I sit on one of those bikes every time I'm at my local dealership. I've ridden sport and dual sport for seven years now, and I still find those M109's as fascinating as I did the first time I saw one. It's the only cruiser I've ever found aesthetically pleasing. Super neat looking, and that torque is just massive compared to anything else I've ridden.
I have this bike, I love it, I bought it and as it is blacked out, I thought the chrome indicators were out of place, so I have changed them to sleek black LED ones. People that have one or been on one will tell you, the video does not really show you how wide these bikes are, sit in a chair spread your legs as far as you can comfortably.......that's how wide it is.....I love it. I will never sell it. ......... Great review.
Michael nicolle I just picked up the '16 version of the bike he's on. Can you pass on the info for the black LEDs you found? I think the chrome stalks are out of place too. I'd like to eventually replace them.
I have this bike. I hate it. The absolute worst bike I’ve ever ridden. An absolute pig in the fact the 109cc won’t get out of its own way. Also who puts the key next to the hot fricking cylinder? An absolute idiot that’s who. This gets a 2/10 rating. Can’t wait to sell this mess.
I got to demo a M109R earlier this year as well. I gotta say, if you like metric cruisers, this thing should be on your short list. Makes tractor like power up to 3500 RPM, flattens a bit until 5500, and then pulls REAL hard again on top. It will really surprise you in a good way. Handles very nicely for being as large as it is. Definitely needs an exhaust system, the stock pipes sound annoying and really betray a great motor.
I agree with Michael nicolle ... The photos and videos don't do this bike justice and they are much bigger than you'd believe. You have to see or ride them in person. I just bought a 2014 M109R BOSS with only 435 miles on it! I was looking at the Vrod and Hammer and decided on this beast. The first thing to go on the bike was the chrome turn signals as it just threw everything off. Black LEDs look much better. The torque on this thing is UNREAL! LOVE IT! Plan to hang onto this black n yellow beast for awhile!
I’m a sport bike rider going to cruisers and this bike has had my eye for quite a while. I started on an m50 boulevard and then went to sport bikes and now I wanna come back home lol.
Been really looking at driveshaft driven motorcycles and this thing has seriously caught my eye. Can’t wait to actually check one out when I’m back in America
Great review Bryan! I genuinely enjoy your bike reviews as they cover the areas most riders care about. Looking forward to more bike reviews from the AIMexpo.
I have a burple '06 myself. Love it. I like seeing the different in 11 years. Wish I had a gear indicator, and new tach location is different and a cleaner install.
My '06 Burple was stolen in 2010 and it took me a while to get back on 2 wheels, but I'm BACK. Presently the owner of a blue 2014 Honda Valkyrie W/Low Jack AND an alarm system...this time around. Loved the 9, but needed a change of pace!!!
Newish rider and love my Africa Twin but i found a 2009 109r silver 8,000km for about 6 grand cad and i am so close to getting it..Oh what a great looking bike to customize...I just want...
This have been my dream bike for a couple years now, great to see a review on it!! I rode it at a Arizona Bike Fest! The route they took is on sucked so I couldn’t get above 45. I did not like how forward swept the pegs were since I’m riding a sports bike now. The 2019 Triumph Rocket III has really caught my attention!! The pegs are more in a neutral position also!! If you get a chance, review the new Rocket III
great bike, I'm on my second after a couple of years on a Diavel I had to renew my relationship with a new M109R. Disappointed that none of the reviews seem to know about 5th gear, great for highway cruising
Watched this video and your video for the Yamaha Raider as I am considering both. The one thing I did note watching both is your observation of the M109 vibration, the transmission clunk, the kickout when you made one of those first turns and lack of throttle input to get it moving. With the Raider you seemed to like the positioning, the smoothness the torque, the lack of vibration, the suspension was more forgiving and most notably if you were considering a purchase the Raider would be on the list. Both bikes seem to have a learning curve for making turns as both bikes seem to need to be persuaded to turn. Although, that one aspect seemed to be more apparent with the M109 in almost all the videos I have seen. Having an Suzuki Intruder liquid cooled in the past I had one complaint that I hoped Suzuki addressed. It too had some vibration that was apparent at lower rpms. And on two occasions my intruder left me stranded because the radiator sprung leaks at the attachment post to the frame. I am positive that was due to the vibration and the weight of the radiator vs 4 posts attaching it to the frame. Loved the bike..but was not impressed with it happening twice on two different posts. Luckily both times I was in the city and not on a road trip. Your videos have played a big part in helping me choose my next bike which will most likely be the Yamaha Raider. Thanks for the informative honest work.
