@@chavito808 No, but I do remember that Roadshow logo on my nanny's 2 disc set of All Aussie Adventures! And that's on my TH-cam channel if you want to check that out! And to let you know, it's in the playlist selection.
I can see how you would think that. The letters "HDD" was printed on the Xbox 360 hard drive on the side of the console, and considering 2005/06 was all about the "High Definition" revolution, it made sense. I came to realize pretty quick that it actually meant "Hard Disk Drive"
I remember putting in a Original Xbox disc (The game was Star Wars Battlefront 2) in my old DVD player, getting thrilled to play until I got the error message and I came out crying extremely loud to my Dad after that.

We didn’t even use it to play HD DVD’s We just used it to watch regular DVD’s because we Barely had any good movies on HD DVD and we bought it at the very end of The HD DVD Era. Last time we used it was in 2013 to watch Mickey Mouse shorts. Nowadays it’s just sitting somewhere in the garage collecting dust since we upgraded to Blu ray
I remember back in the day a friend of mines really had high hopes for the HDDVD 😂 I was always on Blu-Ray side & those Plasma TV's was also my Fav, I really thought Highly of those TV's.
I've seen that warner brothers HD DVDs have layering issues where the data layer is peeling off. I'm happy we have 100 GB 4k blu-rays that are really good in quality if the transfer is done right.
Also interesting to note is that a very few PCs came with internal HD DVD drives! External ones also could play BOTH formats (this might have been later on though and probably via software only), some portable drives can also play BOTH formats; they are expensive though. Not sure if there ever were HD DVD writer drives (or discs) though; perhaps there were? If so I'd think they would have cost a lot. (HD DVDs can sometimes be found for next to nothing these days, it is a shame though that a lot of them don't work properly, if at all, due to the 'disc rot' issue; as I stated before, in my other comment.
You should be able to use the remote to change the volume, (it might even have a mute button); I believe I had this issue when I first purchased an HD DVD Player, some years back. A problem with it these days is the 'disc rot' issue. (Also maybe the settings are set to send the audio out via optical (the bit that shows bitstream etc in the menu?)). If you'd watched the Universal logo a bit longer you'd have seen that there is a difference, it was just fading in/out when you ejected it). The main problem with the format was most of the major studios chose to go for the Blu-ray format instead; some wouldn't even release for HD DVD at all. I did like my player, which I got as it was cheaper than the BR ones on offer. It wasn't a wise purchase though, as the format didn't last and not a lot of items were available in shops. It was interesting that there were discs which had both DVD & HD DVD sides though; this was years before the BR/DVD dual discs there are now.
The slot is used for mini-CD (Don't confuse it with MiniDisc) and mini-DVD. These are smaller variants of each disc format and share the same standards. Most drives can read them, however slot loading drives tend to not load these discs properly. This is why the youtuber gets anxious when inserting a GameCube disc, a modified Mini-DVD, with the Barcode ring at the beginning. Much like the Wii and Wiiu discs.
Most DVD players have a USB port I personally think it’s for a special drive that adds a way to play special discs all the companies have agreed there players and decoders will not play others discs
What should happen when you put a ps1 game in a different device is the soundtrack should play, but with crash bash and some other titles, it will not, like with mlb 2000 or nascar 2001. Revolt, ford racing, tnn hardcore tr are all games that play the soundtrack in a cd player.

I'm surprised the PS1 disc wasn't recognized as an audio CD, as that's what happens when you put PS1 discs in a regular music CD players. Track 1 is the game data and usually the soundtrack was playable on tracks 2 and up.
It's not necessarily true. While its speed is comparable to an old CD-ROM drive, don't forget that it was a drive from 2006. Blu-ray players today load discs faster because of electronics improving over time.
Another thing to note is that HD-DVDs first get detected by a red laser, then switching to Blue. It recognises the two layers, re-adjusts, recognises the layers again then performs a quick seek and finally plays.
