Surprised to see how many have similar problems. I’ve got the severe angle thing. Can get it to make contact for a little while by duct taping the cable down. I must have a great cable since I’ve been abusing it this way and it still works. One layer made it much easier to make contact. I am going to try another and see if I can make it somewhat normal. I bought a refurb for the cost of a repair and that one quit charging after 6 wks, I’m waiting to get its replacement . Same problem I bet. Thanks for the video!

The problem with most iPads with a lightning port, is the port inside the housing has broken traces. So although this technique may work for some cases, most have broken internal port. This is funny though because I get so many customers who tell me they tried the electrical tape trick & it didn't work. And I finally found this video that shows this trick lol

Went to the a place to check the problem, if It needed to be fixed they said they might break the screen in the procces and it would cost 200$.. hopefully this works better
I have a iPad Air 2 I’m pretty sure, now I haven’t used it since August of the passing year because of the charger port, now I did do the tape step and it was able to turn on, but it only stays on for a few seconds, and then dies, I am very confusing. type c is more like you have to squeeze the tip as it might be too loose when you put into phone. but don't overdue it, as can damage the tab inside phone. first make sure its all clean in the phone port.
Lightning charging ports are junk apple needs to rework and rethink there shitty lightning charging junk im tired as hell of them coming loose . They make lots of money because they know its a shitty system they created. They know 90% of the people that bring them in to get fixed will just upgrade to a brand new device before putting there phone or ipad in the shop so to speak

I tried tape too stopped working after couple days. I now lay iPad on table plug up charger and put a semi thin book where the cable is plugged in so it pushes on it and charges good lol
Don’t charge it at a certain angle every time and if u do, don’t charge it every night bc it’ll make it worser and worser then it won’t charge it all 😅
Thanks for offering up a possible alternative to an ipad tear down, (ugh),, I ordered a kapton tape assorted widths lot from ebay and am waiting for that to show up,, I have another tip to try,, Use a piece of paper towel to burnish the contacts of the charging cable,, I tried that this morning and it is working, at least well enough to recharge my ipad again,, :-)
Hi and thanks for the tip. Didn’t want to replace the lightning port since it’s solder and I don’t have good micro soldering skills or tools. Instead of electrical tape I used kapton tape just needed to use more than one layer. Works great. Thanks again

Fantastic video to re-affirm ideas that i thought may work but not knowing if it would or without damaging the port for good 👌🏼 I also used one of those little dental brushes - not a toothbrush - but the little sticks with bristles used instead of dental floss, dipped in some distilled white vinegar and gently poked around inside the port and on the lightning connector, immediately dab with a paper towel, dry naturally in fresh air then stuck the electrical tape in with the toothpick - which was GENIUS - and Voila! I went from a depleting 12% upset I couldn’t watch Netflix (other channels available!) in the hot tub to 100% and elated in no time 🤩 Cheers Bro 👊🏼 Checking out your other links later and hope to “buy you a coffee” ☕️ as you just saved me a new iPad 🫶 but more importantly I can turn the hot tub back on 😅

@@uwuhehw no. tape will not conduct any electricity to cause a short. just dont shove it to deep into the port that its affecting any connection to the cable.
It’s not Lint and stuff it’s like completely Broken I Have an IPad Air And the charging part in the iPad is actually bent I am trying to figure out how to repair it cause I will save a lot more money then buying a new one

It’s strange that that shop tries to make you pay for their repair mistake. I would suggest to skip that shop in the future.

Make sure cables set good etc too. Might be bad battery or port needs replacing if won’t charge up

I would suggest using painting trim tape (3M Blue). It does not leave such a sticky mess.

Mine doesn’t even charge at all and not even showing the thin red bar and I have used different cables.

Tape might be too thick. There’s is different kinds. Can try 2-3 layers of clear tape. Some viewers did that 👊

Used Deoxit, alcohol to clean the port....nothing works. Used different cable, no luck. It was charging fine, then not. Confusion Ill try this.
