Yeah they’re getting crazy! There still has to be deals out there somewhere though. I got my price on this one basically because it was the KBB value. A lot of sellers may just look at that and not do any more research.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures thata crazy. That car would go for 20k rn. With that mileage. Everything im finding in southern ca is 200kplus for 15k n up.
Great build l, just purchased an 04 4runner and want to build it very similar to your setup. I definitely share the same tire philosophy you have exercised on this build. Great Job!
You got really good deals on your GX purchases.. I like your channel it’s a good guideline for me & my Gx 470 it’s a 2007 i installed a 4 inch lift so far. I’m in California and frequently drive to Reno NV as well as Lake Tahoe Ca
I like my RTT, just need to use it more. Hard with a 17 month old at home. Check my more recent vids to see my rear spare tire swing out for my rear bumper setup. If anything I’d cut out my hitch and get a rear tube bumper but I’m fine with what I got now.
Are you still happy with your Damello bumper? The one you bought without the bull bar is in stock and I’m sure thinking of pulling the trigger. I bought the victory 4x4 rear bumper but I don’t want to wait another 3 months for a bumper!
Thank you all for all the info, my moonroof has been stuck for the past year open position. Any suggestions or workshops? I’m in the Bay Area, Any help is great and appreciate it.
I’ve had a very different experience with falkens. I’ve never had a weaker tire. I’ve popped them, had mesquite thorns puncture them, and have terrible traction compared to my k02s I had before. I see why they are cheaper than BFGs
@@tracereed7457 oh wow 10 ply should be Load E rated. Those things were almost as heavy as the load D 35s I run right now lol Man, sorry you had a bad experience with them. I only had them for 15k miles but I put them thru some tough stuff. Maybe different terrain here in so cal is more favorable for longevity or something. Either way, can’t go wrong with a KO2
Ultimately, I don’t think there is a lot of headroom for this engine without forced induction. Plus, it’s really not what this car is about. Slow and steady reliability is just fine for me.
03 is still a great car but I believe he has a 2006 gx. I prefer the 06 because its more modern I paid 7k for my 06 gx470 it has 140k on it. it was a steal!!
It’s an ‘04. I prefer the pre-VVT ones for simplicity but you can’t go wrong from ‘03-‘09. A GX470 with 89k miles in otherwise good condition (paint, suspension, brakes in good shape) and with a recent timing belt service may fetch 10k. Check on those items though. You may be able to negotiate if they haven’t done the timing belt service. They might be trying to get rid of the car because the timing belt service is due every 90k miles.
That’s for sure. Nope not much mud here in so cal but I’ve definitely encountered a bit of mud on the trail and the tires do pretty well for an A/T. If you want to go legit mudding I would definitely get some M/Ts.
It would be great to get a few of these cheap, and have one for daily and one to off road. It’s senseless to use one for both. The prices are very high here, but jumps in gas prices should make them easier to deal down.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures thanks so much for the quick reply. I’m looking at hitch mounts now. Detours of Maine is cheapest and looks really well made but long lead times.
On the third setting for the Eibach Kit, I think it’s supposed to be just over 3” in the front. Rear is like 2.5” or something. No rubbing issues in the rear at all, even with Spidertrax 1.75” spacers. Front: Slight rubbing at full lock on the body mount with stock alignment settings but I had my alignment guy jam the caster to the max and that brought the tires forward enough to fully clear the BM. No rubbing at all now. And the “return to center” effect is much more powerful now and it tracks much straighter on the highway.
Haha yeah it was good timing on the buy for sure… but everything snowballed from here lol so probably we’ll over 10-15k in mods. I really need to do an update video.
Bro what? The only non-budget thing is the front bumper setup. Roof basket $180 vs like 1k normally, DIY sleeping platform/storage was just the cost of wood and carpet, and I used stock wheels with spacers. Eibach lift $810. These are all really cost-effective mods. All you really need for off road function is the tires and lift. Total of like 16-1700 if you DIY. Which I show on the channel
@@lexus_offroad_adventures budget roof rocks are like 80 second hand .. hahaha 180 sill non- budget but I guess the word budget has different meanings for different people.. like a budget car for a millionee could be a 2021 land cruiser 😅🤣
Super jelly of the price you payed for both of your GX. Prices just keep climbing now!

Thanks for doing the break down of all the prices, helping creating a plan for mine that I just got
Thanks for watching! Yeah I was hoping this vid would help some people plan their builds. Cheers
Love your videos dude. Just bought my 2009 GX470, and your videos have helped me out a ton!
Woohoo! 🙌 Thanks for watching. Really appreciate it.
How much did you pay for it?... miles?
Nice build so far. $6.5k for 145,xxx is not bad. I can’t find a Gx470 in CA right now for under $10k.
Yeah the market is much different now than it was in June. GL with your search!
same boat have been looking for months
How many fricking times do you have to tell us about the damn clear coat?
great job dude ....would you get a different rtt? how about a rear bumper ? overall ....great vid

Looking to get a 2nd gen (2010-2013) gx460 after college! The amount of content I’m going to have for modifying that car is absolutely phenomenal!
Love 460s too!
Great mods 👍. There is no better platform for the price luxury and reliability in my books 📚
Thanks! Agreed
6700 in my neck of the woods prices much higher ct.

The Demello bumper has held up like a beast. Great mounting system, solid hardware, good powder coat.

I can only confirm our SoCal GX wizards are Miyaki Motorsports. Not sure about the Bay unfortunately
Just got my 2007 GX and getting it ready for the Utah desert

I had 93k miles on a set of KO2s and I’m having to replace the falkens because every time I off road I have a flat

Tanks don’t use tires.
It's ridiculous trying to find one of these in Southern California. 2004 models are between $13k and $20k
Yeah prices are getting bonkers rn. The guy I bought this one from just stuck with KBB value in June and I paid him exactly his asking price.
I got my 2007 for 13 from a Lexus dealer.

How are the 255’s for on road comfort?

Do you run full synthetic in tour GXs? Just picked up an 05 with 190k miles. From service history it looks like it’s had both full and blend...
I always run synthetic Amsoil. But any synthetic with the API Certification seal is great
Yea buddy looking prime .
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Where you get them at such a good price?
The year 2020 😪
But they were both found in Southern California
how many miles did it have when you bought it?
155k
Woah I came in thinking 10k in mods but bro you paid 10k for EVERYTHING I’m mad hating you lucky duck🤣

Gx470 vs lx470 ?
GX470= (‘03-‘09) Toyota (LC)Prado 120 chassis
LX470= Land Cruiser 100 chassis (bigger)
Muy bueno
Look into the lens of your camera, not at yourself.
Stop liking your own comments 🤣
Is this car ok for women?
Yes I bought one for my wife as well!
"The China Special" lol.
4k for a 150k miles GX470, you stole it. I'm looking at one now and the cheapest I can get I'd 9500 with 213k miles. Nice find
