This was a such a good video to watch. I appreciate it when your cuts might have been off a tad. That is usually what happens to me. I’ll measure and cut and sure enough I will be off on 1 or 2 or the boards. Thank you for the time and effort you put into this build and it was a very good idea to use screws so it will be easier to take down and put away for next year. Way to go Al!!!!
wow...awesome work, your attention to detail is great, you should be proud.thanks for sharing your work, and yes if you ever get around to reading this a year later lol the measurements would be appreciated, sharing this also......
I bought a pattern from The Winfield Collection and it looks almost identical to what you did - just a little bit bigger. However, the way you held it together is so much better because it looks easier to take apart for storage. Anyway, great video. I am about to start my project and I am sure I will be referring back to this video several times.
I never did make a pattern for it although I did find the curly template the other day. If I ever do it again I think I will make a pattern out of it. I did end up putting screws and nuts through it to hold the way it goes together instead of deck screws. Thanks for stopping by.
Very nice! But I wish you shed some light on what the weather was going to wreak on your sleigh!!! Did you seal it with anything? The rain and wet/snow will destroy that into a warped mess worse than a starship at warp speed. I don't even know that you can dare to put plywood anything out in this wet weather. What do you say?
You are so right! I live is a dry place (desert) with little or no snow (nor moisture) so I had the luxury of making it out of plywood. One thing that you could do is use Thompson's WaterSeal, it should help.
just stretch the design. I have seen some that are multi seat like that they just look little longer. You could on the "back side cut a little door out and put it no hinges so they can get in and out. -this message was recently delivered by TH-cam - 10 months later thank you
I store it whole, I have a 3 car garage with a loft so I have some "space" I they reindeer are also stored whole. Post some pictures of your creations you can do it on my Facebook page if you want. facebook.com/OdessaWoodworking/
Thank you. Right now no mass production on them just the one - well there may be a second unfinished one, have you seen it with the reindeer? facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=927859523893613&set=pb.100000087238374.-2207520000.1503874381.&type=3&size=2048%2C1536
+Larry Cereghino they are inch and 1/4 but looking back, I should have used wood screws since when I took it apart I had to pound on it and some of the staples came loose. So use wood screws instead!!!
I really enjoyed making it. I need to get back to more projects like this, lately I have been building models on my twitch channel. www.twitch.tv/kilroy79763

How beautiful!
Thanks maybe ill get some more reindeer made.
Excellent job - I'd recommend adding some green and gold to the overall design, though.
Good idead...if I were to ever do another I might just do that, at least some gold. Just saw this TH-cam issue I guess

I store it whole, I have a 3 car garage with a loft so I have some "space" I they reindeer are also stored whole. Post some pictures of your creations you can do it on my Facebook page if you want. facebook.com/OdessaWoodworking/

Hi Al, This video was very helpful, especially on how to join the 2 sides. Was this sleigh made from one sheet of plywood?
+Rosemary Barnes I am glad you liked it, Yes it was one whole sheet of plywood.
How many sheets of plywood were used? Do you have the size of your template? Great job!
I think it was one sheet of plywood
what size staples are you using
+Larry Cereghino they are inch and 1/4 but looking back, I should have used wood screws since when I took it apart I had to pound on it and some of the staples came loose. So use wood screws instead!!!