I keep asking myself whats the difference between the older ones and these new ones. At first i thought technology but now im like "there is no difference." I see guys all the time with 06s and such talking about how awesome they are still in 2023
Wait a minute, you're that cigar guy!!! took me a while but I recognized your voice. Didn't know you had a second channel. Your bike reviews are very similar to your cigar reviews. Thumbs up!
I have a white 07. I'll never sell it. Bought it when it was new and it still looks new. Had it up to 150mph several times and it still wanted to do more. The newer ones have a gear indicator but mine doesn't. Wish it did but that's ok. Total chick magnet but didn't buy it for that. I just wanted the power and its got plenty
Kinny Bingman I've got the exact same bike year and color absolutely love it. I bought it a year ago with only 4K miles on it an older guy had it and just let it sit in his garage
Wanna add the style attracts so much attention from other riders at bike events. I love mine! I need to do a better review with 3rd person shots of riding...
I enjoyed your review/video blog of the m109. I have bought two of these bikes and they fit my style very well. I agree with your comments about the bike and that is one reason I like your reviews, they seem to be spot on for me. I have a small youtube channel, not b/c I want it to explode with subs or likes, but b/c I just enjoy doing it when I have time. Keep on rockin.
I was waiting for a full throttle and have feel of torque it never came, strange driver - in this way it comes in its right element and the most selling point about this bike.
Great bike, i have a 09 c109r and i love it, its a bit toned down however i added a custom tune, K&N filters and exhaust, so now i have it all, quiet just cruising but when i get on it, see ya later Harley, Ha. Good work Bryan keep em coming :D
Great HD video, thanks for the post. I never get tired of this bike. I have a '14 BOSS (mostly black with yellow trim and mostly yellow tank. There is veritably nothing about the bike I don't love. I'd rather the speedo be up above the bars but that's about it. I switched out the mirrors for sythe's and went with black LED indicators to better match the bike. Like this guy doing the review, I will eventually be in Florida to enjoy year-round riding.
Had one a year now.. Good points.. great looking ,big rear tyre, rides lovely, handles well for a big bike no high speed shudder like HD, being a suzuki reliable, cheap insurance. Bad points. No ABS , speedo and rev counter in wrong position, very bumpy due to drive shaft.
I ride an 18 109BOSS . It’s very quick and can get you in trouble. The engine hates anything below 2500 rpm .60-65 mph cruising is better done in fourth gear. The transmission is fine as long as you bump it solidly into gears. No wimpy shifts. Should you need more sound and character put an aftermarket exhaust on.
If you don’t own an m109r and are thinking of buying one just do it, you won’t be sorry. I have risen sports bikes all my life and didn’t want a cruiser until I’m old but what got me is it looks sporty and is very fast. I bought one 2 weeks ago and i ride it hard every ride. I race my son on his sports bike and beat him every time. If you want sporty and fast then buy it.
I just picked up a used 2023 Blue Boss. You mentioned OLD. My guess you’re around 50 +/- 5. I’m 71. My son not a bike rider. Probably better off. Just finished the break-in period. 1000mls. Still testing…. Enjoy.
You touch on all the details of this bike very nicely, they have a 2006 & a 2009 M109R here in my dealer. Do you think the transmission is better on the 2009. It’s a $2000 price difference.
