    Hi I made this for my grandson It is about 52x42 it really worked fast. Because he wanted red and blue I didn’t use the yarn from video. When changing colors I usually went in a corner but, could probably use any chain one space. I was going to add picture but couldn’t figure how to attach it I’ll try by the written pattern.

    Mikey, I've been studying Granny rectangle afghans and noticed that some videos show starting in the back bumps, but that is not stated in the accompanying written patterns. Once I saw it with RS at the beginning in the written pattern and using back bump in the video. Is it something that is just known by experienced crocheters?for the Granny? I cant wait to try this. You were awesome with the instructions. Thank you.

    • @AnonymousAmyMakes
      @AnonymousAmyMakes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jeanna Mancini Using the “back bump” is just a preference. Mikey usually always uses the back bump for most of the tutorials I’ve seen. It makes for a neater edge on certain patterns. Hope that helps.

    When starting a new row why didn't you turn and continue the other way? I feel like this would be better and faster because you wouldn't have to slip stitch over every time. Or is there a definitive reason it's not done this way?

    Mikey, I don't like to slip stitch so what I do at the last corner is chain 1 and half double into the top of the first double, aka starting chain. I then do a long chain and 3 double crochet for the first part of the corner I work the rest of the round and then end with the last 3 double crochet ch 1 and hd in the top of the first dc. This way I have a very neat corner and no slipstiching.

    Can you use this rectangle pattern in a log cabin pattern?

    I'm never going to get this, I find its to fast I have to be able to see it slower.

      Debbie Doo I’m so sorry. Have you tried slowing down the player. You can control my speed. The gear in the bottom right can change speeds. I’m so sorry.

    Is there a joining seam? If so, is there a way to do a continuous spiral (I know it’s a rectangle so that sounds silly, but you know what I mean)? 😂

    I'm currently making this and I feel like it's going to be much longer than it is wide. Is there a reason that might be?

      How did yours end up? I am worrying about that myself since I am working on one now.

      Vickie Stiefer I started over and made the starting portion shorter. I may start again and just do a modern granny... I hate that the graph isn't helpful either since it's a reduced version of the actual pattern

      I am making this now in the same yarn and colorway. I agree that it is way too long and still quite narrow after five rows. It is three times as long as it is wide. It will reach my feet before it covers my hips. I will probably pull it out and redo the starting chain shorter. Anyone know the multiple?

      Mikey also put out video for a rectangular granny afghan in Sept. 2017. I used that pattern and made 2 of the afghans for Christmas . They turned out beautiful, but I used Red Heart Super Saver and Caron One Pound, it was the yarn I had on hand. Also I used a size "K" hook. My afghans came out 50" long and 48" wide. Therefore longer than wide but after all it is supposed to be a rectangle. A rectangle IS longer than it is wide. I also added a border of single crochet in each of the 5 colors I used. I do hope that you finished your afghan. They are so easy to do and turn out beautifully.

      @@TheCrochetCrowd It really was! I had tried another rectangle pattern but it kept ballooning out and becoming round. I did this one, and stayed flat and straight. I love it! Will definitely be using this again. Thanks so much!!!
