Being new to Maya and having one model with basic animation, I took next project to have some fx like smoke and water. Was struggling with bifrost for hours and realized I don't really need that xD. Thank you for your videos. They actually helped me alot more than many tutorials couldn't. 4 weeks and going for me.
I have a dragon character for my senior film and wasn’t sure how to make the smoke emoting from his mouth; this is extremely useful thank you sir.

I should like to animate cigarette smoke coming out from a mouth towards me and spell out a word/letter, but make it look like it could have been realistic.
How can I do that with fluid? Can I use emit from texture? Or do I need to use some other techniques like bifrost or particals?
One example is in the movie "The Mask" where Jim carry makes a heart with an arrow(If I remember correct).

Video request, if you haven't done it yet: Sand spray/cloud from vehicle traveling on a dirt road, like in Mad Max.

how do you do a mist spray like kind of effect... for example a bottle of spray can or spray bottle?

I think a nice tutorial with adding collisions pf smoke with objects would be nice (not sure if that required collider status for the object or not)

If i create a cigarette and put the little emmiter on front of that... It's like a cigarette smoke coming out bt when i move the cigarette the emmiter doesn't move with that how to combine them... Bcos i think combine tool won't work in it
can you do how to create some sort of shock wave from object impact using fluids and particles, please i can not find anything like this in youtube.

Hey there, Mike. Once again, every time I'm looking for something, you've covered it, my friend. I'm having an issue though. I start working with the smoke and start to adjust dissipation and difusion. The effect gets too strong so I lower it and it stops emitting no matter what I do. I've rebuilt the effect 4 times already and I continue to have the same issue.
The thickness get's too strong or the emitting power ?

Hi Mike , could you make vide of shooting tank, it just smoke and flame efect from tank barrel . Tank it self could be just simple box with pipe! Just make that shooting efect . I wouldn’t mind even pay some money for that kind of tutorial!

You can just render the particles

You should never ever scale your maya fluid container with the gizmo!!! it will distort your fluid.
@@swaminathan8913 It's easy to see if you enable "Boundry draw" in Dispaly under the fluidShape(Same tab Mike did most changes). Set it to 'Outline' or 'Full'. Then you will see the Voxel are not cubes, but more cuboid when you resize the container. However if you change it in "Container Properties" it will be equal cubes.
Hey, does anyone know how to lower density at the source of smoke so it really looks like cigarette?
Reduce the flow parameters in the Attribute editor ( particle count )
accidentally set the Base Resolution to 500 instead of 50 and my laptop went brrrrr
