Hi friends, I hope you enjoy the video! I really enjoy making continuous rectangles and I know a lot of you do too. Here is an easy way to adapt any of the patterns you see on the channel with this super easy formula. Plus, there is a classic granny rectangle pattern at the end to see an example of how I use the formula. If you'd like to learn how to convert square patterns into rectangles let me know. xx
I love this. Not only have you given us a formula but you also turn your work. I have always done that and agree that it keeps the blanket's shape so it doesn't get wonky and makes it reversible. I also love the way you join with a hdc. This is my new favorite pattern for a rectangular granny. Thank you so much!
A lovely clear video with no distracting music, practical amd understandable advice for those trying out rectangles. Love seeing the the colour change in yarn, your turning your work etc. Thankyou for helping blossoming crocheters all over the world 🏴😄
Finally, someone who holds their yarn and their hook the same way I do! I felt like it was my hands that were moving through this tutorial. Thank you so much for this very useful information. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Thank for your tutorials. You are always so helpful and informative, and, your voice is really pleasant. Appreciate the time you put into your videos. 💜😎🇺🇸
Hello Roz and happy Sunday to you . This tutorial is absolutely great . I look forward to seeing your projects every week . Even though i can master the craft of crocheting there's always something new to learn . You are the best . Miss Indy is having a ball , but Biscuit & lokey ste the BOMBS . Have a great week ahead with them all .
OMG, the cat 🐈 ❤❤❤ Thank you for the great tutorial. I truly enjoyed it. 🌹 The speed is fantastic. Some tutorials start with a bit advanced videos, then they take forever to get through a beginner's strod, even when the tutorial doesn't mention beginner friendly.
Very useful tutorial, my friend😊,👏👏!! Your explanation was so clear rhar anybody could understand it following the instructions. And Indie is lovely!!!💖.thank you, dear! 🌹🧶🌹🧶🙋🏻♀️🇦🇷
Thank you so much. This formula is just what I needed!! I really like this rectangle granny pattern. I'm trying it with a red heart variegated yarn in shades from soft white shading to black. But I don't like the big holes in my grannies so I'm using a 3.5mm hook. So far so good. And yes please tell us about the other patterns, I am learning so many different techniques with you. I appreciate all your help, thank you.
Thank you for this formula and explanation! I appreciate how you explain the basics, along with your tips using the hdc in the last corner, your color changing method, which I'm a big fan of, and have been using now, and the tip about turning the work to make the project reversible and prevent wonkiness! Love your little kitty! Adorable!
Merci tellement pour ces trucs faciles à comprendre et qui nous facilitent la vie! Je cherchais justement une façon de débuter ma couverture rectangulaire ! Vous êtes formidable! Je suis francophone du Canada et je comprends tout! Bravo! 😍
This is so wonderful, yay! I’ve been wanting to make a granny rectangle blanket, and have not been able to get the info on how long to make the starting chain for a bigger blanket. Saving this to a playlist to refer to later. Thanks so much! Btw congrats on the adorable kitten, she looks very happy 😻
I was about to do this formula off of a different video of yours, I've been stressing about making the right sized blanket for weeks, then when I measured the blanket I'm modeling off of to finally start, I found out my blanket actually needed to be a square 😂😂😂 regardless!!! You made a really easy to understand formula and if I ever need it, I know where to go!
Oh damn, that’s a shame. This worked really well , I literally sat with a piece of paper and measured each round to see if it was consistent with how it should be growing (I checked it with the other samples and stitches too) . 💕
Hi Roz, I just luv ur instructions! They are so clear and I luv when you pause for a second on something new. I have wanted do this pattern so now I can. I like when u used the stacked single crochet as well as the half dbl crochet. Ur stitches are so beautiful. I know you use knit pics but is that an acrylic weight or dk? Dk is new to me I’ve always used acrylic -dating myself. When it’s 4 ply I’m thinking all 4 ply is the same thickness & now it’s not. Some people say any 4ply u have is good to use but that’s not true. A dk can be 4ply but crochet different then an acrylic. Am I’m making this too hard? I see most all patterns now use dk. Even articles how to use up ur acrylic. Btw, I bought the Tulip 7 and can’t wait to try it. Thx for all u do for us! Sorry so long😊
Hi Linda - yes all the different weights/plies , yarn types can be confusing. I usually use a worsted yarn that is a weight 4 and it’s made of cotton I believe it’s 10 ply . But that’s for filing purposes. I skis enjoy acrylic and wool yarn depending on the project. Here is an article that I refer to often when I’m not sure. It’s really helpful 💕 theyarnqueen.co.nz/yarn-ply-yarn-weight/?v=7516fd43adaa
You can use it with the pattern at the end of the video or with an existing rectangle pattern. I have several rectangle patterns in a playlist at the end of the video . But if it’s not making sense right now, you can come back to this video later when you have a need for it💕
I love your video no distraction only your clear voice and we can listen (nice voice) But I shared it and my friend is so scared and will not open it there is only a number understood by who one will never know.....no photo or description no indication as to what it's about..... uTube is absolutely uninformative I can't save it either to go through at a later stage when we have loadshedding. We can't trust anything anymore with all the scamming so I don't blame my friend. But how much are you loosing in the end and every uTuber.
I don’t feel I’m losing anything. I appreciate you wanted to share my content with your friend. You can direct her to my channel or just tell her what you learned if you feel she would benefit from the knowledge. Thanks for your input ❤️
Sorry... 🇨🇦 I use the standing double when I need a DC at the beginning of the row/round... (Except the very first round of a circle that uses a magic ring.) I don't like the chain 2 or the stacked single...
For which one? It will depend on the pattern you’re using whether it needs to be an odd number or not. The one I showed at the end of the video was 24 chains like I mentioned using a multiple of 3 👍🏻
Мне нравится ваш узор. но я подумала, что можно связать котиков в шахматном порядке и один ряд с опущенными лапками, а другой - с опущенными хвостами. Как вы думаете, это возможно?
I think you meant this for the cat video? It might be possible , yes. It would involve color changes during the row to make it look like tails and paws from different cats. 💕
Yes! You want to go up a hook size , or as many as you need to get the tension you want. This is also a good thing to do when you make a blanket worked in rows, go up a hook size for the chain and then go back down to the hook size you want for you project . So first example … 5mm hook for the chain , 4 mm for the rest of the blanket . 👍🏻💕
I’m so glad you think it looks good. Biggest tip is finding a hook and yarn size that you feel really comfortable with because that will improve your enjoyment which will then cause you to crochet a lot . Repetition is what helps improve the look of your crochet. At least in my experience ❤️

