My dad is a US Army Vet, he told me when they were on the bus to the airport. On their way home from deployment, all the Army guys sang this knowing there were going home❤️ it’s been one of my favorite songs ever since I heard that story
I was lucky enough to see this live one of their tours. I can't remember which building I saw it in but Tommy came out, played the opening note on the piano, and we the audience SANG THE ENTIRE SONG w/o the band. They then came back and did the whole song again. it was of the most magical live concert experiences I've ever been a part of.

That's what this song is about. It's a classic. Great song that is well written and well performed by all of them.

It got Hella lonely going town to town being surrounded by people but truly being alone. This was a song about missing home. No one did any hard time in this scenario.

The movie on Netflix called The Dirt is based on their true story. They were a tight group who fell apart for a while, but came back together.... they even did rehab as a band. So much respect for those guys that been there/done that and survived to come out the other side. Think that's one thing that's missing these days. People learn from their mistakes and accomplishments. If everyone gets 'cancelled', who's going to stand to show that there is more that follows after you screw up?