Own one, break it in hard. Don't pussy it. Mine seemed sluggish till about 4000km. Like it didn't want to Rev out past 5500. Rpm. Then all of a sudden it wanted to Rev to 6200 ... now it just whacks the throttle right in to 7200 red line. It's a rocket
How tall are you and what is your inseam vs the seat height? I'm 5'8" and with a 30" inseam, I'm a little concerned about getting out of bad parking situations.
Brendon West, I will start with saying, I love this bike. Had mine for a little over a year now (identical to the one in this video, even same color) and can’t tell you how much I enjoy this bike. I am looking at another bike to add to the stable because this one is a little cumbersome as a daily commuter and around town. It is very stable and controllable if you mind yourself. It really is heavy and wants to go straight so cornering is cumbersome at times. As a first bike I would pass. I would recommend something a little lighter and more maneuverable for a learner. I’ve been riding on roads about 30 years now and this bike does take some finesse to ride. I owned a C90T prior to this one and would say if you look at the M model in the 50 or 90 size may be a better option to start on.
question: does this make sense to you: jumping from a '14 night rod special to a '17 m109r, to avoid the huge costs of maintenance? and how different would they be? (i have the impression they'll be quite similar, but it seems the m109r will offer a bit more of comfort to the passenger, due to its rear suspension.)
The vrod has mechanical lifters that require adjusting. Note that due to tight clearance with the frame you basically have to drop the engine about an inch to adjust the valves. Service techs at my dealer hate them due to the difficulty of doing maintenance.
Hermes A. Borges Do it! I considered a vrod for a long time but seeing the mechanical costs that people are having, I'm settling for the 109. More power, comfort, low ruining costs etc etc...
I had to jump in here when i saw the guy asking about maintanence. Guy sèems to believe suzuki or any other big dealer are cheap on service. I got a dr650. Ancient technology machine. Full service at the suzuki dealer is 425. Thats if nothing like valve adjustment or something like that isnt involved. Its like 600 with valve adjustments. Glad i got a maintanence package. Used the shit outta that plan. Warning u man. The myth of japanese bikes being cheap to run are not true. People need to stop lying about that. All big dealers are expensive now. Mom and pop shops are ur best bet to save a few bucks. Although if u got a warranty u might be stuck with dealer till warranty expires. Also japanese parts are expensive as hell to. Stop lying.
John Simion it stops quicker and better feel than my VROD muscle abs with brembo's!!! I know because I owned a 2014 M109r New then traded in for a new 2016 VROD MUSCLE it pulls away from M109r but only after 60 and you gotta catch him first because they are quick off the line
All of the Harley references this guy doing the video makes are completely inaccurate. That bike doesn't feel like a V-Rod at all the V-Rod is tiny compared to this bike and the V-Rod handlebars are farther backwards towards you and the pegs are farther back and its way skinnier. The handlebars on the M109 are not all that far forward and I actually prefer them to be more forward than stock. Same with the foot pegs.. and I'm only 5'9"
fuel injection and computers on a motorcycle guarantee it's lack of longevity. if you are one to buy a bike because you plan on keeping it then odds are any of the newer bikes won't fit the bill. smooth and refined is nice but like the reviewer said..."it's mechanical". all of the bikes i have tried out over the past five years have lacked what one would term"soul". it's not that it's a bad thing and the plug and play nature of these later model rides is right down most modern riders alley,as it were. old school folks(pre-fuel injection riders) though won't find the same feel or experience from these bikes in cruiser or sport trim. i find it a bit disappointing that like cars today...bikes are becoming homogeneous in nature and the experience of riding(as well as that of driving cars)is lacking because of it. i imagine it is...after all.....a matter of preference of experience at the end of the day. and to those who think i may be a harley rider....nope! '84 honda vf1100s/ '84 rz350 kr replica/'77 kz1000 sit in my shop and all three get ridden regularly :-) no matter what your preference though...a day on two wheels beats out a day on four anytime!
66 hp at 4800 rpm, 84 ft - lbs at 2800 rpm, weight 344kg 758ibs, it's really not as powerful as you are making out. The worlds slowest test ride and dull.
