    About This Video:
Someone attempting to fix this iPad Air 2 charging port & totally destroyed the pads on the board. This is common for someone inexperienced with microsoldering. I found about 13 ripped pads. But, if you understand how these circuits work, you'll quickly figure out how to only jump the pads that are critical. Watch to find out if I can fully fix this iPad.

Just did an iPad 5 that had had the charge port replaced on it last year. When I was isolating the battery and lifting up on the motherboard, the whole board came up and the charge port stayed stuck to the frame. Turns out I was looking at 18 torn pads, 15 of which needed to be jumpered. 2 attempts and continuity checks on all pads/test points and we're back in business. I'm trying to keep an open mind on "Prior repair", been there, done that so I have to look at it as a revenue stream. Learning everyday ;)

Oh wow, that's a lot of pads to repair 😅

@@VCCBoardRepairs Yes, the first attempt I left out all that were on the same line that had a connection to the board but already but something wasn't right and it failed the dock flex test. So, "out of an abundance of caution" (LOL) I started all over and did them all except for GND and NC's.

I am sooo so glad you made this video. I literally just destroyed the logic board in my ipad's charging port by ripping the charge port off. It literally took off every pad and I have been searching for the fix. You saved me! I was trying to save a couple hundred dollars but nearly had to buy a new ipad. Phew! that was a close one.

Thanks for the video Jesse. Sometimes with the UV coating I will use an extremely small gauge of needle and apply it to the board.

Jesse, not trying to give you a hard time, but just wanted to say that "redundant pads/traces" in the charging flex are for splitting up the charging current coming from the charger. By not replacing all/most of the pads you are risking all the current traveling through a path that is insufficient for that much current. I understand why you wouldn't want to replace 5 pads if 2 or 3 are connected, but I think it can be risky and could result in later warranty work.

      Solid point!
FWIW, I do offer a lifetime warranty & never had a warranty device come in because of this.

    Hello Jesse!
Can I make you a question about an iPad?
I have an iPad 5 with that same problem.
I replaced the charging port but after that the iPad show me red screen.
Then I try took out the NAND to replace it, but I did fcked up and ripped some pads that have no other connection on the board (are bellow cpu) 😂
After that, I try to get another iPad 5 board as a donor, so I try to pull the information of the NAND and put it in the donor board.
    But the iPad doesn't activate.
    This is not possible, right?
The CPU and NAND information are somehow connected, right?
There is a way to bring that specific iPad serial number to life?
