You right folks just don't understand having a vrr screen is a MUST in these low tier apu's.
@@mosthated8848 just w8 for ally 2 with new apu
@@mosthated8848yea but they still don't sound close the the allys are decks speakers and no vrr is a huge no no for me
I just ordered an open box ally for $519. The 300 dollar difference from the GO and peoples review of it having VRR led me to try the ALLY to see if im happy with it
@@titansfan2104 Hope you get a good unit ... If you do - it's a fantastic handheld ... let us know how it goes ....
This looks great now all I gotta do is decide who does not get a crimbo present this year so I can buy a LegionGo 😆
Do you think no vrr is a deal breaker?
Nope. I have an ally too. I don’t notice screen tearing at all on the go
Really nice review, thanks a lot. :) Just to be the smart guy, one detail: 4X games are not "4 times" games, but "4X" games, as in eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate. As I said, tiny detail to be a smartass, really enjoyed your video!
I noticed it when editing and was like, meh. Close enuff lol
Do emulation and emu deck for windows
I can do that later in my gaming video sure. Luckily I’m a Patreon sub to emudeck windows
Great review - all subjective opinions aside i think we all should take a moment and really thank Valve for busting open the floodgates to this market. their work has definitely influenced ASUS and Lenovo to enter this space.
and Valve's software work is going to benefit almost all Linux users across the board on any device. they made Gaming on Linux a very viable and stable thing , 5 years ago no one thought it would be possible. i can't wait to see what they cook with Steam Deck 2 in the future. as for now Lenovo Legion Go is perhaps the best Windows handheld , where as imo Steam Deck crushed the market as a whole because its software is far more stabilized and streamlined + you can't really compete with $399 starting price , i wish nothing but great things for Lenovo here.
Yep. And the steam deck is still good considering hold old the chipset it. They really provide a lot of support to this day and will continue to
@@TechGuyBeau Steam Deck is going to have a console-like lifespan so despite older APU , its gonna feel very optimized and its gonna use it properly. i wish ASUS and Lenovo did the same instead of relying on Windows because imo that extra work and software support is the real deal , good hardware can only get you far but good software and support and community is eternal
Is it better to run game at 1600 and turn on fsr to performance or just run at 800p without fsr ?
that is your choice. raw performance is better on 800p native. but its a bit less crisp than 1600 p with FSR.
Typically it depends on the game, so I've been using 800p on some, and 1600+FSR on others .
playing with settings can be fun too
@@TechGuyBeau ty ! Did you run Lenovo drivers or 7840u ?
@@sharlatandjaul3739 not for the review, but I’m running them now :)

Can we add 900p as we did to Asus Ally before the new update?
Might have to order that official screen protector...
Yeah we don’t have that here. This is a y700 legion tablet protector. Same screen but not quite perfect
I'll wait for the open box ones
They already have open boxes in Hawaii according to a different youtuber that lives locally. Well they are most likely sold out by now...
Always a decent idea if patient. Money is money
Just got the 1TB version for $639 plus taxes
They already have them at Best Buy but will sell out extremely fast
My left controller is loose and wobbles…….anyone else have this issue
I haven’t heard. But just contact Lenovo, they have good support. Chat and phone options

Any SD card issues?
I haven’t heard anything yet from anyone on discord, Reddit, or TH-cam. I think so far we are good to go
Rog ally speakers are game changing imo. Ive heard details in games now that i didnt know exist even on steam deck.
they are very good speakers
I went in a store and thought the speakers on the Ally was amazing.
I got kids and need decent speakers as I can't hear the ones on the switch.
The Lenovo has worse speakers, so it's a total deal breaker for me.
@@BristolMattthe bad speakers and loud fans are a massive negative for me
As a person with low hearing compared to other 50 something olds, I always use headphones so the built in speakers doesn’t bother me whatsoever on the Go.

Then I realized he was talking 😂
Heavy
Everything at 800p is blurry
No VRR (which after purchasing an Ally last night, I’ve found is absolutely NEEDED on a hand held.

