Absolutely!! When I first subscribed I was worried it was all going to be wood/resin carvings of animals. And don't get me wrong I still watched them all, and.i will continue to, but as an artist myself, I love the use of new mediums in forms they normally don't take. Mainly the tire sculptures! I love multimedium art, and one of my favorite pieces I've done is actually a very large American flag I made from shiny new and old oxidized US pennies. Because how often do you see pennies framed on a wall?
So awesome you still wore the maid outfit lol. The trophy came out great! I personally like the epoxy and wood sculptures a bit more just because it adds so much more depth and options with mixing wood types and cuts. Sharks are my favorite animals too, so definitely can't wait to see what you do!
I'd just like to say the addition of the leather seams in the football took it from a football shaped carving to a carving of a football! That small detail really brought it to life, and grounded it in reality.
Agree with previous comment. I would never tell an artist what to make! Love it all. What’s most interesting is to see how, when your materials “fail” you, how you adjust the process. As artists, we all know what those challenges are like and we all solve them in clever and surprising ways.
A couple of things that would help tremendously with the vibration on the lathe: having it on a more substantial base the fact that there's an open space under the table allows the amount of vibration to increase over time. But the main issue is it doesn't have a speed control! That would scare the crap out of me! Reducing or increasing the speed can have a huge effect on the amount of vibration.
@@BMSculptures That lathe _does_ have some (rudmentary) speed control. @7:35 we can see a stepped pulley set up. If you change the pulley that the belt is on, then it will change the speed that the spindle turns at. That one looks like it has only 4 settings, and such systems are a pain to actually change, but it does have some degree of adjustment. The setting it's on at that timestamp is '3 of 4' - I'm not sure if that's the second fastest or second slowest, but unless you changed that, then there potentially was either one or two steps slower that that lathe could have gone. You may well have used that (and it didn't make the edit; which would make sense, it's not a lathe how to after all!), but thought I add that for others that might be in a similar situation.
You have such great tools. Fix that, or replace it. That lathe is a time bomb. I wouldn’t put a project on it, until that is worked out. Your product is only as good as your tools.
Honestly the blank may have been off centered a bit too. Which isn’t a huge problem if it’s in the chuck correctly and you work it down quickly. But if he was going to do a lot of projects on the lathe. Too many off centered projects can put stress on the chuck which is no bueno.
The trick to molding the hand is to put part of a full size nerf ball in the bottom of the bucket and pour a thin layer of alginate. When it sets you can perfectly place your hand around it.
I love that you use both types of sculptures not just one, thats what I love most about your channel. The varitey is beyond awesome 😊 Love the trophy very much. Great job.
Well done big man! I admire how you didn't give up on that shaky lathe and eventually conquered it. Oh yeah, definitely go with the solid log for your great white shark. Can't wait to see it.
Hey man, i have been watching your videos for a few years and only recently subscribed, I like watching all your epoxy and wood sculptures, in my opinion if you are enjoying the work then that's what i will enjoy most, nothing worse than a forced "fun" video. keep up the good work
I love your sculptures, they are always so creative! For the shark idea, i prefer the slab stone walnut, and it would be cool if you use the irregular side for the shape of the tail!
Dude, everything you do is dope, I'm here for the art. I love your creativity and versatility.., the medium is not important.... . You got a great imagination, for the viewer its rewarding enough to watch each piece evolve from scraps and transform into something beautiful that everyone can relate to. Its not to often you get to see someone take a rubber tire and bring it to life, that's impressive right there. I'll make it easy for you..., go with whatever speaks to you.
Great Looking Trophy!!! (And nice legs in the Maid Outfit) For your next project (the SHARK), I suggest using the slabs, but layer a lighter or dark wood between the slabs.
I understand your fears when it comes to lath work. Back in the 60s a highschool student had glued up some wood to turn into a bowl. He too had misgivings and had put on a motorcycle helmet. But to no avail, the pieces of wood he'd glued together came apart at one point. Part of this came apart and sliced through the helmet and the top of his skull. It was said that the teacher lost it and tried scooping up the boy's brains and tried to put them back in. It affected him so bad, he ceased teaching woodshop and as far as I know never went into that area of the school ever again. So you're standing back and watching it vibrate is very understandable.
I personally love both your works. Wood/Epoxy and 100% wood. I think you're doing a wonderfull job, its a calming exeperience to watch your work grow. Keep both things coming.
I expected to pretty much jump to the end and see the finished product, but I never found a dull spot to skip! This turned out awesome, and I love the pace of the video.
Honestly any of your mixed media sculptures are more entertaining to watch. Not just the resin and the wood sculpture but also your Good Year mascots you do are really fun to watch. When its just wood sculptures its more impressive than anything.
Wow, I absolutely love watching your epoxy/wood sculptures come to life! They're definitely my favorite, but honestly, all of your videos are so mesmerizing to watch. It's incredible to see the process and the stunning finishes of all your art pieces. Keep up the amazing work!
I love both options of wood and resin and pure wood as each have their own fun mix to what they can make. I also remember making a hand for a project out of plaster before, though I've made one out of ceramic as well (though a bit bigger than a real one)
This is the best vid so far ive seen cause you simply does both forfeits, not only that but youre open that youre learning every time which is a good thing, its a waste of a day if you dont learn one thing, either way the end trophie is stunning, keep up the good work and vids cant wait to see more
I enjoy watching the resin and wood due to the different materials means different tools used , different lessons found out and i just like the contrast resin brings out against wood
I love the wood and epoxy ones, the combination is stunning, but the variety of sculptures you create is what really keeps me coming back for more! Keep it up buddy! Do what YOU wanna do, we'll watch!
i love the variety in your sculptures, both solid wood and epoxy, epoxy looks amazing for some pieces and some pieces look even better with just pure wood
This video is great! Loved the humor (even when doing the ad!). The trophy is great and it’s awesome that you went ahead with the maid outfit as well! One of the more fun wood working videos I’ve seen.
This one-of-a-kind trophy is something every guy's club needs. My father played pool with his mates every week ("The Boys' Night Out" eh, it stuck). Their trophy was an autographed framed photo of Minnesota Fats, and on the back the victor put their name and the year they won the tournament (in light pencil), and got to hang it up in their 'mancave' so long as they kept winning. The day I played pool well-enough to compete with them, my father got me my own pool cue as a sign of recognition and it's my most prized possession. The photograph was buried with my father as it was his originally.
The variety is what brings me back. I definitely enjoy the solid wood form videos the most but the epoxy videos are closer to reality for me as a novice woodworker as well,
The epoxy and wood, especialy the ones with a large peices of wood elements and purely epoxy elemtns are my fave. I like seeing how you incorporate the join between 2 mediums in the sculpture
I genuinely don't mind what you sculpt, or what you sculpt with in truth, I just love seeing you sculpt! Loved the final trophy! Really, really cool! God bless you. Have a great week!
I like the epoxy wood sculptures and they are really satisfying, but the t-rex sculpture was the first of your videos that i saw and by far that was my favourite video and sculpture. :)
LOG OR SLAB for the GREAT WHITE SHARK!??
Log please!
I'd like to see both. Split the log and insert one slab layer.
LOG!!
Log!
Log babyyyyy
Honestly, the variety of sculptures is one of the reasons I keep watching your videos! Keep them coming!

