G7 tour - Carbis Bay and St Ives 8th June

  • I rode all around the G7 summit area today, to see what is going on, and how busy it is. Police everywhere, military vessels and helicopters etc are buzzing around the area. It is a bit odd to see this on my doorstep, but nice to see it is all under control and as safe as it can be.
Very soon they will lock down the roads so locals only can go in and out for a few days while the G7 event is ongoing.
So this is pretty much last chance to look around.
Note: Drones are banned in this area, so my aerial shots were from a few weeks ago. (just GoPro and DSLR handheld today)

Nice bike! Thanks for the ride through. Incongruous indeed (the military vessels and surfers)!

I had a walkabout on Carbis Bay on Friday. They were still beavering away on the hotel. I wonder where the Americans will be parking up their aircraft carrier

Trivia: where is the police station in St. Ives. It took me fifteen trips or so to find it!

I have no idea. I know the one in hayle (which is always empty)
But that’s the only one I know nearby.

You'll have to do a tutorial on how you used the editing software to blur out your bike reg. 🤣

@@biscuitsalive Lovely!!!! That'll do for cross country. If ya make it to Germany via Dover - Calais pls give me a buzz. I once had a Yamaha SR 5OO. Japanese bikes have a prob with too soft alloy screws imho in particular the 14'' screw beneath the oil basin to exchange the oil. I used on mine a ratched and that screw broke off half way oblique on the stem, made me leak oil on the pavement when parked or riding so be really careful on that one. Darling, since then I prefer to go more for quality. I'm more BMW or Triumph fan. Too Nortons look fab. Love your modern digital speedometer. Enjoy + make the most of it!!!! St. Ives is one of the nicest biker regions, too Northern Scotland around Dumfernline + Edinburgh are amazing. Also Abergavenny North of Cardiff + River Whye nr Monmouth I can recommend. May Saint Christopher protect ya on all your endeavours!!!! 😉✌

Nice video but why the reference to ‘military ships?’ We call them naval ships in Britain or simply Royal Navy vessels!

What a waste of tax payers money, not to mention the disruption for the local people. Why not have the meeting on a ship surrounded by the Royal Navy and helicopters? Absolutely ridiculous.

    • @biscuitsalive

I don’t have that strong a opinion on it to be honest. It’s good if we can have decent relations with important and powerful world leaders.
And being in another country does help form a connection to that country and their leader.
And we are social creatures. Not everything can be done via zoom calls.
So I can see benefits. But also agree it’s a ton of money that could be spent another way.

@@biscuitsalive #Guardian has figures of 6500 police and 500 or so expected protecters (Anarchists & climate extremists). By my math that's 13 policemen for every protester. Surely they could have managed with 5500? Just saying. Then again, with #Bristol blowing up recently if that crowd move west it might not be enough?

@@aclark903 I would imagine they are much more concerned with terrorists than middle class protestors who want a pic for social media of them being “right on” and edgy.

    • @dangomes4855
      @dangomes4855 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I like the way the location has been kept a closely guarded secret, so the terrorists won’t get wind of it!🤣
I saw on the news that a local fisherman went out the other morning to earn a crust and was turned back by the RN ship lurking offshore. Also, stories of local restaurants losing customers as it is too much trouble for them to negotiate around the”ring of steel” to get to their destination.
