They’re not great but they’re serviceable. I had the Ally at the initial launch and the software was hard to deal with (eventually I returned to unit). Ironically the Legion Go has given me the same issues. Main difference for why I prefer the Legion Go is the massive screen. But if you plan to dock your handheld then the Ally is the better choice. Plus Asus corrected a lot of the initial OS issues.

I didn't know about the deadzone issue until you brought it up for us right here. If you have a Steam Deck OLED I could see having a ROG Ally and a Laptop and a Gaming PC too. Lenovo No Go.

I had GO and Ally in shop. I sticked with Ally thanks to VRR. It was so smooth. Bigger screen is nice, but you need to downscale games and that looks worse on bigger display. VRR is a way to go at least for me. I have TV with VRR support and it is night and day. So Ally team

I got tired of the poor performance of the DECK and got the ally on a whim a few weeks ago after ordering the OLED deck. Definitely agree on portable feel and ergonomics. While not as seamless as the deck it's been a game changing upgrade. Also for travel the smaller form factor makes this much more usable on a plane. esp when there is a 110V outlet for 30W

I went with the Ally before buying I just heard that the software is now in a good place which is true and the Go needs more time to bake software wise. The VRR panel on the Ally also did it for me. Super comfortable to hold as well. I’ve been playing COD and love it.

Bought the ROG Ally about a month ago. Returned it to Best Buy a week ago. Currently waiting for my Legion Go to be delivered this upcoming Monday. The Ally was too small of a screen for me and I have perfect vision. It was just way too small of a screen for me after playing multiple games. I originally picked the Ally based off of the VRR but, seems like if you have the settings correct for whatever game you are playing, you really wont notice the non VRR display on the Legion from what I've read. I should've just bought the Legion Go from the start but here we are.. pretty excited to test it out and use it. On Reddit there's a huge thread just for the Legion Go and a dev or someone affiliated for the legion go posts all the new updates in the works if you want to stay updated on all the latest news/updates. Watching this video to see other peoples opinions on the comparisons of each. Great content, keep up the good work!

Emulation is not as good on the lego because of the d pad. Also, i do think the ally is more comfortable and lighter with a better d pad and definitely feels a lot more like a handheld. Some games are better on the lego obviously because of the bigger screen. If i had to get rid of one, it would be the Lego, but i am thinking if i should keep both the ally and the lego.

Got the Legion Go, gave my Rog ally to my 10yr old son, when you've played on that bigger screen theres no going back, well for me anyway. Plus i found the thumbsticks on the Ally were way to slippery and dont grip at all, and was so uncomfortable to hold for long gaming sessions compared to the Deck and Go. I have chosen Rog Ally for these reasons 1)VRR even if you don't see it is there, protect the eyes2)Less fan noise because it has two no a big one 3)Best sound by far 4)It has filter at the grills less dust inside!5)Definitely more portable and lighter, more game machine and less tablet 6)It has smallest display for sure and not oled but it is very good. The oled displays have not solved the ghosting problem totally. For example at the tv they have improve it a lot but they have not given absolute solution.I am just asking at the small screens have?Sure the sd card is a con but not for all and at the new versions the most buyers don't have problem. And many who have the old version they don't too. But for sure this is a problem, i don't accept that the solution is bigger ssd, if you have problem return it or give it to the service.
So measure the positives and negatives.Sure Legion Go have positives ,i just refer the reasons that i have select Ally.It depends on your needs.

My go to mini pc is ayaneo 2, its a premium device, probably should upgrade it for some more juice, but im not that fussed. I dont get bogged down with numbers. Pc tech just aint that impressive where you need latest chips. Got a deck too, they hit lower numbers but they play really well. Go just that next level in screen size and how we use something. Being a handheld is its secondary or bonus. More a table top experience.

I upgraded from my steam deck with the GO and haven’t looked back. It’s better in every single way, and I absolutely loved my deck!…..the Ally looks and sounds like an awesome handheld too, if it wasn’t for the QC problems that seem to be very hit or miss, if you get a good one then you get an awesome device!….oh and I wish the ally had 4 back buttons too, that’s very important to me actually lol….great vid man!…….ps when you try out the remote play I. Lenovo Go also have 2 x USB-C 4.0 ports, so you aren't forced to get a dock. Also, game and DRM compatibility is way better on Lenovo than Steam Deck.

both of them has the biggest problem for me is, battery life, they sucks if I playing 3d games with 144hz or 120hz with rog ally, the battery can last about 1 hour or so.that is not enough for portable use when I am not at home, so if they can have a bigger battery like AOKZOE 65W battery, that will be awesome, even it is heavier, I just need that extra juice to play slight longer time when there is no charger available.

I was choosing between the Ally and Go about 2 weeks ago and chose the Ally. Smaller and more portable with better speakers and quieter fans. 1080p and VRR are perfect together. The fact that Best Buy had them in sale new for $600 was also a plus.
I'm playing RDR2 today at 900p at medium settings on performance and getting 50 to 55 fps consistently.

I went with the ally too and will be getting mine on Christmas. It was very challenging to pick between the two, but the ally had vrr, native landscape screen, better speakers, quieter fans, and better ergonomics. The legion go has a bigger screen, bigger battery, and can get a few extra frames but was just too bulky, in my opinion.

@@alexgibson7960 I'm not sure the battery on the Go is much better than the Ally. The larger screen and higher resolution that is on the Go has to take a toll on the battery. I'd say that they are close to about even.

@glennhkboy I was too, but the portrait screen and bulky size were the main reasons I didn't go for it. I play quite a bit of older games, but a lot of older games aren't playable on the legion go due to the native portrait screen. And since they are so old, they likely won't be updated to support it. So unless you dont plan on playing a lot of older games and don't mind the size, I think you'll enjoy it.
