I had just got home with the wife and saw the police leaving our apartment building. Again our upstairs neighbor was annoying everyone with excessively loud music vibrating through the walls and ceilings. As soon as the police left, the loud music started again. So her first 2 albums are considered classics and this one is considered an an 80's album and kinda dismissed by many. This song in particular sounds very much like the 80's with all the synth laid onto it. But this is my favorite album from her - and this song, and especially the video that accompanies it - are just really cool. There are so many songs on this album that sound so personal because of that raspy voice, and the true feeling that comes out of her, it transcends whatever critics may say. This song may not have the same emotional heft, but it still sounds like she means every word that comes out of her mouth. I'm amazed at the young(er) people who comment on her videos because it solidifies what many of us have known for years...a true and genuine talent being discovered over and over again!
Yeah I think part of the issue is the production is more dated than her previous two albums. Bella Donna is very acoustic homespun rock and more associated with her earlier FM sound, and those Prince synths on The Wild Heart were a great touch but not overpowering. I remember this album being more mid80s synth and effects heavy and the percussion sounded more like a drum machine than a studio drummer. Not saying thats a bad thing but I kinda get why it isn’t as well remembered overall. I know people who call this their favorite though and I agree she had some really interesting songs on this one especially the non-singles.
I was just out of high school when this went into heavy rotation on MTV. I haven't seen it in years although I have always listened to her albums to this day. The thing I love about this video: It's SO 80's visually and sonically, but this holds up as it captures her song-writing, attitude and of course, that face.
The 80's in all it brilliance, the classic sounds , this is a favourite , a kind of panicked urgency in the vocal almost, and well, just Stevie on fire. ( plus that guitar solo )

Edge Of Seventeen has been one of my favorite songs for a very long time, and I finally started listening to Stevie's other songs last night. Purely magical.
Saw her for the first time in December 2023, awesome sold-out concert, 75 years old at the time and still came out and rocked the house for two hours.

At the very least, we wanted to BE her. :) Young women in the 80's were blessed to have female rock models like Stevie...and Pat Benetar, Chrissie Hynde, Ann Wilson, Joan Jett just to name a few. But Stevie will always hold a special place in my heart!

I had just got home with the wife and saw the police leaving our apartment building. Again our upstairs neighbor was annoying everyone with excessively loud music vibrating through the walls and ceilings. As soon as the police left, the loud music started again. Soooo I put on Stevie Nicks “I Can’t Wait” at about 9 & 1/2 volume for the first 30 seconds and then turned it off. You could have heard a pin drop! It was quiet the rest of the night 😌

What a voice and what a woman, stevie you still Rock .2022 and still love her music.
So her first 2 albums are considered classics and this one is considered an an 80's album and kinda dismissed by many. This song in particular sounds very much like the 80's with all the synth laid onto it. But this is my favorite album from her - and this song, and especially the video that accompanies it - are just really cool. There are so many songs on this album that sound so personal because of that raspy voice, and the true feeling that comes out of her, it transcends whatever critics may say. This song may not have the same emotional heft, but it still sounds like she means every word that comes out of her mouth. I'm amazed at the young(er) people who comment on her videos because it solidifies what many of us have known for years...a true and genuine talent being discovered over and over again!
Yeah I think part of the issue is the production is more dated than her previous two albums. Bella Donna is very acoustic homespun rock and more associated with her earlier FM sound, and those Prince synths on The Wild Heart were a great touch but not overpowering. I remember this album being more mid80s synth and effects heavy and the percussion sounded more like a drum machine than a studio drummer. Not saying thats a bad thing but I kinda get why it isn’t as well remembered overall. I know people who call this their favorite though and I agree she had some really interesting songs on this one especially the non-singles.

I was just out of high school when this went into heavy rotation on MTV. I haven't seen it in years although I have always listened to her albums to this day.
The thing I love about this video: It's SO 80's visually and sonically, but this holds up as it captures her song-writing, attitude and of course, that face.