Returning it.
Made no difference whatsoever to me. I didn’t even notice it at all when I play games on the Go
other than the bugs. ya its growing on me.
k would looove this to be steam is with Linux but with windows ca[abiliyes.. then it would be perfect.
I still prefer Linux desktop but windows being able to play almost anything.. thats the only thing thats missing from steamdeck
and that's sadly a thing that isn't really Valve or Linux's fault. devs just need to make their anti-cheats compatible with Linux.
and personally speaking even without games that don't run , Steam Deck looks like it can play everything i want anyways so its the perfect package for someone like me.
Egpu enclosure for $150?? Pretty sure the Razer core x is like $350
Lots on sale and used floating around. Don’t buy it at msrp

Rog ally or legion go?
Same price? GO wins by landslide. But the ally can be had on sale now. Which makes things spicier
@@TechGuyBeau I’m starting to see open box legion go as well to make things even more spicier lol
That "wobble" with the joy-cons are kind of concerning, this D-pad is the absolute worst for fighting games, the Ally style works better for fighting .😮

lol nice
Damn those fans are loud though 😂 all you can hear when youre gaming

This has been one of the worst experiences in purchasing a new product. Their software is so terrible that it is a dealbreaker.. real question is how long would it take them to release a patch?
@@PIFFthePUFF420 I'm sure they will. It's more than just the software that turns me away though. I own an ally already with an xg mobile egpu. It's a far better product imo. You can hook up any egpus to the go bit TBH I haven't found one that's as functional and powerful as the Asus xg mobile series. Proprietary but just better.
11/10 was an update and 11/30 more updates
720p on the ally looks much better on the ally than it does on the go
You shouldn’t use 720p on the go, you should use 800p..
@@TechGuyBeau yeah that’s what I was saying. 720p on the Ally looks better than 800p on the go

Its such a tough call for anyone whois considering this or the Ally , i had the Ally and returned it when it first came out due to SD card and some hardware issues but i feel the games ran smoother with vrr but hated the ergonomics of the Ally.
The GO is giving me quite a few problems in games with the stupid portrait screen and finding work arounds to get them to work but the screen size and ergonomics are much better for me.
Best buys reviews r bad why ?
People trolling. Most of those reviews were posted before the handheld was even on sale or available. Fake reviews
Look for real reviews not hidden behind anonymity
There is alot of bad reviews on this thing but theres also alot of good. It all comes just comes down to personal preference because all handhelds offer you something different.
@@Shaunymac10absolutely. As with the ROG ally and deck, some people also don’t like handhelds at all. So they review bomb whichever handheld when in reality they should have bought one
Because people are entitled and impatient
Na im good with the Ally VRR is needed on these underpowered handhelds with erratic frame rates. I'll only be purchasing VRR handhelds after playing the Ally its just a buttery smooth experience compared to everything else in the market. Also the legion go doesnt have integer scaling unless you use a separate display as AMD doesn't support integer scaling in any mobile screen period end of story its been tested the 800p resolution looks considerably more blurry and soft than it should. Lenovo flat out lied about that why advertise it as a feature if you have to use an external monitor for it to actually function 😂 shady AF
Good thing you are not crying again.
were you offended I critiqued Lenovo? lol.
How dare someone look out for the consumer ;)
I don't think he is crying enough. This has been a terrible product so far.. no games that I play are actually playable
@@PIFFthePUFF420😂😂😂
How can anyone find these usefull Legion Go, Steam Deck, Ally,.....when the whole purpose of these devices is to play games mobile and not conected to a power cord. What is the point if you can only play for 1-2 hours and need to plug it in or leave it to charge. They should have placed most effort in the battery capacity and preformance, so you can last playing games for 5-10 hours without pluggin it in. What is the point of high graphics, high screen resolution when you need to keep it plugged in, then just buy a laptop instead.
We actually far back in battery technology in general
And because of this they cant make a bigger battery for the handled without making the handled way bigger
Facts!!! The steam deck is barely portable. Nintendo's switch lasts 5+ hours and these don't last even 2... And the fanboys lost their minds about detachable controllers loool!!!! You can't talk to the circle jerking Redditors or even convince them that there is an issue
I’m on disability and don’t spend a lot of time at all outside of my home. Battery life is not even an issue for me whatsoever
@@PIFFthePUFF420 Well it not like the switch was meant to play AAA games. So the battery lasting long isnt surprising.
I mean my aunties old nokia 3310 last hours playing snake🤣
Because you can sit on a couch with kids instead of in another room and play games. Plugged in or not it's more convenient than sitting in front of a monitor all the time. I have had a Switch for years and the Deck since it released and love them. If I'm going out I'm not taking a gaming machine unless I'm traveling and will have downtime before bed. They have their use cases.
Come on be honest who plays it at 100% volume
It is the ROG Ally without a VRR screen and bigger battery,
Way too heavy, the thing looks oversized and frankly ridiculous. Hasn't even got VRR.
Either get a lighter, more practical handheld or get yourself a laptop. This thing is a solution in search of a problem.
i think third party companies will make better joycons
It’s not worth the wait. Mine is so buggy legion space is useless. The Xbox app is all buggy. Everything about it is buggy the controls while playing Halo infinite is buggy. I have a slight input lag in the analog stick when playing halo. I just request a refund and a return.