I sit on one of those bikes every time I'm at my local dealership. Michael nicolle I'm always going to Mancuso to sit on them and really thinking of getting one. Hands down my favorite cruiser.
Michael nicolle I just picked up the '16 version of the bike he's on. Can you pass on the info for the black LEDs you found? I think the chrome stalks are out of place too. I'd like to eventually replace them.
Hey! Link the indicators please! Thanks:)
you might be able to power coat blinkers!!!!
I have this bike. I hate it. The absolute worst bike I’ve ever ridden. An absolute pig in the fact the 109cc won’t get out of its own way. Also who puts the key next to the hot fricking cylinder? An absolute idiot that’s who. This gets a 2/10 rating. Can’t wait to sell this mess.

bought this bike a week ago - I must say - you gave a spot on review !
You know, I'm not really a Suzuki fan, or a cruiser fan at that.. but this thing.. I wouldn't mind riding it at all. :)
WoWKazo
Wow we appreciate that.. Suzuki appreciate that.. and all the cruiser gods appreciate that.. thank you for not minding riding it.
It’s like a V8 muscle car. Looks awesome, sucks down fuel and has a big engine. This is something I would want when I’m older and I have money.
New only 15,000

Did you hold on to it?
-"It feels like a big... sofa."
SOLD! :|
Good review but! I hate when every comparison is to a Harley. HD is no longer the "standard". They're falling behind
Eduardo Bonani yes
I’m a sport bike rider going to cruisers and this bike has had my eye for quite a while. I started on an m50 boulevard and then went to sport bikes and now I wanna come back home lol.

Great looking bike. The back tire looks like a ZO6 vette
.
i just bought a
2013 boulevard
w/ just over 13,000
i’m glad i watched
this video
before riding it
today’s date is

Nice review, helped me pull the trigger on one of these, thanks 👍
A very accurate review. I own the Yellow 2014 B.O.S.S. M109, and love it.
I have the 07 version, and I see it hasn't changed much. More refined now, and that's not a bad thing.
How is the 07? I plan on buying one at the end of the year for 3k
I keep asking myself whats the difference between the older ones and these new ones. At first i thought technology but now im like "there is no difference." I see guys all the time with 06s and such talking about how awesome they are still in 2023
Good review. Not a bike for everyone but Suzuki builds bikes to ride, not look at. Its big but not a parade float.
Anthony Butera That's a matter of opinion tho as looks is subjective, I love the look of suzukis!
Wait a minute, you're that cigar guy!!! took me a while but I recognized your voice. Didn't know you had a second channel. Your bike reviews are very similar to your cigar reviews. Thumbs up!

The Triumph Rocket 3 is actually the largest production engine at 2.3L
This bike is mind blowing... Simply mind blowing..
I was waiting for a full throttle and have feel of torque it never came, strange driver - in this way it comes in its right element and the most selling point about this bike.
Best review, rich in detail and very objective.
Great bike, i have a 09 c109r and i love it, its a bit toned down however i added a custom tune, K&N filters and exhaust, so now i have it all, quiet just cruising but when i get on it, see ya later Harley, Ha. Good work Bryan keep em coming :D
Is 09 year model also have second gear problem? Or it is common for previous years?
Excellent review! What's the top speed? How is passing from 80 mph on? Wyoming Interstate speed limits are 80mph & lots of big rigs to pass.
I’d like to know also
Kinny Bingman did a comment a little ways up.
He claims 150mph will legs left.
HTH
Great HD video, thanks for the post. I never get tired of this bike. I have a '14 BOSS (mostly black with yellow trim and mostly yellow tank. There is veritably nothing about the bike I don't love. niiiiiiiiiiiice review dude. I'm going to research this one more!
that thing looks beast in the matte grey 👍
Temporary Citizen And Matte Black
Had one a year now..
Good points.. great looking ,big rear tyre, rides lovely, handles well for a big bike no high speed shudder like HD, being a suzuki reliable, cheap insurance.