What about if it's 100cms X 100cms ? ✌️💐
@@ladybunny64 That would be a square shape so you wouldn’t need to create a chain 💕
That is the way I do too.
Hi so my bed is a full size bed and the sizes 54 by 74
54-74=20. So I have to chain until I reach 20 inches right?🌞

Yes! There’s a way to take one large granny square and make slippers so that might be what you’re thinking of. ❤️

Nice video. Just so I understand. If I was doing a cot blanket 120 cm x 140 cm my starting chain would be 20 cm. Is that correct? Thankyou.
That’s it! 👍🏻💕
😊
I prefer the standing dc.
I’m unclear with what you mean since this is about the formula for determining the width of a chain to make a rectangle . Can you elaborate?
Sorry... 🇨🇦 I use the standing double when I need a DC at the beginning of the row/round... (Except the very first round of a circle that uses a magic ring.) I don't like the chain 2 or the stacked single...
What brand of cotton yarn did you use? I like this better than the acrylic
It’s “I love this cotton yarn” from hobby lobby. 💕
I would really like to know how to convert a square pattern to a rectangle
Ok great 💕
Can this be done with only 1 chain space between the clusters for a tighter fabric with smaller holes?
You can do it however you like. It’s all about managing tension. If that works well for you , do it 👍🏻🧶💕
