    In your recent review of the WL Toys Q333 you stated that "Alishanmao is the "Godfather of quadcopters". I just want you to know that I consider you as the "Godfather of quadcopters". Your site and reviews has stimulated this old Marine into a new hobby at 68 years old. Keep them comming! Following this comment I am purchasing a Kai Deng K70C from LighTake.com(hopefully the altitude hold version).
    Purchased a Q333 earlied, I put it on the shelf until I am experienced eneough to fly it. I started with a Hubsan502e and got spoiled. Thanks again!

    I am so happy that you posted this video. I recently bought a K70C Skywarrior and thought it was defective because when I turned it on and then turned on the transmitter, I couldn't get the throttle to do anything. Now I see that I must have the altitude hold model because when I followed your example, I got the thing flying. Thank you so much.

    Hello Mr. Quadcopter 101,
    First of all, I would like to thank you for all those videos that you have posted so far. Also, I must admit that I have seen majority of them. :) Your videos have shown me how interesting playing with drones can be.
    After buying a mini-drone, that I've also seen in your vids, I've decided to get a big one. Then I saw this clip. I find that Kaideng has everything one intermediate level flyer needs. So I ordered one over your link.
    I did the first fly today and in first couple of minutes everything seemed regular. I've checked altitude hold, one key return and automatic landing button. Then I wanted to check how far it can go.
    I was on the football field and on about 50m altitude it stopped to respond on my inputs. It was ascending on and on. I was constantly holding left stick down, changing rates from L to H. Also, I was pressing Return button from time to time. It simply flew away.
    Please, can you explain me why did this happen? I'm pretty sure I haven't done anything bad. Is there a chance that I could get a new one since the above mentioned site offers 100% guaranteed satisfaction? I have a video of my flyaway, too.
    Thanks in advance, and please reply to me,
    Dušan, Serbia
    P.S. A little feedback for you: Please, make couple of lists/top 10s, like best drones per your opinion according to prices, etc..
    Best regards! :)

      Dule 23 that is a flyaway issue this happens when there is a lot of WiFi signals or other interferences the transmitter will lose signal and the quad will respond to the last signal so it will keep flying and the wind will blow it away this happens a lot to me with my x5c what you need to do is run to the drone and rebind the transmitter this way you will gain control of the quad again

      HI Ian,
      Thanks for your answer. I was on a local football field, pretty sure there was not a lot of WiFi signals around. My drone went so high that it had no point of me running towards it (which I did).
      Anyway, I didn't find my drone :(
      All the best!

    Thanks,

    Really impressed by using this as my first Quadcopter experience. It so resilient. I have crashed it hard on concrete, trees, grass, stairs just because it is not a beginner level drone. I always thought that this time something must have broken but was surprised to see not even a single crack in any of the props or broken arms. I still have my spare props in the packaging. One suggestion: Use long screws for binding the legs into the drone as the default small screws makes them come out easily during hard landings.Apart from that, This is superdrone !

    Seems like a good upgrade (pity about the camera)
    Does that "not bound beeper" restart if you switch off the transmitter?
    If it does it could be a useful aid in a "lost in the long grass" situation.
    I speak as someone who has just spent an hour searching for an FX805 (the bright pink one) in the tall grass locally (I wasn't the pilot)

    I have three of them. The first one (no alt hold) is in the top of an 80' pine tree for 2 months now. It suffered from power drop off issues. The supplier sent me a new one free (two thumbs up to them!!) and upgraded it to an Alt hold version. I like it!! HOWEVER the auto landing feature is not consistent and landed it hard and flipped over (with prop guards installed!!) Do to the idle mode, it was slow to shut down. One of the big motors overheated and unsoldered its Red lead on the receiver board. If reconnected, the motor runs full speed when the battery is connected with switch off. I replaced the board and it worked great again. The same thing happened again when a prop got jammed on a twig! The feature is TOO delicate.. I do NOT recommended it for that reason alone.The next board will NOT be with Alt Hold!! With that said, I still like the standard K70 a lot

    alright I finally got some practice in with the Syma X8C and a prop guard had to be removed since it kept getting in the way and I can hold altitude reasonably well and I have gotten the hand of flying it its just landings I need to work on is all should I remove the prop guards now that they are proving to be a pain in the neck.

    I really like this quadcopter. But I'm having wiring problems where some the wires coming out from the camera/gimbal plug assembly to a connecting board that feeds into the guts of the gimbal appear to have come loose. I would really appreciate a link/picture of the proper placement of those wires....Thanks

    Just before my holiday I bought a Kaideng K70.
    I took it with me on my holiday to France.
    Unfortunately I had a bad a very experience with it.
    The second flight two motors refused to function. A bad burning smell came from the drone.
    After inspection it appeared that a wire came loose and some other components.
    The flightboard seemd to be melted some how.
    The only thing what happend was that I flew into a tree and hit some branches.
    One or two moters burned out I would have believed but this...?
    I blieve this must be due to improper soldering.
    Could I claim a warrant on this matter?