Bad points. No ABS , speedo and rev counter in wrong position, very bumpy due to drive shaft.
One big girl i wouldn't mind to ride. This or the Raider.
Saw a guy do a rolling burn out leaving a traffic light...i guess it's got the POWER. 😬😂
I picked up a used 2023 Blue Boss. I don’t mine the clunk as long as it doesn’t break. What a cool looking bike. Love the power.
Enjoy.
Smooth ride heaps torque big motors do use more fuel but well compensated by the exilleration cheers
Its one of my to do list
You touch on all the details of this bike very nicely, they have a 2006 & a 2009 M109R here in my dealer. Do you think the transmission is better on the 2009. It’s a $2000 price difference.
Own one, break it in hard. Don't pussy it. Mine seemed sluggish till about 4000km. Like it didn't want to Rev out past 5500. Rpm. Then all of a sudden it wanted to Rev to 6200 ... now it just whacks the throttle right in to 7200 red line. It's a rocket
Beautiful bike, but the only thing is missing is the floorboard and some side bags, also thanks for the great review
Side bags are optional
You give great reviews, I realize to each their own, it might be a great machine but I just can't warm up to the way it looks.
Very pleasant review. You like it, go for it.
Nice thorough review. But I gotta say I kinda like the clunky transmission tbh
Great review well done
Nice review dude, thanks. I had a 2006 but it was herky-jerky so I sold it. Maybe that has been fixed? Love the blue/black paint on some.
Have a TRE from GMAN coming in the mail right now, it's supposed to fix the jerkiness.
Awesome. Bike designed for man spreading. Love it!
Beautiful monster
Really love this bike...
Great review, thanks!
I'm debating on getting either a 2016 suzuki boulevard or a 1982-1987 suzuki GS
Is the m90 and m109 the same size bikes? Or is the m90 a little smaller?
Slightly smaller and lighter. I own both
Ever ridden a VTX 1800 ?? I would like your comparison of those two bikes.
Love the review, disappointed in the bike. I'm not sold on the silly plastic piece on the tank with barbie gage! I see the 2019 has a different look.
How tall are you and what is your inseam vs the seat height? I'm 5'8" and with a 30" inseam, I'm a little concerned about getting out of bad parking situations.
Did you buy the bike , what's the mpg and is it a 5 gallon tank . I'm not in the market for one just like checking out the reviews
Wow a cruiser I don't think is hidious, besides the Ducati diavel. Nice
Great video. A lot of good info.
Put a vance hines exhaust under it and the will be very different .. it sound amazing .. 😊. I have one myself and for me is het best motor i ever had
How would this bike do for a new rider, I’m a bigger guy which is why I am looking at this bike?
Very reliable easy to ride bike but very fast. You have to have self control.
I'm 5'10 301lb's fits me just fine
Brendon West, I will start with saying, I love this bike. Had mine for a little over a year now (identical to the one in this video, even same color) and can’t tell you how much I enjoy this bike. Nice review 👍⚡👏👏👏
what about abs for next year modal??? and the way u were doing gas all the time u probaly blew all the gas in the tank rsrsrs
Isn't the red bike ahead of you also an M109R ?
M90
Get a chance test out the new honda valkyrie...
Arkansas Motorcycle Rides yes rode both and Loved both. The valk was smooth as silk but I just liked the 109 but it is a draw
Arkansas Motorcycle Rides the valkyrie 1800 isnt discontinued???
For me, It's a 109 in the 501

Hermes A. Borges Do it! I considered a vrod for a long time but seeing the mechanical costs that people are having, I'm settling for the 109. More power, comfort, low ruining costs etc etc...
Tires are cherper on m90 then 109 if that makes a difference
I had to jump in here when i saw the guy asking about maintanence. Guy sèems to believe suzuki or any other big dealer are cheap on service. I got a dr650. Ancient technology machine. Love my 2012. Not loving the fact that these bikes have a notorious second gear failure issue. Would like a sixth gear.
Eric The Red I think they fixed the second gear issue on 2013 models forward...