I’m glad you do both, I enjoy the variety
Agreed. The variety is key for me, but I’ll watch every video you put up, so I’d say do what you enjoy and we’ll watch along
that is awesome! thank you for the insights!
Glad you like them! More to come- especially this next one!
I love how the fact that you have footage of you holding the sign means you decided in the end to do both options
i didn't even know they MADE maid costumes in his size!

That's comittming to the joke. Just brilliant, and hilarious. Well done.
Nope, that was just AI generated for the joke. Like he said, he would never do that. Yup, AI generated joke, he didn't do that in public.
Plaster ,tiers ,foam, epoxy, wood ,your sculpture and ideas are amazing
Mix everything ❤
Thank you!

Sharks are my favorite animals too, so definitely can't wait to see what you do!
A shark with slightly Black toned epoxy would Look amazing. But no matter what You do it will Look amazing !!!!
1. I love both types of sculptures.
2. For the shark, I like the idea of using the single piece.
3. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
He said great white shark, are you good? 😂
I agree on all points!
100%
@@Moistfersure Because a great white shark isn't a shark?...
@SomeDudeOnline she said whale, and changed it after my comment 😂
Spend all that time making it just so in the end his friends would be like "That's cool and all, but wearing the maid outfit is better."
Piss poor mates😊
I'd just like to say the addition of the leather seams in the football took it from a football shaped carving to a carving of a football! That small detail really brought it to life, and grounded it in reality.
Totally agree! Thanks Blake
0:43 the fact someone actually called out “you suck” tho XD
