The burden of being ahead of your time... Now people will go back and listen to TFE and be blown away, when it got tepid reactions when it was released and Billy was playing small clubs with no pub/no airplay. Sorta like the end of the Oceania era into the Monuments tour, no one really cared and he still soldiered on with hired hands and no budget.
It really is a great album. I love how he constantly tries new sounds. This album is very much NOT overthought imo....it's kinda basic...very simple electronic drums....with washed out shoe-gaze/dream-pop guitars. It's kinda cool. Some songs are duds....but several are truly beautiful.
@@avedic this song alone, the unique sound is breathtaking, its got that 80s New Wave beat, but the blend of distorted pads and the guitar is absolutely gorgeous! I still play this!
Same. Love Billy. This entire album. &prettymuch everything he's written musically, &literature/writing by him, as well. Lol, yeah, imma huge-fan of his, to say the least, lol
Such a great song, one of my favorite Corgan/Pumpkins new wave-y jams. Fits REALLY great paired with that new SP jam "Cyr"....also cool seeing Brain Leisengang from Filter playing on keyboards here
I bought this album at the lakewood warehouse music in California in 2005 it hits hard in a car with good sound...I played it over and over start to finish a fantastic vision of where we are now.

@FIREAWARE I was surprised to find out how many people did get that. It has the mix of electric, and guitars, and the same confused feel that was so present om Machina.
Machina3/ The Future Embrace is what this whole album should be called it sounds a lot like a Machina style album. If you listen to the whole album you'll see that it's a continuation of Glass And The Machines Of God story.
What kind of Machina 3 ? only listened 1 and 2 , but in general they are fucking for many years really cool music can be made really by units, such as, for example Depeshe mode and Garbage
There are people who get incredible sounds out of the right amp setup. This sound could be easily replicated by pushing an old Roland delay or chorus head to its limits through the right cab. He also doesn't really change his effects settings; pedals could just be kept off screen to present a cleaner look for TV.

There are a lot more ways of producing sound than pedals. Maybe not 50 years ago, but now, yes. He's clearly playing, let's insult music where insult is due, not actual musicians.
The guitar is definitely live, vocals, at least one synth part is being played, and I think the drums are actually being played on the electronic pads.
Maybe he opted to have someone else offstage operate his effects during this time. He's not the only one to do this, I've seen at least one who did it that way. With the stuff going on with TheFutureEmbrace, maybe he just felt he could do the material live better if he could just concentrate on playing the guitar and singing without having to tap dance on a load of pedals.
QuarantineThePast One song on a TV show. He'd just have one part of his otherwise gargantuan rig sitting out back. Mina Loy only needed one guitar track, as did a lot of other songs on the record. Corgan dialled in a solitary signal path and used it as a paintbrush for the canvas so to speak.
Yeah, to piggy-back, his effects were controlled off-stage. The guitar sounds on this album/tour were mostly the same from song-to-song also. He's said so in interviews. He was in a big "break from the past" frame of mind at the time.
John Mordecai this is exactly how it’s done. Billy’s guitar tech is managing the tones from song to song on this tour from off stage, on a macro level. Billy still had some control on a micro level of his tone. This allowed for a cleaner “look” and aesthetic on stage.
@@austinmark1987 At the very least, it's pretty dense for someone to think that it can't be done. "I don't see any pedals, so it must be fake." Especially watching this, it's clear he's actually playing. It's obvious when people are sync-ing to pre-recorded tracks; the guitar is very obviously being played. I think "guitar people" just don't know how to handle anything that come off like "guitar music." And I say that as a guitar person.
This was such an underrated period of Corgan’s writing and career. Very well crafted songs and “vibe”.

1000%. Still the only person I know IRL who loved this album and era. So bizarre that the hardcore Pumpkin fans didn’t like it.
Was gonna write exactly that!
The songs, the presentation, the vibes…everything about the TFE era was so so good
People just love to hate.all on Billy's nuts. lol The 90's are over. Future Embrace and Zeitgeist are great albums. Plain and simple. :)

noisy, but not overbearing. so good
Really like this album, I remember jamming it that summer. This song is great. Also cool that SP now includes songs from this record in their sets.

honestly Mina Loy sounds more like SP to me than about half of the Cyr album
Together with Matt Walker that's half of the original Filter lineup.
I actually like this more then the album version
It's like the same, dude

Why isn’t this album in Apple Music?
Felipe Garrido Yes, I am wondering the same thing.
Because Apple sucks.
No respect for a genius like Corgan

The album did incredibly poor. He decided to distance himself from it. Which to me is sad because I love it.
Linda Strawberry is beautiful
The cover of the BeeGees "you don't know what It's like" featuring #robertsmith was the best song from this release.
the future embrace?
The backing vocal is so pretty and talent ! Anyone knows her name ?
I definitely would say so