Great Video
I like the sound, but I dont like the design. Bcus I am more to the old school type just like from the 80s until the early 2000s designs.
Love the style and it looks like fun to ride, but with that much engine and weight it really needs ABS.
John Simion it stops quicker and better feel than my VROD muscle abs with brembo's!!! I know because I owned a 2014 M109r New then traded in for a new 2016 VROD MUSCLE it pulls away from M109r but only after 60 and you gotta catch him first because they are quick off the line
Test rode a 2019 2 weeks ago, they stop well, their twin discs up front help.
Pick mine up in a week.
What's with the orange speedometer from the early 2000s? It's hideous.
baaaaaaaah....50.....baaaaaaaaah......60 lol I loved that 😂
would this be a good starter bike
No..probably want to start a little smaller.
Its my starter bike. Rode others. My first time owning a bike. So far so good.
no
Yes, like buying a Ferrari and working at McDonald's
That gauge is... why?
I know right?
The 80s called, they want their bulky gauges back
I ride a hd but luv all cruisers
Ttriumph Rocket is bigger@ 2.3litres
If you give it the beans.....what does that mean?
Give it some beans means you twist the throttle, give it some gas etc.
If you ride one be ready for second gear, she has a little go.
Very nice
it goes gabu gabu as it noms on fuel.
Good vid man. You def convinced me not to get one. Yuk.
Don't know what your missing.
Same with the foot pegs.. and I'm only 5'9"
how tall are you
Never cared for gauges on the gas tank
me too..it just seems out of place
harley bikes are overrated
christopher 600cc over priced too
The way they fucked Buell is reason enough to boycott them. Hopefully an EBR 1190RX will find it's way to someone with money and a heart.
U gotta own one to understand I use to be a sportbike guy...
@@dennism103 cult. Mlm. That's what this sounds like.
fuel injection and computers on a motorcycle guarantee it's lack of longevity. if you are one to buy a bike because you plan on keeping it then odds are any of the newer bikes won't fit the bill. smooth and refined is nice but like the reviewer said..."it's mechanical". all of the bikes i have tried out over the past five years have lacked what one would term"soul". it's not that it's a bad thing and the plug and play nature of these later model rides is right down most modern riders alley,as it were. old school folks(pre-fuel injection riders) though won't find the same feel or experience from these bikes in cruiser or sport trim. i find it a bit disappointing that like cars today...bikes are becoming homogeneous in nature and the experience of riding(as well as that of driving cars)is lacking because of it. i imagine it is...after all.....a matter of preference of experience at the end of the day.
and to those who think i may be a harley rider....nope!
'84 honda vf1100s/ '84 rz350 kr replica/'77 kz1000 sit in my shop and all three get ridden regularly :-)
no matter what your preference though...a day on two wheels beats out a day on four anytime!
Gizmo Thewytchdoktor exactly why I have an 06 carbed roadstar. I can mechanically figure it out. The FI's just too much technology for me
isn't it going to be discontinued in 2017 due to emission laws?
Javed faziljaved nope! 2018's are now on sale in the U.S.....
Nice
Nice bike. A little small but nice. (ROCKET X)
james wilson A little small!???? Have you ridden one man!?
sargeant002 exactly
nice bike
Office space lol
20mph slower than the vmax in the quarter isnt close.
Who cares about the quarter mile. Give me a bike that flies on the highway for a good amount of time and has plenty of passing power.
It's a fantastic machine and has a very sleek design, however the displays are appallingly ugly. I would prefer a HONDA VTX any time.
im 5 p 7 p its ok for me
Read it at night
66 hp at 4800 rpm, 84 ft - lbs at 2800 rpm, weight 344kg 758ibs, it's really not as powerful as you are making out. The worlds slowest test ride and dull.
That’s getting technical. 1800cc 125 hp Done!
Anyone Know Any Motorcycles With A Radio?
It is really need premium gas? Fuck. For what?!? I'm sad.
why did they make this boulevard style? it just seems like a ego bike..nothing here to look at.
