  • Did you know, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is a 2 layer motherboard sandwich. So when these 2 layers separate, it can cause several issues, like No Service, always Searching and No Signal.
In my last video, I showed how to separate the 2 layers using a heat plate. Watch here: • Can I Add a Sim Slot t...
So now it's time to solder it all back together.
Also, I added a SIM Slot. So let's see if we can get the SIM Slot working!

I understand the level of skills involving this process. I think first try was maybe two soldering contacts fused together. Maybe that's the reason because the main board was in short state. Is super hard to work without the stencil. Keep the good work 👍 new subscriber here .

If you get the right tools, equipment, practice, and not shaky hands, you can do all this; it's straightforward. Of course, it's still a new thing for micro soldering; there might be a college degree in the future for micro soldering. However, it will increase the number of technicians in the industry and lower the general labor pricing, which is terrible. Still, I think it will happen in the next 10-15 years.

Amazing and hard work at the same time. I suppose that you use Sn/bi paste. What temperature did you set the soldering iron? The good news is that there is no short when you connect the layers. Thanks for the video.

    Hey Jesse,
Great stuff, thanks for spending time experimenting with this.
    Questions:
    1. Don’t you need to re-apply a thermal paste on the processor before you put boards together? Original one was brushed off.
    2. While soldering two boards together you pushed top one with a tweezers. Isn’t to risky to have a solder pushed off and create a bridge?
    Thanks!

    • @VCCBoardRepairs
      @VCCBoardRepairs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. I never replace it
      2. No when you hand reball like this, because the solder joints are very small.

its not a failure rate thing apple devices always fail its built in in general but then just look at the component density vs any other device, its drastically over engineered and is almost bound to fail especially as the tolerances of some components are huge.
i work with more samsung than i do apple by easily a rate of 10 to 1 or more yet i still do more board repairs on apple and the ones i do on other devices usually have a direct cause eg clipped off caps on an S21U
also i have never once seen a samsung sandwich board with a layer/reball issue, it just doesnt really happen that often

    • @flamingkillermc2806

Yes, technically you should be able to put a (esim and physically sim) one found in the 13 pros and it should work perfectly. Hugh Jeffreys did a dual physical sim iPhone 12 (found in china version) since the sim cards on the iPhone 12's were upgradeble. And it worked perfectly fine. Also upside is that you get 5G mmwave if you do that on a US models while EU or CA or China editons do not have 5G mmwave for some reason

Is there a real cause to this problem? Other than impacts and things like that since i have seen iphones 11 and 12 smashed to the point of housing on life support but pretty much alive without any problem on the board.

yes, there's a chance a board will get smashed but still work fine.

    • @psp4gamer

@@VCCBoardRepairs But still this seems very random. I have seen the smallest of impacts and then the whole screen cracked (wood table) and the hardest of harsh impacts like on ceramic desks and everything is fine (i guess the marketing was real? In the 13) and destroyed iPhones to the point of glass cracked from both sides, bent, and really working 100%. So i guess a small impact on a relative soft surface won’t do anything?