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, this can happen if the motors are not stopped immediately in a crash. This quadcopter does not have automatic stop. Replacement flight control boards are not available yet, but hopefully should be available in the near future. Lightake seems to be the best source of parts for this quadcopter, thus would expect them to get it first www.lightake.com/Product/Search?page=1&keyword=k70c&sort=6&showtype=1

    • @maartenvandijk
      @maartenvandijk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Quadcopter 101 for your reply! I had contact with Lightake and they will send me a new flightboard if I pay the transport. Seems to me fair enough. Kaideng claims for the predessor of the K70 (the K80) that the props will will stop automatically. Im really curious and backed their project to have one in October.
      I hope to see a review from you in future. Your channel really rocks!

      Not sure where you saw FPV? I couldn't find it listed in this link? shrsl.com/?~d71r
      But the version that's flown in this video is strictly a camera quadcopter (no FPV). But there are also other versions of this quadcopter available, both with WiFi and 5.8Ghz FPV.

    Hi There..... I've been watching your reviews for sometime and appreciate your observations and comments on the various quadcopters.... The video you post are excellent.... all round informative and entertaining.... Please would you tell me if you use Image Stabilisation during editing especially on the Syma X8C and Kaideng K70C videos... Thanks for your help..... ATB Ian

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I do not use any video stabilization as it tends to "blur" the video. Also, if jello is a problem for a particular bird, I want it to be apparent as these are reviews.

    I would like to ask a question if you would have the time.Today i took my K70c for the first flight, exactly the same version like the one you fly here.After 4 min flight,only close, it just left and disappeared in the woods,possible a river.I saw in a video in youtube hat the camera makes the controls go crazy,also that yours stopped recording by itself. Can this be true?It just stuck on forward and i could not even see how far it went.Thank you for your time.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may have flown out of range of the transmitter. How far away was it when it happened? Did you try to turn it back to you when this happened? Was there any response when you tried to turn it?

    • @spyrosBAxeVAniS
      @spyrosBAxeVAniS 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was at most 20 meters away and 15 meters high.I tried getting it down..also the return button, the landing button as far as i could run behind it...it just kept going..I am really sad,i only got to fly it for 5 min.

    I sent you another message a couple weeks ago. I have a problem with this drone but i haven't sorted it out yet. The right motor at the back keeps working by itself if the battery is in even if the drone is turned off. After some research i believe that the problem is either on the motor itself or on the flight controller (receiver board or motherboard if you want) of the drone. Do you have any idea where i could buy one that is for this specific version?

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you do any internal "maintenance" or "mods", or is it new and performing this way out of the box? If new, strongly recommend that you contact your vendor's customer service first as that sounds defective to me.
      If this happened after a crash or mods, the following is currently the best source of spare parts www.banggood.com/search/k70c.html?p=RB0922217402201307U3

    • @erwtoxtupimeno
      @erwtoxtupimeno 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dim Tsant You might want to wait until they restock that board, expected after July 28th. It should be the altitude hold version once restocked, but check first by asking in the customer's question section of that listing.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend any of the quadcopters that you mentioned as a first quadcopter. They're too big and heavy, and as such may break in your crashes (and there will be many crashes. It's a rite of passage for beginners). Instead I always recommend the lighter Syma X5C for new fliers, due to its excellent stability, durability, and ease of flying. And it even has a camera too. Use it to learn the basics of flight with. Let this cheap quadcopter take the inevitable crashes and bangs of a beginner flier. And if you break it, every part on it is cheap, widely available, and easily replaceable. Later as your flying skills improve and you're not crashing as much, then consider something better/more expensive. th-cam.com/video/y93vzA-KRlM/w-d-xo.html

      Ive flown quads b4, tho Im still a beginner. But just in case I already bought a 20 bucks drone which is should be shipped about now. The K70 is still a 'toy grade drone' isnt it? I plan on getting a proper camera drone in the near future, so even the k70 is pretty much practice

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The K70 is still toy grade, but you really should have some flight experience to fly it because it will break in a hard crash.

      I have a feeling if he's asking this manner, he probably never had one. Not trying to put the guy down, it just seems so.
      +Ron Mondar: I'd go with Syma X5C, then Syma X8C, and then some semi professional.

      David Kirinic Yep, X5C as his first quadcopter. Use it to learn to fly with. Then later add the X5C FPV kit to it if he's still interested in FPV.

      How would you replace the antennas? Do you know any good tutorials on how to do so?

    • @zombie8068
      @zombie8068 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a simple procedure, search youtube for drone antenna mod and just apply it to the drone you have. The remote was a little more work, but in the end its pretty simple. The antenna for the k70, I just used a basic soldering gun and cut out a hole in the top of my k70. I did have to strip some of the wire on the antenna I bought. all work included it took about a hour and dramatically increased my reception.

    how to recalebrate?

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is it doing? Here's how to calibrate 1) Turn on the quadcopter and place it on a flat and level surface.
      2) Turn on and bind the transmitter. Center all trim tabs.
      3) Leaving the quadcopter undisturbed, move and hold both control sticks to their lower left corners. Hold them there until the quadcopter's lights blink. If they don't blink, then try lower right corners, lower outboard, or lower inboard until you notice the lights blink.
      4) Let go of the sticks and try flying.
      But if the above doesn't help, and its flipping on takeoff, then you may have misinstalled propellers. There are two clockwise and two counter clockwise that must be installed on corresponding CW and CCW motors. If installed on the wrong motors, the quadcopter will flip, slide along the ground, or not takeoff.

    Nice of them to add altitude hold, though it doesn't do a particularly good job when in higher rates with full FWD pitch. Of course, none of the altitude hold quads I've seen do a good job of that. Video is still pretty "jello-y", and the fact that it can turn itself off is a possible point for aggravation. i can see a guy going out and thinking that he's getting all this great video, only to come home, take the Sdcard out and find that he only has a minute of video, and all the rest is gone. That would be disappointing indeed. Not a huge fan of "headless" or "one button return", as they generally skew off in some other direction after any amount of flying .. then again, this is a common problem with that feature on all quads. Saw the new "altitude hold" Tarantula .. just the unboxing .. but it looks promising. Can't remember if the 2S 2000mah battery is proprietary, but the site says it takes 300 minutes to charge! (5 hours!) I hope that isn't right. If it has a std. connector, people could use a hobby grade charger to speed up this process for sure. Thanks for the "update review" ... 2016 is going to be interesting with all the manufacturers trying to "one up" each other. Cheers.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The altitude hold Tarantula is tomorrow's video ;-) But as with the original Tarantula, it's vibrations do cause a lot of jello on its 1080p camera.

      Well, that's disappointing to hear. I saw in an unboxing video that they'd gone to some lengths to put a nice camera mount on it with dampening balls AND foam. Of course, they have 4-5 versions of this new one, so maybe the one you're doing is a different model. I saw the "Wi-Fi" version and that one .. uh ... "is not amazing". I'll watch out for your review. cheers.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll include sample video with and without the foam installed in tomorrow's video of the i8H. But IMO, I didn't see any difference. Major jello in both cases. Would probably be best to add your own camera via a credit card mount vice the stock camera.

    i would have liked a review of the actual flight time when lifting a gopro or clone. i have found my k70c has very poor flight time when increasing the weight with a gopro clone of 65 grams. 3.5 to 4 minutes of reliable video flight is all i can get. with junk ebay batteries it's even worse. removing the landing gear is necessary and there is significant time left after removing the camera when the drone falls(no LVC, just inadequate power) . total flight time of 9-10 minutes between taking a video and removing the camera to fly unladen...both without landing gear. this is my real-world experience with every conceivable youtube mounting system, some of which weigh virtually nothing. there is no possible way this will haul a 500 gram anything anywhere. my own featherweight system yields the 4 minute time and i'm pretty disappointed in that kind of performance for a "toy grade video drone" ...it's a great toy...flies great..but it's no camera carrier. sorry, but it just isn't, unless you can live with the stock camera and gimic gimbal....9 minutes of jello video easy. Also, the camera wires are extremely fragile and failed on mine on the first day, just from high wind jiggle. Buy this for a fantastic, fast, maneuverable toy quad and enjoy it. don't expect great videos of any length, even with a lightweight gopro or clone. Caveat is, i fly in wind virtually every day. On a calm day, maybe 5-6 minutes with camera (and resulting semi-usable video)...but i never get a day that calm for more than one day every couple weeks.
    I also realize expectations need to be realistic. i bought it as a hobby to play around with while recovering from surgery, and my experiments have yielded the above results. Buy it as a toy and it will not disappoint! It's a blast to fly unladen in level 3.

      congaronbo I just got this copter the other day, immediately I took off the stock camera and mounted my hero4 silver on it. Tried to fly, seemed to not lift it very well, stated to get frustrated. Then I just used a sticky mount and the frame mount for my GoPro, and waited until I had a fully charged battery.
      I got around 8-9 mins of video flight, and then another 3 ish with the camera off with a few flips for my kids.
      I did take off the prop guards and rubber feet pads to drop a few extra grams.

    Its a big pretty bumble bee, but I will pass on this one, there is still not enough spare parts to rebuild the one that i already destroyed. I think the wltoys q303 is a better camera bang for your buck, it's stronger and it will rebind in mid air if you loose contact,, you dont have to add LED'S like this one to assist in orientation. Buy all means I am no expert flyer. But I honestly know what I like, I dont hate this quad, but I will never buy another k70 regardless of new bell's and whistles!

    Quadcopter 101 please inform people to replace those weak plastic nuts holding the props with these bearings www.ebay.ca/itm/371541808073?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=640566344510&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and then insert a bit of paperclip metal through the hole in the shaft and twist them around to make a cotter pin kind of thing. On one of my first flights a prop spun off in mid air because those little plastic nuts holding the props with those little metal rods are just too weak and will eventually break off. Fortunately it happened just feet off the ground so the quad had no damage :) Anyone have a better idea let me know, I just think the metal bearings are going to last way longer, and I couldn't find replacements for those tiny plastic nuts anyways...
